Chapter 889: Chapter 886 I Have a Date with My Boyfriend

Tong Xiaohua walked out of the living room and immediately saw Qin Ming sitting inside, sipping tea.

"Uncle Ming, good morning!"

Qin Ming bent over to place his cup on the coffee table and looked up to scrutinize her carefully.

"Did you sleep well last night?"

Tong Xiaohua nodded, "Yes, very well!"

Dealing with matters of the bank was not a first-time experience for Tong Xiaohua, and hence, she had long ceased to lose sleep or feel anxious over such issues.

Therefore, she actually detected the underlying implication in Uncle Ming’s words, but she pretended not to understand, hoping to get by with a simple answer.

Yet Qin Ming was not so easily fooled; he patted the spot next to him, gesturing for Tong Xiaohua to sit down.

Tong Xiaohua hesitated, but eventually made her way over.

"Last night’s incident has been superficially concluded, but I’ll arrange for someone to keep a closer eye on the follow-up."

Tong Xiaohua took the hot drink that Uncle Yuan brought over and took a sip.

After finishing, she held the cup with both hands, "Thank you, Uncle Ming, however, I don’t think this incident looks like something Fei Gang would do. I believe it’s best to pay attention to some other people as well."

After all, Tong Xiaohua was a girl, whose thoughts are typically more meticulous. After a detailed analysis of the incident, she expanded her suspicion from Fei Gang to include two additional individuals.

Qin Ming looked at her with interest, "Oh? Who else do you think is suspicious?"

Qin Ming was an old fox, so even when he said nothing, he knew a lot.

However, Tong Xiaohua had just taken over all of the Tong Family affairs and needed to go through experiences to truly grow.

And bumps along the process were inevitable.

In any case, as long as it wasn’t a matter of life and death, Qin Ming wouldn’t intervene too much.

After observing and practicing for a while, Tong Xiaohua, as the new head of the Tong Family, had demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills that outshone what he and others had anticipated.

Given time, she would definitely become an impressive boss, no less capable than her father.

Tong Xiaohua looked around cautiously and, seeing that the spacious living room was populated only by her and Qin Ming, whispered two names.

Qin Ming blinked in approval.

"Alright, since we are in agreement, I’ll go ahead and handle it!"

Qin Ming had come over early in the morning with the intention of giving her a heads-up. Now that she had pointed out these two individuals, it was clear she must have had a plan in mind.

"Mm, I’ll leave this matter in your hands, Uncle Ming."

Uncle Ming walked towards the entrance hall and suddenly turned back to ask Tong Xiaohua, "So, are you having dinner with me tonight, or do you have plans with Third Young Master?"

Tong Xiaohua’s face turned slightly red, "I don’t know yet, we’ll see later."

Uncle Ming shrugged, "Well, as an old man, it doesn’t matter who I eat with, right?"

Tong Xiaohua, teased beyond rebuttal, said, "Uncle Ming, how about the three of us have dinner together?"

Uncle Ming quickly waved his hands, "No, no, no, I don’t want to be the third wheel!"

With that, he slipped out briskly.

Tong Xiaohua needed to return to school for two morning classes. Outside the classroom where she was to have her lessons, she spotted Zeng Xianghai.

Tong Xiaohua was somewhat surprised, for if she remembered correctly, Zeng Xianghai hadn’t elected to take this course, had he?

"Xiao Hua, do you have time tonight, to have dinner together?"

Zeng Xianghai didn’t wait for Tong Xiaohua to ask but took the initiative to clarify his purpose.

Tong Xiaohua thought she had made herself very clear in the coffee shop yesterday. Did this move mean that he still hadn’t given up hope?

"Senior Brother, I’m sorry, but I’ve made plans to have dinner with my boyfriend tonight."

Although she hadn’t made any arrangements with Yan Bo, the focus of that statement wasn’t really on "having dinner together," but rather on "my boyfriend."

Sure enough, Zeng Xianghai’s face changed immediately upon hearing the word boyfriend; his original nervousness turned into dejection.

"Boyfriend... But didn’t you say yesterday..." Zeng Xianghai thought that since Tong Xiaohua and that person she claimed to have mutual feelings for weren’t officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet, there was still a chance for him.

It was the first time Tong Xiaohua actively acknowledged someone as her boyfriend, and despite her outward composure, she couldn’t help blushing.

Her cheeks flushed, she nodded, "Yes, he wasn’t my boyfriend yesterday morning, but last night, he confessed his feelings to me."

Zeng Xianghai fell silent for a moment, then, unable to let go, he asked, "Did you accept him?"

"Mhm!"

Tong Xiaohua hadn’t tasted the sweetness of a secret crush, but she still felt it was better to cut off his hopes clearly than to lead him on ambiguously.

Zeng Xianghai hung his head, and after a long silence, he finally looked up at Tong Xiaohua with a forced, bitter smile.

"Well then, let’s meet up another time when we’re both free."

"Sure!"

Zeng Xianghai walked away with his head down, and Tong Xiaohua watched him step by step until he reached the corner. Just then, Tong Xiaohua suddenly called out to him.

"Senior Brother!"

Zeng Xianghai whirled around to look at her, a faint glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"Thank you for saving me a seat these past few days."

Tong Xiaohua wasn’t sure if they would still interact much after she had made herself so clear.

But as her first friend in the university, Tong Xiaohua felt she truly owed him thanks.

The light in Zeng Xianghai’s eyes dimmed, but he said, "Don’t mention it. I’ll continue to save a seat for you in elective classes, I’ve got to go now."

Tong Xiaohua entered the classroom with mixed emotions and found a seat in the last row, her usual spot.

Ever since Zeng Xianghai struck up a successful conversation with her, the number of people talking to her seemed to have increased.

Although they were just acquaintances, it was a significant improvement from the solitary existence she had led at the start of school.

After class, Tong Xiaohua bid farewell to a cute girl from the next seat and got into her car, where the driver as usual asked about her next destination.

"Let’s go check out the North City Bank."

In truth, when Tong Xiaohua stepped out of the academic building after class, she entertained the fantasy that maybe Yan Bo would be waiting for her outside.

But she quickly scorned herself for such a thought.

Yan Bo was indeed very good to her, but he was no dandy with leisure time to spare; he had endless work to attend to. How could he be waiting there just to surprise her?

Indeed, she was just an ordinary girl who had become unrealistic and naive in love.

The bank had been vandalized yesterday, the counter and the lobby’s glass and mirrors shattered. As Tong Xiaohua entered, she saw the busy figures of the renovation workers.

Fei Gang, who was not usually at the North City Bank, was there this time.

After all, he was the bank’s Big Supervisor.

"Miss, you’ve arrived!"

Fei Gang and the bank manager approached her with great respect.

Tong Xiaohua frowned as she glanced at the chaos in the lobby, "How long will it take before we can resume normal operations?"
