Chapter 47: 47: Disappointment

I felt extremely agitated, and cranky as hell.

Why?

Because I expected to see Lilac today, but I haven’t. Yesterday before I allowed him to leave, I told him i’d see him today, and I expected that he’d come to serve me today, so I kept waiting for him to arrive but he never showed up, and I wasn’t pleased in any way.

My first assumption was that he was avoiding me because he was frightened of me. I didn’t like that thought at all, because the thought of hurting him was absurd and he needed to know that I’d never hurt him.

My second assumption was that he was too embarrassed to face me after the slight sexual stuff that transpired between us. Honestly, this thought was cute as hell. He had nothing to be embarrassed of and he needed to be aware of that.

But if he won’t show up, then how would I tell him that?

A knock on my door arrived at that moment and it was one I recognized. On giving permission for my butler to step in, he did with a bow.

I couldn’t control the scowl that spread across my face. He wasn’t the one I wanted to see. The only person I wanted to see right now was lilac and only him. I wsnt fi set my eyes on him, breathe in his scent and revel in his presence. After having him in my bed for two days, him not being in my room for the past twenty hours was very displeasing to me.

"Your highness, I’m here to inform you that your bride has arrived just now." My butler announced.

I stiffened before letting out a laugh. So my father hadn’t been joking? He really thought I’d agree to take some girl as my bride just because he asked me to?

"The king has asked that you go welcome her and have dinner with her." My butler continued and I scoffed this time.

"Tell my father that I’ll do no such thing. Now, leave." I ordered before turning away from my butler.

Before my butler could leave, I turned back around and stopped him.

"Do you need anything, your highness?"

"Yes, I do. There’s someone id like you to go fetch for me," I began.

"Who’s that?"

It was lilac. I want to ask my butler to go fetch him for me right now. But I ended up deciding that it wouldn’t be a good idea. I know my grandfather and father would start looking into the boy that spent two days in my room. If it gets out that I sent for him outside his duties, that would make them more curious, and for the safety of the boy, I didn’t want that, because I know how dangerous this palace could get.

"Never mind. You may go."

Long after he left, I still felt worked up and agitated. Everything felt wrong and annoying. It was currently evening time and I couldn’t even see myself being able to fall asleep tonight.

Which was why I decided to go work out a little in the inbuilt gym available here in my wing.

I was running the treadmill and sweating buckets when Vlad appeared at the doorway of the gym. At once, the irritation within me tripled from the mere sight of him, I really do dislike him along with my two other cousins.

I didn’t pay him any mind and continued to do my thing, but when he sauntered close to me, a whiff of lilac’s scent drifted into my lungs from his body, and I almost lost my footing as I stumbled on the running machine. I stoped the machine and turned around to face him.

He frowned and shrugged a shoulder lazily. "What? I’m only here to work out."

But I wasn’t paying what he was saying any mind, instead, I was focused on taking in another deep breath, while trying to figure out why lilac’s scent was currently clinging to Vlad’s body.

The frown on my face deepened and I wondered if my mind was playing tricks on me because I was very desperate to see lilac so it was making me think that I was currently picking up traces of his scent on my stupid cousin.

I exhaled sharply and turned away from Vlad, then I mopped my face and shoulder with my towel.

"Rough day? You look angrier than usual." Vlad’s voice echoed from behind me and when I inhaled, I hated that I could still smell lilac on him.

Why does he currently have lilac’s scent?

Did lilac get to serve him today? But not me?

I instantly stiffened, mind going crazy with so many thoughts rushing in from all directions.

Has someone from the palace ordered him to stay away from me? Was that it? I didn’t even think about that since, but now that I was thinking about it, I realized that there was a possibility that was what happened.

However, that doesn’t explain why Vlad currently has Lilac’s scent on. If lilac only served him, then his scent wasn’t supposed to get on my cousin’s body.

Except something else went down...?

My head felt like it was about to explode, and before I did something stupid, I picked up my stuff and walked out of the gym without saying a word.

Once in my room again, I was still unable to calm down, so I went to shower. After that, I dressed in something warm then stepped out, my phone pocketed and my hoodie hanging over my head.

After stepping out of my wing, I began to head towards the slave quarters.

I was going to see lilac.

I don’t care about any rules right now. I wanted to see him tonight and I will. I might have been able to suppress this urge, but after getting a whiff of his scent on Vlad, it was like I might go crazy if I didn’t see him tonight, to ensure that he was alright at least— because I didn’t trust Vlad at all.

And if Vlad had hurt him... well, he better start getting prepared to go to hell tonight.

Once I neared the slave quarters—- a part of the palace that I knew of but had never been to presently, I slowed to a stop and looked around, then something stumbled within my chest at the sight straight ahead. _{fr\(e)ew(e)b.(n)o (v)(e)l.com}

There stood Lilac, but he wasn’t alone. There was a tall dude, black haired and broad shouldered, standing beside him. The boy was patting lilac’s head and lilac was laughing as he tried shoving the hand away.

I thought something might have happened to him, but he looked... happy.

I looked between the two of them a few times before letting out a bitter laugh.

Was Lilac in love with this person?
