Chapter 101: Full blown snack run
Haeun relaxed in Yeongsoo’s embrace, his eyes fluttering closed as he let the warmth of the moment settle in. But before he could fully lose himself in the comfort of it, Yeongsoo’s deep voice rumbled close to his ear.
"If you really want to take care of me," Yeongsoo began, his tone dropping an octave, "you could start by helping me relieve some stress later tonight."
Haeun’s eyes snapped open, his cheeks immediately flushing crimson. "W-What are you talking about?" he stammered, trying to pull back, but Yeongsoo’s arms tightened around him, holding him in place.
Yeongsoo smirked, his lips brushing lightly against the shell of Haeun’s ear. "You know exactly what I mean, Hyung."
Haeun’s heart pounded in his chest as he squirmed in embarrassment. "Y-You’re impossible," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Leaning in even closer, Yeongsoo let his lips ghost over Haeun’s ear as he whispered, "Am I? Or are you just shy because you were already thinking about it?"
Haeun’s breath hitched, and he pushed weakly against Yeongsoo’s chest. "Stop teasing me! I was not thinking about anything.." he hissed, his face burning.
Yeongsoo chuckled, the sound low and full of mischief. "I can’t help it. You’re too cute when you blush."
"You’re insufferable," Haeun grumbled, though his voice lacked any real bite.
"Hm," Yeongsoo hummed, finally loosening his hold but not entirely letting go. "If it makes you feel better, I’ll let you off for now. But later... you’re all mine..." His voice trailed off suggestively, leaving Haeun to fill in the blanks.
Haeun groaned, burying his face in his hands to hide his reddened cheeks. "You’re such a jerk."
"And yet, you still love me," Yeongsoo teased, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of Haeun’s head.
"Unfortunately," Haeun muttered, though the small smile tugging at his lips betrayed his words.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a golden hue over the room, Yeongsoo stretched his arms and glanced at the clock. "It’s time we head home," he announced, his deep voice cutting through the cozy atmosphere.
Haeun, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor playing with Suho, looked up. "Already?" he asked, a slight pout forming on his lips.
"Yes, already," Yeongsoo said with a teasing smirk. "Unless you’re planning on moving in here permanently."
Haeun rolled his eyes, gently ruffling Suho’s hair before standing. "Alright, but we need to stop by the grocery store on the way back."
Yeongsoo arched an eyebrow. "Why? We still have food at home."
"I want something sweet," Haeun replied, a small smile tugging at his lips.
"Oh? Cravings again?" Yeongsoo asked, stepping closer with a knowing look.
Haeun crossed his arms, pretending to be annoyed. "I’m pregnant, in case you forgot. Cravings are normal."
"I didn’t forget," Yeongsoo said, his smirk widening as he leaned in slightly. "Just tell me what you want, and I’ll make sure you get it."
"Good," Haeun said triumphantly. "But I’m not telling you. I want to see what catches my eye when we get there."
"Of course you do," Yeongsoo muttered with a fond shake of his head.
Suho jumped to his feet, tugging on Haeun’s sleeve. "Can I pick something too, hyung? Please?"
Haeun smiled down at him, his heart softening. "Sure, Suho. You can pick something sweet too."
Suho’s eyes lit up, and he turned to Yeongsoo. "You hear that, Yeongsoo hyung? I get to pick!"
Yeongsoo chuckled and patted Suho’s head. "Fine by me, as long as you don’t go overboard."
At the grocery store, Haeun wandered down the dessert aisle, his eyes scanning the rows of sweets with laser focus. Suho trailed behind him, practically bouncing with excitement as he picked up random treats and brought them to Haeun for approval.
"Hyung, what about this one?" Suho asked, holding up a pack of chocolate-covered marshmallows.
Haeun tilted his head, considering it for a moment before nodding. "That looks good. Put it in the cart."
Suho beamed and rushed to add it to the growing collection of snacks.
Meanwhile, Yeongsoo followed closely behind, pushing the cart and watching with amusement as Haeun and Suho turned the simple errand into a full blown snack run.
"You’re really going all out," Yeongsoo teased, noting the assortment of cookies, candies, and pastries piling up.
Haeun turned to him, his expression unapologetic. "If I’m going to eat something sweet, I need options."
"Options?" Yeongsoo repeated, raising an eyebrow. "This looks more like you’re stocking up for a party."
