Chapter 83: I never lose a battle (Alpha Zach)

"I have restored you to your position, but you must be cautious not to fall under the influence of any dark spells," I advised Hart, watching as he humbly bowed his head in acknowledgment.

"Now, return to your duties and remember to keep certain matters within the confines of the pack house."

His expression of excitement and gratitude was overwhelming, but it was time for me to move forward. "Instruct the scribes to send out invitations for our Luna’s coronation. I will be away for a few days, but there is no need for the tribe members to be informed."

"Zach, where are you going?" Bella whispered anxiously, her concern evident in her voice. I reassured her, "We can discuss it in the bedroom. Let me have some time with our son first."

Zeke’s face lit up at the prospect of spending time with me. "Yes, dad, I’ve been looking forward to it."

Placing my hand around his neck, I led him to the gym where the other warriors had already left. The omegas were cleaning, so I dismissed them before talking to him.

"Son, I’m really sorry for not being there for you."

"I’ve learned that people make mistakes, and from the rumors, yours was terrible, but spells are bad too. Dad, I’m glad to have you here, so let’s forget the past as long as you never hurt mom again." He was so young yet sounded so serious.

"You don’t have to worry about that. I brought you here to let you know that I’m going somewhere at the break of dawn. You have to take good care of your mother no matter what."

He smiled. "I already know the reason for this quest. Victory is ours, dad." Sometimes, I felt like I was talking to my younger self because he had so many of my features that I found it hard to believe his age.

"Son, if you were to choose..." he quickly interrupted me. "Dad, I’m young. Let me explore and wait for a sibling. Depending on their gender and strength, I will decide what I want. Rest assured, I won’t bring harm to this tribe."

Why did I feel like I lost the opportunity to see him grow? Everything began the moment I entered his life. I wondered if things would have been different if I had stayed back. Would he have grown at a normal rate?

"I know you won’t bring harm to this tribe. As much as I want to help you train, I can only do that after your mother’s coronation. I hope you understand that," I asked, feeling worried. He nodded.

"I understand. Do what you must. I will train with the other warriors and Gaius. They all seem nice."

A sigh of relief escaped me as I embraced him tightly. "You have grown fast, so your responsibilities will be great. I will teach you many things, and you must prepare for leadership," I informed him.

He smiled at me as I wrapped my arms around him in a tight embrace, but then he pulled away and his canine elongated.

"It’s good talking to you, Dad, but I need to go. I have some juice in the fridge." When discussing the fridge, I understood that he was referring to beetroot juice, but Zion informed me that every time he prepared it for Belle, he also gave some to Zeke.

Did this mean that Zeke’s cravings for blood were stronger than his mother’s?

"Zeke..." I began, but his super speed made it impossible to catch up. He had already disappeared. When I arrived at the pack house, Belle looked troubled.

"His cravings are intense. He drank two glasses of beetroot juice but still locked himself in his room to control his thirst. He mentioned that he can smell blood when he’s near us."

Zeke is not a pure-blood vampire, so his cravings shouldn’t be so strong. What could be causing this?

"Don’t worry, Belle. Trust me on this," I said earnestly, but she seemed unsettled. "I can’t help but worry."

"But worrying won’t change anything. Take care of the tribe while I’m away. I will freshen up and depart with Gaius and some warriors.

" As I turned to ascend the stairs, she quickly embraced me from behind. "Zach, I’m so scared. What if nothing goes as planned? And what if Zeke bites someone?" She urgently asked. I reassured her,

"I have a feeling that Draven is orchestrating all of this to put you at his mercy, but don’t worry. Once we rescue your mother, everything will be fine."

She struggled to believe me, evident in her eyes, and I could understand her doubts. "I understand your fears, Belle, but Zeke is stronger and wiser than you think. He would rather lock himself up to fight his cravings than harm anyone."

My words seemed to calm her, and she followed me to the bedroom as I mind-linked Gaius to prepare everything we would need, including garlic spray, a mirror, and bright lights.

These were items we already had from previous wars. As someone who preyed on the weak to survive, I made sure to identify the weaknesses of my opponents, and vampires were no exception.

I was amazed by my mate’s desire for me, which made me feel guilty as I didn’t feel deserving of her attention. "Are you going to leave just like that?" she asked with a seductive look, already half-naked.

"Well, we need a solution for our son, so the sooner, the better," I replied.

She ran her soft palm around my chest and smiled flirtatiously. "Didn’t you promise me that he would fight and win this battle on his own?"

Without a word, I kissed her and carried her to the bed. For the next two hours, I gave her what she needed, making sure she fell asleep before I quietly left the bedroom to join Gaius and the warriors waiting for me.

Zion was lounging on the sofa as I updated him. "Hart hasn’t mastered the job yet and is still under observation. You and Belle are the only ones I trust."

He grinned. "Aren’t you afraid I’ll steal your tribe?" I chuckled. "You might, but Belle won’t. She gave me life over and over again, including our son, so good luck trying to take over my tribe."

This was the first time I felt so light, without the fear of somebody taking what was mine, and it was all because of my mate.

Surely, I didn’t trust Zion, but with Bella, I was certain of the safety of the tribe and its members.

Due to the items we carried, we couldn’t travel in wolf form, so we decided on four vans and three sports cars. Though ready for war, I wasn’t going to start until I had a peace chat.

After traveling for over ten hours, we arrived at the vampire castle in the early hours of the morning. At the gate, I requested Draven.

It wasn’t long before he arrived, and with our cars parked far away and me barely covered, he had no idea that I had a team.

"Alpha Zach travels alone to the vampire castle. Does he have a death wish?" He taunted, but my expression was calm. You should know by now that death is afraid of me. I have escaped it countless times, so what do you think?"

"Why are you here?" He asked, his expression serious as I quickly replied, "You know why I’m here. All I want is my mother-in-law. Give her to me, and no one gets hurt."

He laughed, as I expected. "Alpha Zach, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of vampires. No matter how tough you are, are you sure you can take us all down?"

"Try me," I responded confidently. "Prince Draven, it is wrong for you to keep Belle’s mother against her will. Even if she agreed to it, she will not refuse seeing her daughter’s coronation."

His pale face grew even paler. "What are you talking about? Annabelle will not marry you. She has a Lycan mate too, and he should be at your tribe by now," he revealed, confusion washing over me.

"What are you talking about?"

"Well, her mother tried to seek help from her ex, and the only way they would assist her is if she marries Annabelle to the Lycan King’s son, the heir. I suppose it’s too late now, Alpha Zach."

This was the most bizarre and absurd thing I had ever heard. "No, she wouldn’t. She is aware of my bond with Anna. We can never be separated. Let me speak to her directly," I requested, but he shook his head.

"No, you can’t. Annabelle is supposed to make me the king, and in her absence, her mother will assume the role until she is ready to take it on," he revealed, fueling my anger.

"Prince Draven, this is my final warning. Allow me to see my mother-in-law now, or I will turn this castle upside down until I find her."

As he appeared hesitant to comply, I quickly reminded him, "Don’t forget, I never lose a battle."
