Cunning General Si Ning -
Chapter 214: Sauron
Chapter 214: Sauron
It was still surprising to Si Ning how Xiu Junjie could just agree like that, he couldn’t help but wondered where the rude boy had gone, the Xiu Junjie he knew wasn’t a boy who would sit to listen to him tell a story.
This was so stupid.
Si Ning knew he should have thought of something simple like naming the colours in the Imperial garden yet he had to open his mouth and say he was going to tell them a story, he didn’t expect them to agree immediately at least if Xiu Junjie didn’t agree then he would have come up with a simple thing they could all do and now he was stuck to telling a story and the problem was that he had no story to tell and to make the situation worst, Elder Qin was now standing with series of palace maidens, Xiao Pei, Ah Dai, Yang Sheng with some Servants and Guards of the Jasmine palace were also present all of them showing interest to listen to his story, it might not have shown on their faces but Si Ning was sure they were waiting for him to start because all of them were quite standing closer to them than necessary.
This situation started by when they stepped out of the palace, Xiu Yuan in Si Ning’s arms, Xiu Junjie walking at the front while Yan Dong was just standing right beside Si Ning then Xiu Yuan had to announce to Elder Qin and the palace maidens who were waiting for him at the courtyard that the Empress was going to tell a story.
Ah Dai didn’t disappoint to provide refreshments, Yang Sheng also didn’t waste time following with some guards and servants which were more than the number that used to follow the Empress, and now Si Ning was sitting with the three young boys in the Yang pavilion ready to tell a story that doesn’t exist.
It was still odd that Xiu Junjie was sitting, waiting patiently for Si Ning to start the story without saying a word, Xiu Yuan looked excited while Yan Dong seemed interested in whatever Si Ning had to say.
"The story I am about to tell you is about me, the tail of Great General Si Ning in the wasteland." Si Ning said making his voice sound like a narrator and he was impressed with Xiu Yuan’s shimmering eyes and Yan Dong’s attentive posture.
"What is a wasteland?" Xiu Yuan asked, curiosity written all over his face.
"It is a land of no return." Si Ning replied loving the way Xiu Yuan gasped.
"Hmmm, let’s get over with the story." Xiu Junjie frowned, his hands folded across his chest.
It was written all over Xiu Junjie’s face that he was probably telling Si Ning to get on with the story, Si Ning was glad that Xiu Junjie said it in a polite manner which saved him face.
"It is not just a story, it is a true-life story that happened during the last war." Si Ning corrected as he shook out his sleeves. "It happened to me when I was on the battlefield, cutting down the enemies ya ya ya." He demonstrated that he was using his sword to cut people down. "I raised my head." He tilted his head up and used his hand to create a shade above his eyes. "I sighted the leader of the army and quickly jumped on a horse yah! to chase and cut off the leader’s head but do you know what happened?" He asked.
"What?" Xiu Yuan asked instantly.
Si Ning chuckled, this time he was able to notice Xiu Junjie’s attention was now on him and he seemed to be immersed in the story because his eyes were almost bulging out of their sockets. "I was on the horse going yah yah yah without knowing there was a trap at the front, a dip pit covered with leaves." He demonstrated with his hands how deep the pit was. "I fell right into in, crashed in with the horse, and then.."
"Then what!" Xiu Yuan shirked.
At this moment Si Ning had grabbed all the people present attention even Ah Dai that was in the last war was attentive to him acting like he wasn’t there with Si Ning, Xiao Pei only wore a straight face while Elder Qin was now directly staring at him, already forgotten they mustn’t stare at the Emperor’s wife for long, Yang Sheng looked tensed while Yan Dong seemed shocked.
"The horse fell faster than me because of the weight and acted as a cushion for me when I landed, the horse landed on a stone, which sent the horse into cardiac arrest...."
"What is Cardiac arrest?" Yan Dong asked.
"A point of no return." Si Ning replied satisfied by Yan Dong’s shocked expression. "The horse died, I hit my head on the horseback which made me suffer a slight concoction, there was no way to climb up so the only way for me to get out was to find a way, I saw a narrowed passage on the way so I crawled my way in without knowing I will find my self in a Mount doom called Modoor, in the land of Sauron, a six-legged big spider that I fought with its children for three days and three night but I prevail, even though I received many injuries, including a claw that rooted deep in my chest." He placed a hand on where he received an arrow wound. "I thought I will die but I remember I have people waiting for my return so I tried to stay awake for two more days digging a small hole before I was rescued by my subordinate who came in through the hole I was digging." Si Ning concluded his story, he was expecting a round of applause but the atmosphere seemed like they were in mourning, when he raised his head he saw Elder Qin wiping her tears, Yang Sheng nodding.
