It was getting dark and Ji Ran had been watching Si Ning like a hawk, the camp had been set up and a standard tent was set for Si Ning even a bed was provided with a fluffy blanket, and a small bathtub was set too at the far corner of the tent. The tent contained all the necessary things Si Ning needed for him to be comfortable until they get to Xiu, he was even provided with some skincare handmade products. Ji Ran who took over Xiao Pei’s job by being the guard chose to be in the same tent as Si Ning and from what Si Ning could see it seemed Ji Ran was going to lose a lot of sleep by watching him throughout the night because since Si Ning entered the tent and Ji Ran followed, he had been watching all of Si Ning’s movement and a small bed was even set up for him too just opposite Si Ning’s bed.

Si Ning was sitting by the table watching Ji Ran write his last letter and gave it to the soldier who had the last night bird. Ji Ran had no choice but to write the letter personally so that the recipient could identify his writing and not have doubt that the letter might be sent from an enemy trying to deceive them, if it was the modern day world where they were photocopy machine then Ji Ran won’t have to go through the hassle of writing a letter for almost half a day but Si Ning saw it as wasting resources because they don’t have any bird left to send an important message since all the birds had been sent out but since birds were technically fast creature which could cover a lot of distance so if they reach Xiu Zhicheng camp they might likely be sent back.

From the massive letters sent, Si Ning was sure Xiu Zhicheng would receive one and since Ji Ran had nothing to do, he kept twiddling his thumbs watching the mini representation of the formation of the camp set up with stone on a plain paper on the table.

"Second Master I am here." Yi Chen announced when he entered the tent holding his cutting scissors tool.

"Good, get rid of these bangs for me." Si Ning pointed at the bangs that were covering his eyes, some of the hair was even getting into his eye and it was such a pain.

"Bangs? Oh." Yi Chen nodded and moved towards Si Ning.

It seemed Ji Ran wanted to talk but didn’t say anything all he did was close and open his mouth, he looked shocked yet surprised like he was just noticing Si Ning’s short hair. Yi Chen also didn’t waste time in getting to work, giving the bangs a trim just below Si Ning’s eyebrows, making sure it was perfect straight only covering the eyebrows, he also trimmed the back, sides and when he was done he smiled widely satisfied with his work then he left to bring a bowl, soup and water to wash the hair.

After washing, drying the hair with a soft cloth and applying the necessary hair nutrient oil, anyone would think Yi Chen was done after combing but Yi Chen made a side parting leaving the bangs to fall freely but with a part leading to the side part letting the hair to form a triangle at the side of the forehead, just this little finishing touch made Si Ning’s hair perfect that he also felt so refreshed and his head felt so light. Yi Chen also provided a mirror for Si Ning to see his reflection, it was like he was already prepared for Si Ning to ask for a haircut.

"It seems you improve from the last time." Si Ning commented as he checked his reflection in the mirror, this type of skill was nothing less than a modern day skill.

"Shang Jin’s men let me practice with their hair when we were at the end of the Blossom trees and I am still learning but will soon be able to give Second Master a haircut that will shake heaven but if Second Master wants to grow your hair then I will help too." Yi Chen replied. "Let me leave Second Master to rest." He packed all the hair cream, soap, combs, scissors and oil that he brought and then left the room.

It seemed Yi Chen found something to be passionate about. Si Ning continued staring at his face for quite a while with a smirk, Xiu Zhicheng might be shocked but he was going to like his hairstyle and this thought made a bright smile plaster on his face giving him a refreshing and brightened look that it was too bright it seemed illegal to be staring at the beautiful man so Ji Ran looked away with sad eyes because Ah Dai was the one that used to do the job of taking care of Si Ning’s hair and now Si Ning had gotten rid of the lengthy lush hair.

"General Here is a fish soup prepared by me." Jiang ChenMu that entered the tent said and placed a bowl of soup in front of Si Ning then his gaze fell on Si Ning’s hair which was so dark, smooth with a single dot in the middle that made the hair fall evenly on the head like a bowl and it seemed so soft that anyone would be compelled to touch it.

Si Ning looked at the fish and seeing how black the soup was with fish unevenly cut into it, he could tell it was indeed Jiang ChenMu that made it, he carried a spoon and scooped some. "This is good." He commented after tasting it, the soup surprisingly tasted nice even the fish was seasoned nicely.

After eating another spoon Si Ning bent his head sideways to prevent Ji Ran from seeing his face and after getting Jiang ChenMu’s attention, he mouthed ’Get Ji Ran out of here and you stay.’ He mouthed it so slowly with his mouth wide open to form each word.

Jiang ChenMu nodded subtlely then turned. "Commander Ji Ran how should we set up the barricade and night watch, I can’t get the position."

"That means it’s a step for our Captian to overcome." Ji Ran replied to show he wasn’t going to help.

Jiang ChenMu nodded in understanding then he saluted Si Ning then do the same to Ji Ran and left the room. Si Ning had to conceal how shocked and disappointed he was, he couldn’t believe Jiang ChenMu pretended to understand him only to leave the room. Ever since they left Xiu, Jiang ChenMu had been his reserved self but he had been lively and it seemed he was looking forward to being made a Commander yet an ordinary signal he couldn’t get but pretended to do.

"Commander Ji Ran!" Jiang ChenMu busted in with a worried look and this made Ji Ran stand up even Si Ning got worried too when he saw Jiang ChenMu’s serious look. "Many of our men are having a stomachache, it is serious!" He announced.

"I will check and be right back." Ji Ran hurried and left the room.

Si Ning was about to ask about the situation when he saw Jiang ChenMu nod like he had just done something impressive Si Ning knew it when he started hearing someone growling outside and Ji Ran shouting some orders.

A trick.

"General you can tell me anything, Commander Ji Ran left a lot of guards outside and even prevented Shang Jin from coming in." Jiang ChenMu said.

Si Ning’s eyes crinkled in delight because Jang ChenMu was his saviour. "Say ChenMu, if his Majesty tells you to go south and I tell you to go north, who will you follow? Where will you head to?"

"It is General, of course, I will go north." Jiang ChenMu replied instantly.

Good. As expected from someone that was looking for the General acknowledgement.

"I need to leave here quietly tonight to go to his Majesty’s camp." Si Ning confessed.

"General the reserved force are your private army, I will find what I can do, all Ge...." Jiang ChenMu paused because Ji Ran came in.

"General should study the map." He rolled out a map changing the topic immediately then quickly gave two taps on a location.

Si Ning stared at the location only for Ji Ran to snatch the map away like it was his prohibited property yet they touched it. Si Ning knew Ji Ran came back immediately he noticed Jang ChenMu didn’t follow him out and this must due to his suspicious nature.

"We cannot stress General, we know our way to Xiu and from what I saw outside it is the reserved force that has one or two stomach problems which should be your responsibility, not mine." Ji Ran told Jiang ChenMu as he folded up the map. "Forgive me General but I will be taking this map away, General does not have to worry a bit, this General’s loyal subordinate knows his way around and will get General safely to Xiu." He added to show he meant no harm for taking away the map and his explanation was so that Si Ning won’t ask for the map back.

Si Ning had already seen the location Jiang ChenMu pointed at and from what he could see by the large open space it seemed it was where Xiu Zhicheng camp was located and where he was heading.

"Yes I should not stress General and I should go and check the situation." Jiang ChenMu said. "I will take my leave, General." He saluted Si Ning and then Ji Ran before leaving the room.
