Chapter 80: The Launch
As Suho finally opened his eyes, he blinked a few times, taking in Haeun’s dressed-up figure and the faint smell of breakfast still lingering in the air. He paused, tilting his head with curiosity. "Where are you going, Haeun-Hyung?"
Haeun smiled, brushing his hair back. "My company. We have a big event today—the launch of Edge of the Shadows. I wanted to bring you with me, so get dressed, wear this, and come down for breakfast." He handed Suho a neatly folded shirt, hoping it would excite him.
Once Suho was dressed and ready, the two of them made their way downstairs, where Azel and Dojin were waiting. They exchanged cheerful greetings, and Haeun couldn’t help but feel a rush of warmth seeing Suho’s excitement.
After a quick breakfast of pancakes and bacon, they piled into the car, with Haeun and Suho settling in the backseat, chatting animatedly about the day ahead. Haeun felt a mix of anticipation and nerves building inside him.
When they arrived at the company’s headquarters, Haeun took a deep breath, feeling the familiar buzz of excitement that came with a game launch. He turned to Suho, who was gazing around with wide eyes. "Are you ready for the launch?" Haeun asked, a grin spreading across his face.
"Yeah! What’s a game launch like?" Suho asked, his voice filled with curiosity.
Haeun chuckled, thinking back to his first launch event. "It’s pretty exciting. There will be presentations, and people will be talking about the new game—Edge of the Shadows. You’ll get to see some cool displays and maybe even try out the game early."
"Cool! Can we play it?" Suho bounced in his seat, his eagerness infectious.
Haeun nodded, feeling a rush of pride at being able to share this moment with Suho. "If everything goes well, yes! Just stay close to me, okay?"
As they approached the entrance, Haeun felt his stomach fluttering with nerves. He gave Suho a reassuring smile before they walked inside. The vibrant energy of the company buzzed around them, filling Haeun with a sense of purpose and belonging.
Once inside, they were greeted by a wave of familiar faces. Haeun exchanged quick hellos with colleagues, all while keeping an eye on Suho, who was taking in the impressive setup of the event. Colorful banners, interactive displays, and a crowd of excited fans filled the lobby, amplifying the atmosphere.
"Wow, look at all this!" Suho exclaimed, pulling Haeun toward a large screen displaying game trailers.
Haeun chuckled, following Suho’s lead. "That’s just the beginning. Come on, let’s find our spot. They’ll have a special area for us to watch the presentation."
They made their way through the crowd, and as they settled into their designated area, Haeun couldn’t shake the feeling of anticipation. The lights dimmed, and the presentation began, showcasing the latest innovations and features of Edge of the Shadows. Haeun felt his heart race with excitement as he watched, grateful for the chance to share this experience with Suho.
Throughout the presentation, Haeun glanced at Suho, whose eyes were glued to the screen, filled with wonder. It was moments like these that made Haeun realize how much he cherished this bond with Suho—sharing his passion for games and seeing the joy it brought to the younger boy’s face.
As the presentation concluded, Haeun couldn’t help but feel proud of the work they had all put into the game. "What did you think?" he asked Suho, leaning closer to hear his thoughts.
"It was amazing! Can we try it now?" Suho asked, bouncing in his seat, clearly ready for more.
Haeun chuckled, nodding. "Soon, I promise. Let’s wait for the crowd to settle down a bit, and then we’ll check it out together."
As the event officially kicked off, the lights dimmed further, and the buzz in the room turned to an eager silence. The MC, a charismatic figure with a captivating presence, stepped up to the microphone and greeted the audience with a wide smile.
"Welcome, everyone, to the launch of Edge of the Shadows! We’re thrilled to have you all here for this special occasion, where gaming history will be made!"
The crowd erupted in applause, and Haeun felt a surge of excitement mixed with nerves as he prepared for his moment on stage. The MC continued, his voice echoing throughout the venue. "And now, we have a very special guest who has played a pivotal role in bringing this game to life. Please welcome our CEO and lead developer, CEO Yoon!"
With that, the spotlight shifted dramatically, illuminating Haeun as he stepped forward from the side of the stage. The warmth of the light enveloped him, and for a brief moment, he was taken aback by the sudden attention. The sound of applause washed over him, filling the air with excitement.
Haeun took a deep breath to steady himself, a mix of pride and anxiety bubbling inside him. He walked to the front of the stage, his heart pounding in his chest as he scanned the audience. Among the sea of faces, he spotted Suho, who was clapping enthusiastically, his eyes shining with admiration. Haeun’s heart swelled at the sight.
As he reached the microphone, he cleared his throat, trying to calm the butterflies in his stomach. "Thank you, everyone," he began, his voice steady despite the fluttering inside him. "It’s an honor to be here today for the launch of Edge of the Shadows—a project that has been a labor of love for all of us at the company."
The audience leaned in, captivated by his words. Haeun felt a sense of warmth enveloping him, as if their shared excitement was energizing him. He continued, "This game is not just a product; it’s the culmination of countless hours of hard work, creativity, and passion from our entire team. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together."
As he spoke, Haeun’s confidence grew, fueled by the supportive atmosphere surrounding him. He shared insights about the game’s development process, the challenges they faced, and the innovative features that made Edge of the Shadows unique. His words flowed easily, and he could see the audience nodding along, engaged and eager.
"Today, I invite you all to immerse yourselves in this world we’ve created. It’s more than just a game; it’s an experience—a chance to step into a new reality where you can forge your own path," Haeun said, his enthusiasm palpable. "Thank you for being here to celebrate this milestone with us."