"Don’t be dramatic," Haeun replied, waving him off.
Suho tugged on Haeun’s sleeve again, holding up a brightly colored box of gummies. "Can I get this one too?"
Haeun smiled and nodded. "Of course, Suho."
As Suho added the gummies to the cart, Haeun caught the way Yeongsoo was watching him, a soft, affectionate look in his eyes.
"What?" Haeun asked, feeling his cheeks warm under the intensity of Yeongsoo’s gaze.
"Nothing," Yeongsoo replied smoothly, though his smile gave him away. "You’re just... adorable when you’re like this."
Haeun frowned, his blush deepening. "Stop saying weird things in public."
"Why? Is it embarrassing?"
"Yes!"
Yeongsoo glanced at Haeun, who was eyeing a small bakery display inside the grocery store. Haeun’s craving for sweets had sparked on their way here, and it seemed he wasn’t leaving without satisfying it.
Haeun pulled a cart and wandered off to the dessert aisle. "I’m thinking maybe something chocolate. Or strawberry. Actually, why not both?"
Yeongsoo trailed behind, his hands casually tucked into his pockets, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Aren’t you a bit indecisive today? Do you plan on clearing out the entire aisle?"
Haeun gave him a light glare, though it lacked any real malice. "I’m pregnant. I get a pass for cravings. You just wait—you’re carrying all of this."
Suho, who was walking alongside them, glanced up at the desserts and then at Haeun’s stomach. His expression was neutral, but his words carried the faintest edge of curiosity. "You want to eat all of that for the baby?"
Haeun blinked at him, a small laugh slipping out. "Not all of it. Just some. The baby deserves the best, don’t you think?"
Suho’s brow furrowed, his tone skeptical. "Sugar doesn’t seem like the best thing for a baby."
Yeongsoo couldn’t hold back a quiet laugh as he reached over to ruffle Suho’s hair. "You sound like a little doctor. You’re not wrong, though."
Suho stepped out of reach, his gaze cool but not unkind. "I’m just saying. Too much sugar isn’t good."
Haeun pouted slightly, pulling a box of chocolate mousse from the shelf. "It’s fine. It’s just a little treat. Besides, I’ll balance it out later with something healthy."
"Like what?" Suho asked, crossing his arms as he looked up at him.
"Vegetables," Haeun replied with exaggerated seriousness, making Suho blink, then shrug as though he didn’t believe him.
"Sure," Suho said, his tone flat as he glanced back at the shelf. "Whatever you say."
Yeongsoo chuckled under his breath as he leaned closer to Haeun. "The kid’s got you figured out already."
Haeun sighed dramatically. "He’s not wrong, but can’t a guy indulge a little?"
After they finished picking up a mix of treats and groceries, Haeun paid at the register while Suho silently carried a smaller bag. As they walked out of the store, the wind picked up slightly, rustling the edges of Haeun’s jacket.
Yeongsoo walked beside him, his arm brushing against Haeun’s. He leaned closer, his lips near Haeun’s ear, and murmured low enough that Suho wouldn’t hear. "If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re using the baby as an excuse to spoil yourself. But don’t worry—I’ll spoil you more when we get home."
Haeun turned to him, his face heating as he tried to muster a scolding look. "Yeongsoo, not in public," he hissed, his blush betraying his attempt at sternness.
"Not in public, huh?" Yeongsoo teased, his smirk growing. "Guess I’ll save it for later."
Haeun groaned and walked ahead quickly, leaving Suho to glance between them with a raised brow, his expression saying adults are so weird as he trailed behind them.
As they returned home, Yeongsoo took the lead, heading straight for the kitchen. He had promised Haeun something sweet, and he was eager to deliver. Suho followed quietly behind them, his footsteps light as he entered the kitchen, though he stopped just inside the doorway, keeping a bit of distance. His eyes flitted between Haeun and Yeongsoo, watching them with an intensity that was hard to read.
"You want to help?" Yeongsoo asked, glancing over his shoulder as he pulled out ingredients for a dessert.
Suho hesitated, his arms crossed over his chest. He looked at Haeun for a moment, as if searching for reassurance, before slowly walking over to the counter.
"I’ll help," Suho muttered softly, his voice not quite as distant as usual.
Yeongsoo smiled at the boy, a genuine warmth in his expression. "Good. You can mix the ingredients while I prepare the rest.."
