Cursed Lycan's Scarred Mate -
Chapter 42: Lady Morgana’s Assessment
Chapter 42: Lady Morgana’s Assessment
Vivian was sceptical. She wasn’t quite fond of exposing herself to strangers, much less a woman of staunch Wickan descent. Ronan bent down, speaking in a gentle undertone to Vivian, "Let me help you undress."
Vivian shot him a sharp look but didn’t make any effort to begin undressing as he instructed. She refused to be naked and vulnerable in front of Lady Morgana. Not after what had already been done to her.
When Ronan reached for the belt around Vivian’s waist, securing the tunic she wore.
The she-wolf abruptly shoved his hands away and began backing away towards the door.
"Running from me never ends with your escape, little wolf." Ronan’s Lycan was the one to speak, finally ripping to the fore after disappearing due to the Moonbind Draught’s effects. "Be a good girl and come back here."
Lady Morgana observed the exchange unfold, intrigued by the dual personalities of Ronan Wolfsbane. She was amused by the way the man’s Lycan half seized control, prepared to lunge and recapture his mate if she decided to run off.
"No," Vivian denied stubbornly, almost stumbling when she took another step back. Her legs were weakened from exhaustion and pain and wouldn’t be able to carry her very far even if she forced herself to try.
"If you come back here, I promise I’ll reward you with that nice thing I did with my mouth to you in the—" Vivian reached him faster than the speed of light before he could complete his sentence.
She frantically covered his mouth with both hands, embarrassed out of her mind because of how shameless he was to reveal something so private in front of the coven leader.
Lady Morgana chortled to herself, entertained by the creative method Ronan’s Lycan used to draw Vivian back to him.
"Why would you say something like that?" With a dark blush creeping into her cheeks all the way up to her flushed ears, Vivian frowned.
Ronan’s Lycan chuckled and mischievously darted out his tongue to lick her palm, which was still over his mouth, to prevent him from speaking.
Gasping, Vivian pulled her hand away, and the Lycan Alpha’s amber gaze gleamed victoriously.
He gathered her into his arms and spoke quietly into her ear, "Have no fear. I will not leave your side." His words were a sweet promise that spoke to her heart directly. "I’ve known Morgana for decades. She will not harm you, but she might be able to help. You need to let her see."
"Lady Morgana," the coven leader emphasised, displeased with his lack of mannerisms as she arched her brow.
"I’m not one of your Wickan lackeys,"
Ronan’s Lycan remarked arrogantly, and Lady Morgana sighed in defeat.
Vivian hesitantly nodded. Even if there was the slightest chance that another Wickan would be successful in negating the dark magic, she shouldn’t waste the opportunity.
"He’s right, dear. I’m about as scary as I look, which is to say not very," Lady Morgana chuckled when she received a questioning look from Vivian, who seemed opposed to that statement. "My point is, what’s been done to you is what I consider a great evil. If there is any way I can help, I will do so without hesitation."
Vivian wondered just how closely related Sabre Coven was to Estwood Coven. Was Lady Morgana aware of Alaric’s sadistic nature and his malicious motives? Was she secretly in cahoots with him?
Nevertheless, Ronan seemed trusting of the woman, and Vivian had to remind herself again how much power and strength a Lycan Alpha wielded.
They wouldn’t dare cross him. Not even a coven leader.
Ronan made her sit on the edge of one of the infirmary beds, crouching down to unbuckle the straps on her boots.
Lady Morgana watched with interest, the bewilderment in her eyes clear as day. As far as she was informed or acquainted with the Lycan Alpha, Ronan Wolfsbane never kneeled before anyone in submission or to serve them.
Yet, in a heartbeat, as if it were the most natural courtesy in the world, he dropped to his knees to remove his mate’s boots.
Was the man really that smitten with his mate already?
A few more minutes, and Vivian’s tunic, leather pants, and coat were removed. She stood there with only her undergarments, that being a fleecy white chemise and drawers. Ronan took her by the shoulders, leading her to stand a safe distance away from the burning hearth for warmth.
The Lycan Alpha then removed her chemise, leaving her breasts bare to the flickering flames a few meters away. She shivered, instinctively covering her breasts with her arms, but Ronan pried her hands away.
There was a mark between her breasts that the coven leader would need to assess.
Vivian was aware of Lady Morgana approaching closer but tried to pay her no mind, focusing on the fire and the warm, protective feeling of Ronan’s hand, which lay on her unmarked shoulder.
Lady Morgana circled her, crouching to get a better assessment once or twice since Vivian was much shorter than her.
The she-wolf was ashamed of her nudity, while the lewd gaze of Ronan’s Lycan raked over the swell of her breasts and curves of her waist appreciatively.
Lady Morgana detected the perverse movements of his eyes and shook her head hopelessly.
"How long ago did it happen?" The coven leader questioned.
"Just over a week," Ronan answered on Vivian’s behalf.
"They don’t appear as severe as I’d expected after a week," Lady Morgana voiced.
"I’ve been using a poultice and ointment on them for most of that time. There was a day or two between when she was hurt and when I found her when they went untreated." Ronan related the events leading up to now. "But the effects are wearing off faster each time, and there’s no sign of healing."
"Has she spent much time in wolf form?"
Ronan remained silent, allowing Vivian to answer. "Only once," she confessed. "For less than an hour. My pack decided to give me mercy because they couldn’t help me."
"Is there any solution to this, Morgana?"
Ronan asked with a hint of desperation and hope in his voice, his hand squeezing Vivian’s shoulder.
"I can’t undo what’s been done. Magic like this is permanent," Lady Morgana admitted almost apologetically. "It can’t be removed."
