Chapter 307: Chapter 306- Date(1)

"Are you going?" Austin raised his brows upon being asked as he looked at the boy sitting across from him, quietly eating.

Valerie was too tired after morning training, so Austin was having breakfast with Rudolph instead.

Rhea and Parkinson were in the library—he was helping her with an assignment so she wouldn’t fail.

Rudolph looked surprised. "You? A guy like you doesn’t know about the festival?"

Austin gave a dry smile at the teasing before asking, "What festival? I haven’t heard of any."

The summer festival was still months away, and nothing else came to mind.

"Oh... you mean the Harvest Festival?"

Rudolph nodded. "Yep. You know the town of Midir? They go all out with the celebration there. I’m thinking of taking Rhea—but with that assignment, she might not agree."

He added with a shrug, "It’s a peaceful place. Pretty too. You really shouldn’t miss it."

Austin paused, then a small smile tugged at his lips. "Hmm~ That does sound nice."

------**------

Austin was on his way back to his room, eager to tell Valerie about the festival, when suddenly—

"Young master," a voice called out.

He stopped in his tracks and turned. It was Sebastian, looking unusually tense.

"Did something happen?" Austin asked with a frown, noticing the panic on the older man’s face.

Sebastian hesitated, then said, "Young master... could we speak in the office?"

Austin gave a small nod, and the two headed into the room, closing the door behind them.

Once Austin sat down, Sebastian finally spoke.

"I received a letter from the Capital..." He took a steadying breath. "Drenovar has agreed to sign a truce."

"..."

Austin blinked, speechless. That was it? All that tension... for this?

Sebastian noticed the odd reaction. "Did you already hear about it?"

Austin gave a short laugh. "Not exactly. And sorry for not telling you sooner—I visited Drenovar recently and gave them a hand with a few things. In return, they agreed to let go of the past grudges."

Sebastian only looked more confused.

Austin could understand why. Sure, he was stronger now, but how could one person possibly resolve a conflict that had lasted for centuries?

Austin got up from his seat before telling the man, "Take rest Sebas. Tomorrow, you will find out everything about the incident."

Sebastian remained silent as Austin walked out.

He walked toward his room, expecting Valerie to be inside.

And sure enough, when he opened the door, he found her there—along with someone else he recognized.

"...What are you two doing?" he asked, surprised. One was sitting on the bed, the other on the chair.

They were both focused, fingers carefully moving as they knitted something.

Valerie looked up at him without stopping her hands. Selner, meanwhile, kept her eyes on the yarn, still a little awkward in her movements.

"Hello," Valerie greeted softly. She closed her eyes as he walked over, hugged her gently, and kissed the crown of her head.

"Selner wanted to learn something to pass the time," she explained.

Austin let out a small hum. "You know you can go out if you’re bored, right?"

He knew Selner wasn’t as strong as she once was—but she wasn’t helpless either.

She still had teleportation magic. If things ever went south, she could vanish in a flash.

Selner let out a quiet sigh. "I don’t like crowded places much, so I usually avoid going out."

Austin tilted his head. "Want me to take you somewhere quiet and peaceful?"

That made Selner pause. Her fingers stopped. She glanced at Valerie, unsure if she’d be upset.

But Valerie didn’t seem to mind. She was leaning against Austin, a soft smile on her face as she calmly continued knitting.

Selner bit her lip, then gave a small hum in response.

Austin made a mental note to take her somewhere nice in a few days. After all, someone who once roamed the world freely was now confined within four walls.

Then he turned toward Valerie.

"You free this evening?"

Valerie blinked. "I have an assignment to finish... but nothing urgent. Are we going somewhere?"

The excitement in her voice was already unmistakable.

Austin nodded with a small smile. "Just be ready this evening. I’ll come pick you up."

Valerie practically lit up. But unfortunately, it was still morning. She had to wait for several long hours.

Austin then turned to Selner. "The Council agreed to protect Eryndor."

Selner raised an eyebrow. "That was fast... Who did you threaten?"

Austin let out a quiet chuckle. "You really think so little of me, huh? I didn’t threaten anyone—just defeated a certain hero."

Selner paused, then looked up at him. "You didn’t break William’s confidence, did you? He’s a valuable asset on our side."

Austin grinned. "I simply reminded him there’s still plenty of room to grow—even for someone like him."

And with that, Selner understood why the Council had agreed so quickly.

Watching their so-called ultimate warrior fall right in front of them must have stirred panic.

An anomaly had appeared out of nowhere, bringing with it the severed heads of powerful demons, then going on to defeat the one they believed was invincible.

It was more than a statement. It was a warning.

"So, they’ve requested an audience with the King," Austin said calmly. "And I’ll be getting involved from here on."

Valerie’s eyes widened. "Won’t that cause an uproar in the other nations?"

The Council stepping in directly to protect a single nation... it was bound to stir unrest.

Their involvement wasn’t just rare—it was political fire.

Austin shrugged, "Father always dreamed of making Eryndor a strong nation. I am just playing my role as the crowned Prince."

Austin wasn’t just looking at the immediate threat of the Demon Lord.

He was heading towards a future where he would create a peaceful world.

A world without the fear of demons or the Gods.
