Cursed Lycan's Scarred Mate

Chapter 54: A trip down memory lane [2]

When Dane stated his possessive claims, Vivian quivered under his heated voice and touch.

She never imagined she would be mated to an Alpha who desired her so wholly.

An Alpha who was both tender yet primal in the way he interacted with her.

Perhaps this marital arrangement she was averse to was not as atrocious as she perceived it to be.

Vivian hissed softly under breath when his teeth broke the skin on her shoulder to engrave his mating mark. It was the customary one to declare her as his wife and mate, but the more intimate mating mark would be received later on during their consummation.

Vivian felt a mix of excitement and anxiety.

Her beta handler from Moonborn, who had groomed her since birth to conduct herself as the epitome of true grace and submissiveness, had on several occasions taught her the arts of seduction and intimacy.

After all, it was the inherent nature of omegas to seduce their Alphas and ensure they were entertained.

Vivian vowed she would not disappoint.

Suddenly, she gasped when she felt Dane’s warm tongue lap over the bite shamelessly before leaving a kiss over it. He tugged her back against him while the guests applauded the auspicious occasion of their marital union.

"What are you doing, Alpha?" Vivian’s breath hitched, his rough hand resting low on her neckline from around. His public display of affection was so brazen; it made her embarrassed. "Everyone is watching..."

"Dane," the Alpha corrected in a husky tone, his lips brushing over the shell of her ear. "Call me Dane and let them watch."

Before she could protest again, he swept her up into his arms bridal style, earning a yelp from her. He laughed a moment later, finding her reaction endearing.

Dane carried her down the dais.

Vivian tensed when she saw her father’s disdainful look from afar, where he stood as a bystander, a stranger to his daughter’s marital ceremony. Like a wall of iron, Victor Moonborn stood with his hands clasped behind his pack, his face somewhat aged and stoic.

Those piercing hazel eyes always made her chest tighten with longing for his love.

Her brother, Vince, was no better.

He looked upon her scornfully as Dane walked past him with her in his arms.

Vivian burrowed her head into her Alpha’s chest, but her attention was drawn to her four year old niece tugging at Dane’s coattails.

The Alpha halted, offering the child a gentle smile.

"Miss you," Avery said to her aunt before she was whisked away by her beta handler.

Vivian answered her with a smile and waved at her with a promise to always visit.

Avery was the only sunshine and peace Vivian savoured in the last four years of the child’s arrival into the world.

She’d raised her as young as she was herself.

Dane resumed walking until they departed from the grand hall. His strides were long and somewhat quick, almost as if he was eager to indulge in the events the night would bring them.

He set Vivian inside the luxurious white carriage resembling a rosebud outline with gold designs, climbing in after her. The coach above struck his whip on the horse’s back, and the animal took off.

Vivian seemed withdrawn as she gazed out the window.

Although her life was rather unpleasant, this new and uncertain journey of marriage and political squabbles ahead of her was uncharted territory.

Dane appeared rather gentlemanly and caring, but there was still much she had to learn about the Alpha.

After all, his current demeanour was a contradiction to his notorious raking and aggressive personality.

Or did their marriage perhaps change him for the better?

And if it did, who was she to complain?

"You seem deep in thought, wife," Dane said, drawing her from her thoughts. He slipped his arm around her waist and brought her closer to him. "What troubles you? Are you afraid?"

How could he read her mind?

"It’s nothing," Vivian lied, shaking her head. "I am just nervous."

"Don’t be." Dane comfortingly massaged her waist. "I promise I don’t bite...hard." His lips hooked into a mischievous grin, followed by his charming laughter.

"Jests aside, wife," he continued, his expression softening. "You do not need to be so anxious around me. I will protect you and give you all the respect you deserve."

His words brought a relieved smile to Vivian’s face.

It allayed her mind of unrest gradually.

Dane pulled her onto his lap, forcing her to straddle him while both his hands perched on her waist.

"Tell me what’s really on your mind, wife," Dane urged, his eyes intense as he searched her gaze for answers. "It is our first night. I do not want you to be uncomfortable and hide your thoughts from me."

"It’s nothing really," she insisted, her hand resting on his chest. "This is all new to me so... I’m trying to process and understand it."

"There’s a faster way to do that, wife," Dane remarked with a devilish smirk, leaning in to whisper in her ear. "I can teach your body to adapt first, then everything else will follow."

Vivian’s heart thumped out of control.

Why was she so susceptible to his voice and charm?

She could already sense her body reacting to the potent pheromones of arousal emitting from him.

Was that his...desire? For her?

"You feel it, don’t you?" Dane entangled his hand in her hair, holding her head firmly as he bared her neck to him.

It was a sensation she’d never felt before.

Her eyes fluttered closed, and she obediently submitted to his movements, as did the omega in her compel her to.

It didn’t help that the bumpy carriage ride making her bounce involuntarily on his lap made her feel the shape of his hard arousal.

The foreign feeling pooled heat in the pit of her stomach, and she bit her lip to stifle any sounds from escaping.

"Tell me you can feel it, wife," Dane demanded, his voice dropping to a low growl. "Don’t resist."

"I feel it..." Vivian murmured, afraid to earn his displeasure.

"What do you say, wife?" Dane asked, his lips tracing over her collarbone. "Shall I give you a preview of our wedding night, right here?"
