Chapter 111: Hana(2)

As the lesson went on, Suho focused on his work, carefully writing each character in his notebook. Every now and then, he could feel Hana fidgeting beside him, her foot lightly tapping against her chair leg. She seemed like the type who found it hard to sit still for long.

Sure enough, as soon as their teacher gave them a short break, Hana turned to him, leaning in slightly. "Hey, Suho, do you like bunnies?"

Suho blinked at the sudden question. He thought for a second before giving a small nod.

Hana clapped her hands together softly. "Me too! They’re my favorite! I have a bunny plushie at home named Carrot, and I take him everywhere! Well, not here, because my mom said he might get dirty, but still! What’s your favorite animal?"

Suho hesitated, gripping his pencil lightly. He hadn’t really thought about it before. After a moment, he mumbled, "Dogs... maybe."

Hana gasped like he had just revealed the most exciting secret in the world. "Dogs?! No way! I love dogs too! But my mom says I can’t have one because they’re a lot of work. Do you have a dog?"

Suho shook his head.

"Aww, me neither," Hana sighed dramatically, resting her chin in her hands.

Hana sighed, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "If I had a dog, I’d name it... hmm... Dubu! Or Bori! Or maybe even Hodoo if it was really cute!"

Suho tilted his head slightly. He recognized those words—Dubu (tofu), Bori (barley), and Hodoo (walnut). They were all cozy, friendly-sounding names.

"What would you name yours?" Hana asked eagerly, leaning closer.

Suho hesitated. He had never thought about naming a dog before. "...Maybe Mongi?" he murmured.

Hana gasped dramatically. "Mongi?! That’s so cute! Okay, okay, if you ever get a dog, you have to name it Mongi, and if I get one, I’ll name it Dubu. Then they can be best friends, just like us!"

Suho blinked at her in surprise. "Best friends?"

"Yup!" Hana grinned, holding out her pinky. "You have to pinky promise, though. That’s the rule."

After a moment, Suho slowly hooked his pinky with hers.

Hana practically vibrated with excitement. "Yay! Best friends forever!"

Suho wasn’t sure about forever, but... he found himself nodding again.

Maybe having a best friend wouldn’t be so bad.

Hana swung her legs under the desk, humming to herself as she looked at Suho curiously. "Hey, Suho," she began, tilting her head. "Are your parents alphas or omegas?"

Suho’s fingers curled around his pencil as he stared at his notebook, Hana’s question lingering in the air.

"Your parents... are they Alphas or Omegas?" she had asked again, tilting her head curiously.

He didn’t answer right away. His grip on the pencil tightened slightly. Parents. Haeun and Yeongsoo weren’t really his parents, not by blood. He knew that.

But... they were his family too.

He went quiet, unsure how to respond.

Hana, waited patiently despite being a chatterbox, she blinked at him, waiting for his reply.

Finally, in a small voice, Suho mumbled, "Alpha and Omega."

Hana’s eyes widened slightly in fascination. "Whoa, really? That’s cool! My parents are Alpha and Beta."

Suho nodded absently, still feeling a bit uncertain. Then, as if grasping for something lighter, something safe, he added, "I’m going to have a little brother soon."

Hana’s eyes lit up. "Really? What’s his name?"

Suho’s lips curled up just a little. "I call him Mini Mino."

Hana giggled. "That’s so nice, my parents don’t want to have anymore kids..putu..they say I’m already too much work. But that’s because I’m still a kid, once I grow up I’ll do lots of stuff on my own.."

Suho listened quietly as Hana continued chattering, her hands animated as she spoke.

"I mean, I do make a mess sometimes," she admitted with a sheepish grin. "Like last week, I accidentally spilled juice on the couch, and my mom said, ’Hana, you! Aiyah.. always so messy, you have to be careful.’ But it wasn’t my fault! The cup was just too full!"

Suho blinked at her, not sure what to say. He’d never met someone who talked so much in one breath.

Hana leaned in closer. "Do you make a mess a lot?"

Suho shook his head slowly.

"Wow, you must be really neat!" she gasped. "Or maybe you just don’t get caught?"

That made Suho pause. He didn’t think he was messy, but he supposed he never really had the chance to be. Haeun and Yeongsoo always made sure he had a clean space, and he always tried to keep it that way.

Hana sighed dramatically. "I wish I was like that. My mom always says I leave my toys everywhere. But!" She held up a finger. "I’m really good at organizing my sticker collection! Do you like stickers?"

Suho shrugged.

Hana’s jaw dropped. "Just a shrug?! Suho! Stickers are amazing! I have sparkly ones, fluffy ones, even glow-in-the-dark ones! If we become bestest of best friends, I’ll give you one!"

Suho blinked again. "...Okay."

"Okay? Just okay?" Hana huffed before suddenly gasping, her blue eyes shining. "Wait, what if I gave you a bunny sticker? Would you like that?"

Suho hesitated, then gave a small nod.

Hana beamed. "Then it’s settled! I’ll bring you one tomorrow! But you have to promise to actually use it, okay?"

Suho didn’t really know what he’d do with a bunny sticker, but seeing how excited she was, he nodded again.

Hana giggled happily, swinging her legs under her chair. "You’re really quiet, but that’s okay! I talk enough for both of us."

Suho wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be a good thing, but he didn’t mind listening.

Just then, their teacher clapped her hands at the front of the class. "Alright, everyone, break time is over! Let’s get back to our lesson."

"Do you like teacher Su-gi? I think she’s very nice and explains whatever don’t understand.."

Suho didn’t say anything, Hana was a distraction, that was for sure. But he guessed the teacher wasn’t so bad.