"Young Master...!!!." Ah Dai cried.
Oh what was with the overreacting?
It wasn’t Si Ning’s intention to make Ah Dai cry because Ah Dai was balling his eyes out as he cried, grabbing a hold of his lap, Yan Dong’s eyes were filled with admiration while Xiu Yuan seemed confused, Xiu Junjie was speechless and it seemed he was thinking about what he just heard.
"Ah Dai." Si Ning had no idea what to say maybe to break it to them he just told them bulls but he doesn’t mean to spoil the mood also it was the first time he made Xiu Junjie speechless so he doesn’t want to spoil his victory he was basking in, instead he nodded like he finally let out a secret about the last war while he wore a somewhat sad expression like he just recalled a sad experience.
"Master Ah Dai... Is... So useless, why did Ah Dai allow Young Master to go through such...." Ah Dai cried. "I am so happy that Master stayed alive... uoooo.."
The only person that seemed indifferent about the story was Xiao Pei, his expression unreadable but Si Ning wasn’t worried about him.
"Why is the spider called Sa..a..yu..on?" Xiu Yuan asked staring at Ah Dai with a confused expression.
"It is called Sauron because it had only eight eyes, the children are called Saruman." Si Ning said a bunch of nonsense, the names were what he remembered from a movie titled ’Lord of the Rings.’
"Did Sau..u..ron use all its eyes to see?" Xiu Yuan asked now patting Ah Dai on the head like he was trying to comfort him.
"Yes it does, it can spot anything from far." Si Ning nodded, starting to believe all the lies he was spouting.
"Is it fast?" Xiu Yuan asked.
"So fast you might miss it." Si Ning replied.
"But didn’t you say you were going to tell a story about two boys?" Xiu Junjie asked.
Si Ning had no idea what Xiu Junjie was talking about, it might have been something he said. "Yes, it is a top-secret that is why I decided to keep it a secret." He lied because he couldn’t crack his brain to add more lies.
"Young Master! Don’t tell me it is those boys?" Ah Dai asked, his eyes widened, and his tears instantly stopped flowing as he seemed alert.
"Oh no no Ah Dai not them my subordinates didn’t find me quick, I was helped by them each supporting my shoulder as they moved, it is such a shameless act for me to be so weak, that is why I want to keep it a secret." Si Ning said hoping they would stop asking questions.
"Imperial father told me to listen to you and maybe I might learn something but I don’t know what I learned from this." Xiu Junjie said sounding disappointed.
Wow.
Si Ning was glad to know Xiu Zhicheng interacted with Xiu Junjie. "The moral of the story is not to give up, I didn’t give up then that is why I am here, no matter how worst the situation may look but never give up."
"I want to fight a Sauron, I can!" Xiu Yuan declared as he stood up. "I have been training in mar...tial art.. I can beat it, I have to tell the Imperial tutor... To lead the way." He announced.
Before Si Ning could say a word, Xiu Yuan had started running once again but not towards him but away from him. Yan Dong also jumped down the pavilion to chase after Xiu Yuan. Elder Qin’s eyes widened as she started to give chase with the rest of the palace maidens.
".. Hey Imperial younger brother! Stupid don’t!" Xiu Junjie shouted but Xiu Yuan kept moving further away. "Not the Imperial tutor, oh heavens not him..." He said as he also jumped down from the pavilion to run after Xiu Yuan.
Si Ning took a deep breath of relief stretching his neck to catch a glimpse of Xiu Yuan, the boy had gotten good at running, Elder Qin and the palace maidens skirt were too long and big it prevented them from catching up but Yan Dong caught up, he didn’t stop Xiu Yuan but ran alongside him while Xiu Junjie was lagging.
All that was left was for Si Ning to hope the Imperial Tutor didn’t reveal that Sauron doesn’t exist and also he had to deal with Ah Dai who was still crying on his lap saying he deserves death for making his Master go through such.
