Cunning General Si Ning -
Chapter 238: Cry
Chapter 238: Cry
"It is a wound that shouldn’t be sustained by the Empress." Liu MingXia said wrapping the wound with a neat white napkin she brought out from her waist pouch, she turned to one of her guards, she didn’t need to talk for the guard to know he was the one to go and get the Imperial Doctor so he quickly bowed and left.
Immediately the guard left, two of the Minister of Defense guards came in, one carrying Xiu Yuan while the other held Concubine Ran by the arm. Two of the reserved force guarding the door made sure to not allow Concubine Ran’s guard and handmaiden to enter. Xiu Yuan was blinking watching around like he was trying to process the unfamiliar place, he seemed sleepy rubbing his eyes but smiled when they moved closer and he saw Si Ning.
"Nin Nin." Xiu Yuan called and started to jump happily in the guard’s hand, swinging his legs that he even gave a kick to the guard on the chin.
The guard had no choice but to place Xiu Yuan down because the boy was stretching and trying to hop out of his hold which was dangerous because he could fall but the moment Xiu Yuan’s feet touched the floor, he ran sluggishly towards Si Ning. Those around watching hearts went warm as they watched Si Ning place his sword on the floor after Liu MingXia tied the final knot to secure the napkin firmly, Si Ning extended his hands wide open for Xiu Yuan to jump in.
When Xiu Yuan jumped, Si Ning’s hands felt weak and a sharp pain ran through his wounded arm that caused the napkin to start staining with blood because the sudden movement made blood start flowing but Si Ning ignored the pain, Xiu Yuan was giggling, his eyes closing slowly only for him to jerk awake like he was trying to keep himself awake. Si Ning smiled weakly and pat the boy on the head letting Xiu Yuan rest his head on his chest and the boy fell asleep immediately. It was unhygienic to hold Xiu Yuan against his cloth that stink of blood and hold him with his dirty hands but just for a moment Si Ning wanted to keep holding him, it was funny that seeing the bouncy boy was able to stop his hand that was shaking due to not being able to calm down but now his unbalanced mood turned into sadness, his heart heavy he wanted to find a place to yell, he wanted to weep for his losses and make Xiu Zhicheng make him feel better but just for tonight, he was going to be strong to pass judgement because he didn’t need to yell nor do he need to weep until at least he had those bastards that caused him pain in his palms.
"Your Majesty, I found her in her quarters taking tea while second Prince was sleeping, none of her servants nor guards were harmed, they tried to fight us even after telling them we were sent by Your Majesty." The guard holding Concubine Ran said as he forced her to kneel then he and the guard that brought Xiu Yuan fell on one knee and bowed to pay their respects.
Interesting.
Si Ning adjusted Xiu Yuan on his lap so the boy could sleep without waking up with body pains. For someone like Concubine Ran to be taking tea late in the night while her son was with her was indeed strange. "Xiao Pei I want you to go to my residence, in my room, you will see a rolled-up edict in my drawer beside the bed, bring it with you." He said when he turned to Xiao Pei ignoring Concubine Ran who was frowning deeply, her eyes moving from her son to Si Ning.
Instead of Xiao Pei nodding, replying, and going on the errand, he stood there like a pole, blinking like he doesn’t understand what Si Ning just said and this made Si Ning confused because Xiao Pei had never refused him but his confusion turned to worry because Xiao Pei might be wounded and it might even be from the battle of darts.
"I will go." Liu MingXia volunteered.
"Uh..." Si Ning was about to protest.
"Elder brother’s guard has to stay to protect you." Liu MingXia said then turned to Xiao Pei like she just guessed what seemed so difficult for Xiao Pei to say then she watched as Si Ning turned to see Xiao Pei nod to confirm her words. "If you will excuse me Elder brother." She heads out of the courtroom immediately with the rest of her guards in a hurry knowing the edict had to be an important document needed for the meeting.
Si Ning sighed as he watched the small frame in a man’s attire disappear outside the door, he was glad that he didn’t push Liu MingXia away, because of them being close a bit and letting her call him her brother even though he never liked the idea but because of this, she fought for him and now ready to even fulfill an errand for him. Si Ning knew right then a King could never stand alone and after he lost Ah Dai he thought Xiao Pei would be the only one to protect him but it turned out he was wrong, many were ready to protect him.
Si Ning gestured for the two guards on their knees to stand, then he stood up and gave Xiao Pei the boy that was sleeping peacefully in his arms. "Xiao Pei, are you hurt?" He asked as he watched Xiao Pei hand over Xiu Yuan to the guard who carried Xiu Yuan like the boy was on fire but this movement woke Xiu Yuan up like he felt the change in his position.
"No General, I have sustained no injuries." Xiao Pei replied firmly.
"Nin Nin." Xiu Yuan tried to wiggle free out of the guard’s hold so Si Ning had no choice but to take Xiu Yuan back then Xiu Yuan realising he was back in Si Ning’s arms hugged his neck tight and continued with his sleep but Si Ning was still watching Xiao Pei knowing that Xiao Pei doesn’t lie but he still wanted to see his face maybe he was in discomfort.
"Give me my son!" Concubine Ran demanded as she stretched her hands forth.
The way Concubine Ran positioned her hands like she was trying to collect a newborn baby already showed Si Ning she only delivered Xiu Yuan and didn’t take care of him because children were always close to the person close to them but not once did Xiu Yuan mention his mother to him and Xiu Yuan didn’t even see her at all when they came in.
"General Si Ning didn’t you promise me you will not marry his Majesty but you did so why should I participate when the palace was burning, is it my fault? it was due to you as the Empress incompetence!" Concubine Ran yelled in anger when Si Ning made no move to give her her son and left her hands hanging.
Xiao Pei wasted no time drawing his sword and placed it on Concubine Ran’s neck then he raised his head to look at Si Ning ready for his signal, this instantly shut Concubine Ran up.
Si Ning’s eyes turned red, he won’t accept anyone telling him that the whole attack was his fault, since he became the Empress not once did he order a person’s death, he had been merciful yet they invaded his home, took his mother and took his favourite servant and Concubine Ran just opened her mouth to blame him.
To blame him? Blame him!
Just all this thinking made Si Ning unknowingly wear a scary face that Concubine Ran began to slightly move back as she started to breathe hard like she was starting to have a panic attack because Si Ning looked like he was ready to see a head get detached from the neck and she was scared because the sword placed on her neck was getting closer.
"Concubine Ran Chunhua, do you think having a sharp tongue because you are the daughter of the Governor of Zunyi and the Concubine of the Emperor of Xiu will save you if I find you guilty for causing the deaths that happened tonight and the death of a person you called your friend." Si Ning stated calmly, it wasn’t a question.
"My friend? Xiu Ting?" Concubine Ran asked but seeing none of the people present deny it made her mouth fall open. "You lie!" Her voice sounded broken as she shook her head in disbelief, she covered her mouth, shaking her head for some time as she kept repeating ’You lie’ in a small voice then she started to cry silently, muffling her voice but the pain she was feeling was written all over her face.
Si Ning does not pity her because he was wondering what he was going to do to her if she knew and was just shedding crocodile tears.
