Chapter 113 - 112: Paragon VS Gentleman!

Chapter 113: Chapter 112: Paragon VS Gentleman!

When Paragon had fired the string of five arrows and the single curved shot, he had made it so that the timing of the arrows and the curved arrow would hit at the same time as the first arrow of the first string of arrows.

After clearing out those two, there were only four arrows now left from the string of arrows. The second and third arrows from the string of arrows were also easily blocked. But what no body had noticed was that a team of a dozen arrows which had been split into a team of three and nine had arrived at exactly this same time.

At the time the fourth arrow of the first string of arrows collided with the shield, the first group of three arrows also collided with the shield.

Baker’s shield had been covered in his magic power enhancing its defensive ability but when the four arrows exploded on contact with it. The power they had carried destroyed the Barrier formed by magic power on the shield.

This exposed the shield to the next set of nine arrows that had been set to hit at exactly the same time, at the same point on the shield. And the power of these nine arrows was released at the same time completely destroying Baker’s shield.

Once the shield was gone the path was open for the fifth and last of the string of arrows to easily pass through and get to Baker.

It was also this arrow that carried the Shadow arrow that killed Baker.

Silence!

When they finished watching the replay everybody was dumbstruck.

The whole thing was a gradual process of one grand plot that had been orchestrated by Paragon. Even the curved shot failing had been part of the plan.

That is because its use was never to take out Baker, but to force him to draw his second shield away.

The experts among the audience that watched this fight all had grim expressions.

Many people had been expecting that thanks to the effect of the Magnetic Mountains on the terrain, Paragon would lose his teleportation ability’s advantage, so he would definitely lose. But at the end of the day he had still won.

As Julia watched the replay herself, something else weighed on her minds now. Paragon controlled more than one elemental affinity and he seemed to be really good at using them.

The problem was that nobody knew just how many abilities he had. He had only shown three so far, not to forget that terrifying battle awareness and his skill with all the weapons that fell into his hands. Was he really a true master in every weapon and combat style?

...

A bright light wrapped around Baker and teleported him out of the map. At the same time a loud voice resounded though the battlefield.

Paragon Wins!

A few seconds later Paragon was also teleported out.

Drake let out a breath, and then he smiled. Luckily, Baker was only a 2 Star Mage or things would have gotten complicated. That had gone down much easier than he had expected.

From the moment Drake had seen Baker’s information with the ’Eyes of Order’, Drake had decided to end the battle quickly. That is because Baker was a Shield Guard he wouldn’t attack, and the fight would just be a battle of attrition. And Drake really didn’t want the battle to end in a draw. Also the guy was a Barrier mage, and Drake already had Barrier Power so the fight was useless. That is why he had immediately brought out the exploding arrows.

Actually, while a lot of people had thought that Drake had wasted a chance by exposing the Exploding arrow prematurely, that was not the case and Drake had actually not wasted that shot.

Drake had never been in a real battle where he used Exploding arrows before, so he had used that first arrow to test just how powerful they were. Once he knew how powerful they were, he was finally able to calculate how to destroy the energy shield and take out the Shield Guard without wasting any moves.

Drake didn’t like wasted moves in fights. If he wanted to kill you and he could do it in one move, then he definitely would not use a second.

After a few seconds Drake sent another Challenge. The last fight didn’t overdraft him so he was good to go for another run.

Just like that Drake went through eight more fights.

As expected he kept using random weapons. While he was in the ninth fight for the day however, he thought of something that caused his expression to change.

If he kept selecting random weapons and one day he ran into a 3 Star mage opponent, what would happen if the selection did not give him bows and arrows or a throwing type weapon. Or what if he turned out to be barehanded from the selection?

He would have no way to fight long range with long range. Drake couldn’t help but ponder about this more.

Drake knew he had been lucky that his first 3 star mage opponent was Julia. If it had been a mage that focused on spells that attack long range, then he would have lost in an instant.

And while he could teleport around to avoid getting hit, it would not change much. Humans were not the same as Magic Beasts. You could use your sense of imagination to outsmart and defeat a Magic Beast, but it wouldn’t always work against another human who also had a sense of imagination.

