Chapter 1077: Chapter 1074: Xiao Lizi and Baby Boy. Extra (35)

Bai Lu had a sour lemon-like mood, and Yan Xu actually empathized with her.

Because his family also had a pair of equally loving parents, especially his dad, whose words and actions often dazzled him, a single guy.

So, he just smiled and listened to Bai Lu’s complaints, which were actually boasts.

Bai Lu talked nonstop until her mouth was dry, and when she picked up her cup, she realized the juice was all gone.

She stood up to pour some warm water, and Yan Xu, looking at her figure, said, "Aunt might have made some other juice, you should ask."

Bai Lu turned her head and smiled, "Do you want some?"

Yan Xu shook his head.

Bai Lu entered the kitchen, where Aunt was still sorting the fridge. Seeing her with a cup, she pointed at the kettle on the kitchen counter.

"The yellow one is orange juice, green is apple juice, and red is watermelon juice, all freshly squeezed."

Bai Lu was puzzled, "With so few people here, why make so much?"

Aunt smiled and explained, "Baby boy Young Master loves orange juice, then he said apple juice aids digestion, and watermelon juice cools down the body, so I made a bit of each..."

Bai Lu’s face heated up; in this house, the only person who overate was her.

"Cough cough... then I’ll have some watermelon juice. I’ve been working overtime lately and need to cool down."

Bai Lu thought perhaps she was overthinking, and Yan Xu’s mention of aiding digestion could just be a coincidence.

"It is time to cool down, your face is breaking out."

Bai Lu did have a couple of small pimples on her forehead these days, but her bangs covered them, and she thought no one could see them.

She coughed again and hurried out with her watermelon juice.

Yan Xu looked at Bai Lu running out of the kitchen oddly, "Is there a ghost in the kitchen?"

Bai Lu had never felt like others’ jokes were so ill-timed as at this moment.

She hesitated, then glanced toward the guest room, "Is the room cleaned up?"

Yan Xu’s attention naturally shifted, "It’s been ready for a while. If you’re tired, go take a bath and go to sleep early. I asked Aunt to fetch two new sets of clothes from baby boy."

Bai Lu nodded, said "Thank you," and her footsteps, slippery like oil, headed back to the guest room with her juice.

She placed the cup on the coffee table, feeling as hot as if on fire, only then did she realize she was still wearing that big, thick coat.

She took off the coat and draped it over the sofa, sat there with her hot face covered for a while, then picked up her clothes to go bathe.

After the bath, not even half past nine, she looked at the coat draped over the sofa, hesitated for a moment, but ultimately hugged the coat and knocked on Yan Xu’s door.

"Yan Xu, it’s me."

"Come in!"

Yan Xu was quick to respond, and Bai Lu naturally assumed he was probably reading or something.

But upon opening the door, what she saw was Yan Xu’s bare back.

"Ah... sorry... "

Bai Lu instinctively stepped backward, and Yan Xu turned around, looking puzzled, "Sorry for what?"

Yan Xu’s hair had grown quite a bit since his last hospital stay, and his wet hair was dripping over his forehead. He was drying his hair with a towel, shirtless, and wearing a pair of sports pants. As he turned around, the strong pheromones hit her like a barrage.

Bai Lu’s mind went blank, blood surged to her face, and on impulse, she slammed the door shut and ran back to her room.

Before she could catch her breath, there was a knock on the door and Yan Xu’s voice.

"Bai Lu, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Yan Xu, having only seen Bai Lu enter and then leave the room looking unwell, didn’t even think to put on a shirt as he chased after her.

Bai Lu buried her head in the coat, kept quiet and didn’t make a sound.

Yan Xu knocked a few more times, tentatively asking, "Bai Lu? Are you feeling unwell? I’m opening the door, alright..."

Yan Xu paused for a few seconds, seeing no response from inside, he tried the doorknob, and the door clicked open.

He slightly leaned forward and saw Bai Lu sitting on the sofa, her body bent forward.

"Bai Lu, are you feeling unwell? Should we go to the Hospital?"

Yan Xu had completely forgotten that Bai Lu was a doctor herself.

Burying her face in her coat, her heartbeat pounded like a drum, rumbling echoed in her ears, and her mind went blank.

She hadn’t heard a single word of Yan Xu’s knocking or his question.

It was only when a hand was placed on her shoulder and Yan Xu’s concerned voice rang in her ear, "Bai Lu, are you all right?" that she suddenly looked up.

"Ah... I... I’m fine..."

She was indeed fine, just her face was as red as a cooked crab, her heart beating as if she were running a race.

Yan Xu crouched beside her, one hand on the sofa, the other touching her forehead, "Why is your face so red? Do you have a fever?"

Meeting Yan Xu’s concerned eyes, Bai Lu’s heart nearly leapt out of her chest.

In a fluster, she leaned back to avoid his hand, tried to gather the last bit of her wits, and shook her head vigorously.

"I’m fine... Perhaps it’s because the water was too hot when I showered..."

Yan Xu withdrew his hand, eying her sceptically from her red neck to her flushed face.

After a while, Yan Xu stood up, his gaze still on her face.

"Really okay? Should I call a doctor to check on you?"

His care and the look of concern only made Bai Lu more tormented.

But her mind was slowly starting to function again amidst the torment.

She shoved the coat into his arms, "I’m truly fine, I am a doctor, and I know better than anyone else if there’s anything wrong with me."

Yan Xu, holding the coat, looked down at her and finally seemed to believe her words.

"If you’re okay, go to bed early. What time are you leaving tomorrow? I’ll ask the uncle to arrange a driver."

Bai Lu didn’t want to be a bother, "No need, I can just take a taxi."

But Yan Xu, as if not hearing her reluctance, said, "What time? Is eight o’clock too late?"

Seeing she couldn’t dissuade him, she reluctantly said, "Make it seven, I still have things to prepare."

Yan Xu nodded, gave her a serious look, said goodnight, and turned to leave with the coat in arms.

Bai Lu nestled on the sofa and it took her a while to come back to her senses.

She turned on the computer and opened an academic paper, trying to calm herself down.

However, it felt like there was a heating element inside her, boiling her blood vehemently.

Her mind was clear, however, all that swirled inside it were things about Yan Xu and his silhouette!

Alas...

Bai Lu sighed deeply, somewhat regretting her impulsive decision to accompany him for dinner at the Yan Family tonight.

The next day, Bai Lu got up early, and though she usually did not wear makeup, she spent quite a while in the bathroom before coming out.

Coming out of the bedroom, she ran right into Yan Xu.

"Morning!"

After greeting her, a hint of surprise flashed in Yan Xu’s eyes.

"Do you have an appointment this morning?"

The words blurted out before Yan Xu himself was taken aback.

Bai Lu was also taken aback, "No, I’m just going to work."

Yan Xu’s gaze seemed to stick on her face, "I thought you didn’t wear makeup much!"
