Chapter 386: Chapter 386: Daddy, Go for it! Part Two
"No, I know the owner of the shop! I had him send someone over with some of these. I wasn’t sure about your tastes, so I had him prepare a little bit of everything."
Yan Han was being honest, he could have, after all, played the pity card to earn some sympathy and hopefully collect a bit more goodwill.
However, he simply confessed his identity and lost an opportunity to make a touching act.
Still, fortunately, he was honest. Otherwise, even if he had portrayed himself as pitiful, standing in the street for hours just to buy a large box of beef jerky for Zhu Qianying, it’s unlikely she would have believed it.
"Thank you, I like all of it!"
Even compared to others who wait for hours, Yan Han only needed a simple phone call to purchase these. But for a man like Yan Han, paying attention to such small details was itself a big deal.
Therefore, Zhu Qianying’s gratitude was sincere and unfeigned.
After giving the beef jerky to Zhu Qianying, Yan Han did not intend to leave right away. His hands leisurely tucked in the pockets of his casual trousers, he took a few glances inside.
"Anything I can help with?"
At this, Zhu Qianying had to step aside to let him in.
She trusted Yan Han’s character, the potential dangers that might arise from a man and a woman being alone would unlikely occur with him.
However, she remained fully guarded against Yan Han. As far as Zhu Qianying was concerned, those who invaded one’s heart were even scarier than those who invaded one’s body.
"Nothing, I’m just tidying up a bit. Most things are already there, so there’s no need to bring much over."
The only things Zhu Qianying brought back from M country were essential documents and some simple luggage. Naturally, she didn’t need to prepare much for this trip back.
After entering, Yan Han naturally followed her to the wardrobe.
Despite Zhu Qianying claiming that she didn’t need his help, he pulled up a chair to sit down and comfortably watched her pack essential items into her suitcase.
"The place where you stay in M country, did you rent it or buy it?"
He hadn’t asked about this before, and it was only then that he thought of it.
"I bought it. I’ve made a down payment and making small repayments every now and then."
Given her current situation, there was no longer any need to hide this.
In the past, she had made up her mind to leave her place of sorrow and live a peaceful life in M country. Having a stable place of residence was incredibly important to her.
Perhaps it was because she had lived in the Zhu family home since she was young and always felt a sense of insecurity. So, she was somewhat resistant to the idea of renting houses, especially after finding out she was expecting a baby. She felt even more the need to buy a house.
Yan Han was somewhat surprised, he had thought that with her and Chen Jing’s income, buying an apartment in M country was more than manageable.
"If you’ve just bought a house and are running low on funds, you can borrow from me." Yan Han was cautious not to say anything about helping her to pay for it.
However, Zhu Qianying did not immediately decline his offer, "Not for now. The house in M country is mainly being paid off by the annual dividends from Ying Jewelry. It isn’t too much pressure."
Yan Han felt somewhat uncomfortable and stared at the back of her head.
"Cheng Ye is quite good to you!"
Zhu Qianying turned to look at him, "Don’t talk nonsense. I earned everything that I got!"
Zhu Qianying firmly believed that every cent she received from Cheng Ye over the years, was the fruit of her labor and there was no personal favors involved.
After being glared at by Zhu Qianying, the frustration that was building in Yan Han surprisingly dissolved.
He felt an extreme sense of relief knowing that his wife and son were not being supported by another man.
He admits that he’s narrow-minded when it comes to these matters.
"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way."
Fearing that Zhu Qianying might get angry, Yan Han hurriedly apologized.
Zhu Qianying couldn’t be bothered arguing with him and went back to packing her luggage.
"When will you be back?"
Even before her departure, he could already foresee the agony that separation would bring. Therefore, he wanted to get a definite return date from her.
Though, their relationship at the moment was not such that he could insist on this promise.
"Not quite sure. It could be as soon as ten days, or as long as half a month to a month."
Zhu Qianying didn’t think much of it. Since her son was going to be entrusted to him, asking for the return date was only natural.
"How about I bring our son along to visit you when the time comes!"
Zhu Qianying thought he was joking hence didn’t take his words seriously.
"Save your energy, I am going to work, not on a vacation. Even if you guys come, I wouldn’t have the time to be with you. Besides, you have work, and our son has school."
Yan Han wanted to say that he could work anywhere, as long as there was an internet connection.
As for their son, the main purpose of schooling was to give him the opportunity to interact with more peers, to learn how to behave with others, and to have some childhood fun.
As for the knowledge, Yan Han acknowledged that Zhu Qianying had truly put a lot of effort into their little boy over the past few years.
This could easily be seen from the type of books the little boy read in his study and the quantity he consumed.
"I’m worried that our son would miss you!"
Actually, he was afraid that he would miss her!
Zhu Qianying chuckled, "Yan Han, don’t worry, our son is very sensible!"
In any other family, it would be normal for the child to act unreasonably, hindering their parents from working.
But for their son, such a common occurrence became an unlikely event.
Yan Han took a deep sigh, unsure whether it was a sigh of relief or sentimentality.
"You’ve really done a great job raising our son. It must have been tough for you over these years!"
He had said similar things before, but each time, he felt an urge to take her frail frame into his arms and pamper and console her.
Yet, he could only suppress this urge time and again.
Because he knows, she doesn’t need it!
At least for now, she doesn’t need it.
He missed the opportunity to protect and care for her when she most needed it. Now, she has grown into a person who can face things by herself, even stronger and more independent than many men. His support and care has become insignificant to her.
"Yan Han, you don’t need to feel guilty about me bringing our son back or letting him take your last name. I treat our son well because he is my son, and not because of you!"
Compared to monetary debt, the debt of emotions are much harder to bear.
Therefore, Zhu Qianying does not need Yan Han’s guilt, regardless of its nature.
Her son is her child, her feelings for him are purely a mother’s love for her child. Indeed, they have nothing to do with Yan Han.