’I need to get a way to use long range attacks without a need of weapons.’ Drake concluded. But how? I need to be a 3 star mage if I want to use magic energy to attack.

Drake walked into the last battle for the day with this thought on his mind. His next opponent appeared at the same time.

It was a young man who wore an Ash colored suit, while holding a multicolored Umbrella resting on his shoulder in his left hand while his right was in his pocket. This guy did not look like he was here for a fight, but rather looked like a gentleman on his way out for a walk.

He seemed completely harmless, but Drake did not let his guard down and just stared straight at his opponent. Drake knew this guy was a mage, so he must be prepared for anything.

The young man nodded and introduced himself, My name is Arthur Prince, a 3 Star mage. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

Drake was a bit surprised that the young man spoke to him, but he nodded and said one word. Paragon!

Most of Drake’s opponents attacked first and did not bother saying a word, but this gentleman did. Naturally Drake would give him the same respect.

Arthur Prince smiled courteously and said. Paragon I have seen a few of your fights and I must say I am very impressed. Not many people can master as many weapons, or be as all rounded as you are. However, I do not believe that there is such a thing as a perfect all-rounded mage, so I want to see just how you do against my power. Don’t worry though, I will not bully you.

Drake nodded and did not say another word in response.

The opponent was a 3 star mage!

Drake had faced Grade 3 Magic Beasts before, so he knew exactly how terrifying people on that third level of cultivation were. He was still incapable of killing a Grade 3 magic beast on his own, so a 3 star mage would definitely be very difficult.

The Audience stared with batted breaths; Arthur Prince was not just any ordinary mage. He was one of the 10 Kings. Every one of his appearances was followed by a phenomenal feat.

Julia was also a 3 star mage and she did have a lot of potential, but that’s all it was. Potential! But Arthur was the real deal. He was a true blue blood 3 star mage, with lots of battle experience.

Everybody had one thought as this fight was set up.

Paragon’s Death is certain!

Weapon selection: Random

Map: The city.

Battle start!

The weapon selection ended and a Simple Dagger appeared floating in front of Drake.

Drake did not waste time and immediately charged at his opponent. Arthur just stood there and did not say a word. He just watched as Drake approached.

After experiencing so much, Drake wanted to see how he would do against a 3 star mage if the mage was not underestimating him.

As soon as Drake closed the distance between them, his Dagger pierced forward. At the same time, Arthur stabbed forward with his Umbrella.

CLANG!

The Dagger collided with the tip of the umbrella and was stopped in its tracks. Drake gave a mental order and his figure vanished.

’Teleport!’

Drake appeared right behind Arthur and the Dagger shot forth as he stabbed at the back of Arthur’s nape.

Arthur leisurely flicked with his thumb and the Umbrella unraveled. Then he raised it and rested it on his shoulder.

BANG!

There was a loud impact as the Dagger pierced into the Umbrella. But the umbrella did not seem to have been made out of ordinary fabric; instead it was extremely resilient so Drake’s Dagger was unable to pierce through it.

Drake’s brows furrowed slightly. However in that instant Arthur flicked his fingers and the Umbrella began to swirl. With a powerful bang, Drake was instantly thrown off.

Drake was shocked, he had felt an unprecedented strength pass through him when Arthur twirled the umbrella.

This guy is very strong! Drake couldn’t believe it. He was being tossed around by the mere twirling of this guys fingers. Drake spun several times while suspended in mid-air, before he could completely disperse the rotating force around him.

His feet had just touched the ground and Drake was just about activating the ’Eyes of Order’ to scan his opponent, when Arthur suddenly tapped the umbrella softly with his left index finger.

A blinding light flashed from the umbrella illuminating the entire battlefield.

It finally dawned on Drake, that the umbrella was not an ordinary umbrella. It was Arthur’s weapon.

The Umbrella was still held over Arthur’s head keeping the rain away from him. However, after that bright light flashed, the glass on the building behind Arthur shattered forming a torrent of blades that spun through the air and charged at Drake.
