Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Delicious Honey Glazed Grilled Chicken Wings! The Charm of Barbecue!
At Jiang Feng’s barbecue stand.
He was busy grilling meat when, suddenly, several men built like "double-door refrigerators" emerged from the office building opposite him.
These men were enormously built, their muscles bulging. Their arms didn’t hang flush against their sides but were held slightly out, a natural consequence of their massive frames.
A few of them walked towards Jiang Feng’s stand.
The pressure they exuded was palpable.
This is a fitness center, after all, Jiang Feng noted. These guys are seriously huge.
They arrived in front of Jiang Feng’s barbecue stand. Usually, even seven or eight people around the stand wouldn’t make it feel crowded, but now, with just four of them, it felt packed.
The first thing they noticed was the sign.
Their excitement was immediate upon seeing it.
The sign read:
Today’s Special: Grilled Chicken Breast.
It was chicken breast—the very chicken breast adored by fitness enthusiasts!
Chicken breast is a low-fat, high-protein food that provides a strong sense of satiety and can alleviate fatigue. Some fitness enthusiasts favored a combination of protein powder, chicken breast, and vegetable salad.
Seeing Jiang Feng actually grilling chicken breast, they were naturally overjoyed.
It was as if the barbecue had been tailor-made for them!
"Boss, give us fifty skewers of chicken breast, thirty of beef, thirty of beef with pineapple, thirty of lamb, and ten of grilled leeks. To go," one of them said.
"Alright, you’ll have to wait a bit, probably about twenty minutes," Jiang Feng replied.
"Okay, we’ll come back for it later."
They paid and left immediately. After all, Tiger’s Gate was a prominent group in the fitness industry. Being seen eating barbecue could easily provoke unnecessary debate.
Hu Minghui was still puzzled. Could eating this barbecue really boost one’s spirits?
Anyway, let’s eat first and see, they thought.
"They actually have grilled chicken breast today! I wonder how it tastes?"
"I heard his stall often introduces new dishes. There’s a lot of variety, and they’re all exceptionally delicious, which is why everyone loves it."
"This is a really pleasant surprise."
"We’ll eat it in the conference room later."
The sturdy, muscular men left, and not long after, two dance instructors with excellent figures came over.
"Executive Chef Jiang, we’d like two skewers of grilled chicken wings and two skewers of lamb," they said.
They didn’t order much and waited by the side after placing their order.
"Alright, you’ll have to wait a bit, about twenty minutes," Jiang Feng replied.
"Okay."
The two waited, constantly trying to convince each other.
"I’ve gained a pound recently. I was planning to lose weight."
"Me too, but this barbecue stand is just too delicious."
"I agree, it’s really tasty."
"We’ll just eat a little less each day."
The two whispered among themselves, occasionally glancing at Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng remained calm, though he would observe the queue of customers during lulls in his grilling.
One order after another was completed.
Soon, a new batch of skewers was placed on the grill.
Hao Fei was busy skewering ingredients in the back. Jiang Feng had given him the standards, and Hao Fei was now able to cut the beef accordingly. He had learned this skill as well.
Hao Fei studied under Jiang Feng every day. Although the taste of what he grilled still couldn’t match Jiang Feng’s, it was a huge improvement over his previous culinary skills. Such advancement couldn’t be achieved even with a barbecue training course that cost 6,000.
Jiang Feng took out two chicken wings and placed them on the grill. These wings had been soaked in cold water to remove any gamey smell, scored on the surface to increase contact area, and marinated with seasonings. They were already deeply flavorful.
As one side sizzled and oozed fat, Jiang Feng flipped them. Chicken wings took a while to cook. Even though they looked done on both sides, Jiang Feng continued to brush them with sauce and flip them regularly. He was very experienced.
Honey-glazed grilled chicken wings were all about being fresh, tender, and juicy, with a crispy exterior and a tender interior. The word "tender" was the very essence of perfectly grilled chicken wings.
Jiang Feng used high-temperature charcoal. The intense heat roasted the chicken wings thoroughly, making the meat inside incredibly soft and tender.
Once done, Jiang Feng handed the two skewers of chicken wings to the dance instructors.
They stood by the side, eating as they waited. They gently blew on the wings to cool them down before taking a bite of the warm chicken.
The wings were already deeply flavored. Their skin was coated in sauce, carrying a hint of sweetness. When they tore off a piece, the meat came away easily—smooth, tender, and steaming hot. The meat itself was also flavorful. Having been scored and marinated, the sauce had seeped deep inside, ensuring the chicken was not only tender but also retained a spicy kick.
The chicken wings were predominantly spicy. The slight sweetness on the skin added a distinct contrast to the spiciness.
