Chapter 59: 59: Interrogation

Lilac

The Prince looked annoyed as he regarded his cousin. They looked nothing alike, and he was also taller than Prince Vlad. When the Prince spoke, I shivered a little.

"What do you want?" He demanded, sounding irritated and bored.

Prince Vlad let out a laugh, his eyes briefly focusing on me before returning to the crowned prince, then he stepped forward like he wanted to place a hand over the prince’s shoulder. However, the prince grabbed his shirt and jerked him forward, so fast that a gasp caught in my throat just as Prince Vlad’s eyes bulged out as he choked on air.

"Since you’re here right now, you’ve saved me the trouble of searching for you." The prince gritted out and I stiffened even more as he continued.

"What did you do to lilac yesterday?" He continued as he tightened his grip on Vlad’s shirt even more. Vlad tried to speak but ended up choking and choking again.

"Don’t make me repeat myself twice, I’m sure you’ve heard what I did to Zade, who is why stronger than you. So, start speaking."

My heart was racing fast and I was nervous as hell. I just said that which I refused to tell him had been stored right in his head, but I had hoped he’d forget. I held that detail back from him because I was ashamed of how he’d see me after that, and not because I was worried for Vlad,

However presently, I was worried that the prince hurting Vlad today—after shortly hurting Zade, would put me into a lot of problems than I could ever imagine because it’s my fault at the end of the day and to everyone here, I’m just a mere slave.

I looked between the two princes, one was still choking and his face was turning red. The other had a Stoney expression on and his hand around his throat was tightening even more.

"Start speaking right now. What did you do to him yesterday?" Sloan continued, his voice pitched even lower this time. Vlad’s eyes panned around, clearly searching for help but finding none.

The few guards who walked past, didn’t even dare interfere. Instead, they all walked away fast like they didn’t notice anything.

"I didn’t do anything to him!" Vlad choked out and the prince scoffed.

"Didn’t I say you shouldn’t lie to me?" The prince demanded and made to punch his cousin. I tensed up and looked away while my heart pounded hard.

The king wouldn’t like this. He’d blame me for all of this, and the prince might not be able to save me from his wrath. I was nervous as hell right now, and unsure of what to actually do.

"I didn’t do anything ! Ask him!" Vlad cried out desperately and I wanted to call him out on his lies, to point out that he’s a low-life liar, but I bit on my tongue because the words got stuck in my throat.

When the prince looked over at me, asking me if Vlad was telling the truth.

I gave a small nod.

It was clear that the prince still didn’t believe me. He tightened his hold on Vlad’s throat till he almost stopped breathing, then he let go of him and he collapsed on the ground, whirtjung and gasping for breath while I felt horrified, wondering if he’d really survive.

However, when the prince’s arm settled over my shoulder, all those thoughts flew out of my brains at once.

"Let’s go." He said then he stirred us out of the hallway and out in the open. In front of his wing, the guards positioned there all stood up and bowed. They appeared tense than usual and were giving me longer looks since Jake compelled them.

The Prince narrowed his eyes at them and they all averted their gazes at once, we were both walking past them, and no one said a single word.

I knew the Prince knew I lied back there, and I was waiting for him to bring it up as we kept walking, but he never mentioned it. His grip around my shoulder didn’t loosen as well. f.(r)eewe/bnov\ll.com

Despite the fact that we’re currently in public, he didn’t seem to mind that a lot of people walking by could see us. I was presently in the pants of the slave uniform so everyone can see that he’s literally walking beside a slave, but it was like he didn’t notice them. He only pulled me into his side even more and I shivered despite wearing his hoodie.

"Have you had a tour around this palace?" He asked and I shook my head.

"I don’t think slaves are given tours, your highness." I responded and he suddenly stopped walking, then he turned me around with his hand on my shoulder so we faced each other.

"You can call me Sloan, okay?"

My heartbeat accelerated at once as I blinked up at him. He was giving me permission to call him by his actual name, with no formalities.

I almost let out a squeal.

"Ah... are you sure?" I asked quietly and the prince grinned before nodding.

"Of course I am."

I nodded this time, suddenly feeling shy as I bit on my bottom lip.

"Okay, Sloan."

He hummed in approval, offering me another grin and I felt my stomach flip around a little, and I suddenly felt breathless and lightheaded.

"As for the tour, I’ll give you one tomorrow, okay?"

A grin spread out across my face before I could hide it, and my heart rate picked up. For the first time since I arrived at this palace, I have something that I can actually look forward to.

"Okay, Sloan." I whispered when my eyes locked with his again.

"Good." He hummed as he nodded and I grinned before shyly ducking my head. He closed the distance between us, then he was leaning down to speak.

"So, are you gonna give me a departing kiss now?"
