Cursed Lycan's Scarred Mate
Chapter 99: His Lady

Chapter 99: His Lady

Still restless, Vivian practically sprung out of the bed when she heard footsteps nearing the door to the chambers outside.

Undoubtedly, based on the heavy but long steps, it was Ronan. And although she didn’t have the formidable scenting traits of her wolf any longer, she could feel his presence almost as if it were bound by fate.

Before Ronan’s hand could land on the doorknob, Vivian opened the door herself, grabbed his arm, and pulled him inside the room hurriedly.

Startled by her appearance, the Lycan Alpha nearly stumbled inside but even then Vivian didn’t give him a chance to regain balance.

As short and petite as she was, she pushed him back against the wall and gripped his collar. There was clear exasperation in her weary emerald eyes and somehow it was more amusing than concerning.

The subtle angry look in her eyes was entertaining, much like a wife prepared to pounce and reprimand her husband for returning home too late.

"What’s on your mind, princess?" Ronan grinned devilishly, taking satisfaction in the way she roughhandled him. The Lycan Alpha was never one for letting others touch him as they pleased without permission. Even when Lady Morgana reigned him in earlier in his beastly state, he detested it.

But with Vivian?

Perhaps he’d even let her drive a blade into his chest and still welcome the betrayal due to the simple fact that she would have to touch him first in order to harm him.

"Why are you so late?" Vivian demanded, displeased with his tardiness. As much as she was stubborn and too proud to admit that she’d begun to grow restless due to his absence, she didn’t want to be apart from him any longer.

Vivian had come to realise that separation from Ronan meant that intrusive dark thoughts would creep into her mind to leave it at unrest.

"Did you miss me?" Ronan’s grin widened further, his gold-amber eyes flashing with pride. "Were you aching for me to come back, princess?" His hands moved to her hips, squeezing gently to release the tension in her body.

"Absolutely not," Vivian denied, her face flushing bashfully. "It’s cold and I want to sleep." She mumbled, averting her gaze.

Ronan hummed in thought, gliding his hand up the left side of her waist. "There are warm blankets on the bed, princess." He knew very well what Vivian was implying, but for entertainment’s sake and to see her melt into embarrassment before him, he was determined to play ignorant.

What excuse could she come up with now? Ronan made a rather valid point that there were warm, fur-coated blankets on the bed, so shouldn’t they be enough to heat up her body and keep out the cold?

Yet that was not the case.

It wasn’t simply warmth that she ached for, but rather the sweet and safe comfort of Ronan’s strong arms wrapped around her as she fell asleep to the distinct sound of his heartbeat.

It had become difficult to sleep in his absence.

Realising she backed herself into a corner, Vivian released his collar and crossed her arms under her bosom. And seeing her withdrawal, Ronan had no intention of removing his hands from her hips.

"Then why are you so upset, princess?" Ronan’s expression softened. Although he wanted nothing more than to pull her flush against his sturdy body and prevent her from escaping, he was not the kind of Alpha to do anything against his mate’s wishes.

Just because they already mated and drowned in each other’s passion, he knew very well that it didn’t quite give him the right and leeway to touch her as he pleased if she didn’t desire it.

If she wanted him to remove his hands, then he would do so even if he preferred not to. But since there was no protest on her end, Ronan didn’t see any reason to release her from his touch.

Yes. Vivian very much belonged to him, but her body and mind still belonged to herself.

"I’m not upset," Vivian answered with a sullen protrusion of her lips, training her gaze low. "I was just worried you would disturb me when you opened the door and came in, so I stayed awake because of that."

"I see," Ronan said with a smile, deciding to go along with Vivian’s excuses and not tease her too much. "Then please forgive me for wasting the precious time you could have used to sleep, princess."

"Why should I?" It was Vivian’s turn to tease back. She lifted her chin confidently and challenged his hardening gaze. "I won’t forgive you." There was a hint of playfulness in her tone, and Ronan recognised it immediately.

"Then what shall I do to earn your forgiveness, Milady?" He addressed her as if she were some posh and prestigious noblewoman.

The way the sweet title rolled of his tongue and the way he deliberately changed the tone of his voice into something light and feathery was enough to make Vivian shiver from his words.

It was enough to drain all the burdens from her mind and all the worries from her thoughts.

She didn’t even remember what dilemmas she faced moments before his arrival.

Why was this man so in tune with what her heart and mind needed from him?

Why did he always know how to comfort her and ease the stress from her body?

Vivian didn’t want to fall too deeply for the Lycan Alpha, even though she accepted their bond and mating.

Ronan was easily making her walls crumble and paving a path for himself into her heart.

And she was very much afraid of the vulnerabilities that came with opening herself to him completely.

Vivian was not ready or prepared for that sort of deep commitment.

"I am no lady born of noble blood," Vivian replied solemnly. She was a far cry from the purebred noblewoman raised into prim and proper etiquette. "Just an omega daughter from Moonborn."

Ronan bent down to whisper in her ear, "I am the Duke of Frosthowl Frontier and you are my lady, Mrs. Wolfsbane." The corner of his mouth hooked into a victorious smirk as his heated breath ghosted over the shell of her ear, prompting goosebumps. "That brat Orion said it himself and you didn’t protest either."

His lady. She liked the sound of that.

Vivian would be an utter fool to pretend as if she detested the idea of being addressed as ’Mrs. Wolfsbane.’

She had no qualms about it when Orion addressed her that way and if anything, she felt as if she could truly be called Ronan’s mate.

And now, somehow, Vivian felt her body responding to Ronan’s deep voice. He’d simply called her ’Milady, yet it was enough to make her grow hot and bothered. She was no longer troubled by the shivers of the night’s cold; rather, she was now under the control of Ronan’s presence.

She needed him.

She needed him the same way he pleasured her that morning before the chaotic events that ensued afterwards.

So very desperately.

However, this time Vivian didn’t desire his gentleness.

There was something raw and primal about the glint in the Lycan Alpha’s eyes and it called to her, urging her to seek it.

And there was a part of her, some dying instinct that screamed at her with all its might to defy the Lycan Alpha. It was much like a rebellious streak of her omega nature, tempting her to test the extent of her Alpha’s restraint.

And then suddenly, the thought occurred to her: What was Ronan like when he was rough in bed?

And Ronan, much too keen when it involved his omega wolf, could sense the challenge in her gaze.

She was asking for it.

And who was he to refuse?

"Am I reading you right, princess?" He murmured breathlessly into her ear and Vivian bit her lip to suppress a moan. "I can smell your sweet desire and those innocent eyes aren’t doing a very good job at hiding what you want from me."

"I-"

Too late.

She didn’t have the opportunity to get out another word before Ronan pressed a soft, open-mouthed kiss to the base of her neck, making her fingers twitch and her heart skip a hard beat. In a single second, the Lycan Alpha switched them around, pressing her back into the door as his lips claimed hers.

"Someone’s impatient," Vivian whispered back with a dazed expression when Ronan pulled away to catch his breath, his lips already moving down to her jaw and neck.

"When you look at me so invitingly like you want me to devour you whole until you’re screaming and begging for me, patience becomes highly irrelevant," Ronan growled.