When Jiang Feng grilled the chicken wings, he didn’t add or brush on any oil. However, they still tasted as if they were suffused with a rich, oily aroma.
The two women carefully ate the chicken wings, savoring every morsel. These wings were incredibly delicious!
With ordinarily undercooked chicken wings, many people would lose their appetite after one bite of the meat near the bone. That was because chicken wings are tricky to cook; the inside cooks slowly, truly testing a chef’s skill. But the grilled chicken wings made by Jiang Feng were cooked through perfectly.
The two young women picked the bones clean, thoroughly enjoying every bite.
Their gazes towards Jiang Feng held a newfound admiration and fondness. He truly lives up to the title of Executive Chef! His cooking is amazing. If only he were my boyfriend...
Then, Jiang Feng handed them the lamb skewers they had ordered. After receiving them, the two finished their food contentedly and left.
Having such a stall downstairs significantly boosted the happiness of those living and working nearby.
After a while, the people from the gym returned to pick up their barbecue order, and Jiang Feng packed it for them.
This counted as a big order.
In the last few days, Jiang Feng hadn’t paid much attention to his tasks, as they were easily completed every day. Most of his time was spent serving customers.
Today’s task reward: [Grilled Eggplant Recipe]
Jiang Feng obtained another new recipe.
He wanted to try it out on the spot but was too busy.
The method for grilled eggplant was quite unique. It didn’t require skewers; the whole eggplant was simply placed on the grill rack. It was grilled on all sides, then slit open down the middle and spread flat to be brushed with various sauces. Eggplant prepared this way was fragrant and tender—truly exceptional.
I’ll make it tomorrow, Jiang Feng thought. It’ll be perfect as a new dish for the day.
「Bucks Gym, conference room.」
A group of muscular men finished their day’s workout routine; the rest of their time was for rest and recovery. They were at the gym almost every day. Some started their training as early as six in the morning. If they trained sufficiently during the day, they rested in the evening. If daytime commitments interfered, they might add an extra session at night.
Fitness was polarizing. Those addicted felt increasingly hooked the more they trained, while for others, it was: "Working out? That would be the death of me!"
The barbecue was laid out in front of everyone. They rarely drank beer, preferring to eat the grilled food on its own.
Hu Minghui first took a skewer of grilled chicken breast. His diet had been miserable lately. Every day, he would blend various healthy ingredients in specific proportions to create a mushy paste, which he then drank. Now, holding a skewer of barbecue, his sense of taste seemed to instantly return.
The chicken breast was marinated, grilled, then sprinkled with cumin, chili powder, and chopped green onions. Its main appeal was pure deliciousness.
Hu Minghui took a bite, and a wave of satisfaction washed over him.
The explosive flavor, the crispy texture! This grilled delicacy was far superior to any boiled chicken breast.
"Wow," Hu Minghui exclaimed after finishing a skewer, his face a mask of astonishment. "This is incredible!"
He felt his body loosen up, a sense of ease spreading through him. A long-lost feeling of exhilaration swept through him. This kind of satisfaction was different from the invigorating exhaustion after a workout; it was a deep, internal refreshment. Warmth spread from his hungry stomach throughout his body, as if his very being was being comforted.
Since I finally have a chance for a good meal, I shouldn’t just stick to chicken breast. Time for a change of pace, he thought, reaching for a skewer of beef.
The beef pieces were large and tender. They were satisfyingly chewy yet not tough, yielding easily to a bite. Crispy on the outside, bursting with juice on the inside—it was an absolutely exhilarating experience.
"This barbecue is really something else."
"How can it be grilled to taste so good!" Hu Minghui marveled.
"See? I told you it was satisfying!" one of the others chimed in. "After eating it yesterday, we were full of energy for today’s workout."
"That felt amazing."
"It was like we got a buff."
Hu Minghui finally understood why everyone was so enthusiastic. After just a few bites, he already felt a sense of well-being. He couldn’t imagine how incredible it would feel to eat his fill.
Previously, they would usually eat chicken breast and vegetable salad here, or drink those blended nutritional pastes. Now, with delicious barbecue instead, everyone ate with immense satisfaction. There was no guilt; instead, their appetite transformed into energy, fueling them with even more drive.
"It’s so good! After my competition, I’m definitely going to eat this several more times," Hu Minghui said as he ate.
"After your competition, you’ll have to see where the owner sets up his stall," Lin Hu remarked.
"He might not be here anymore."
Then, Lin Hu added, "Enjoy it today, but no more tomorrow. Eating this once can be beneficial, but too much is definitely not good for the body. Whatever the case, moderation is key."
Hu Minghui nodded. "Don’t worry, I can hold back. Once my competition is over, I’ll find this stall owner again. This guy’s skills are the real deal. No matter where he is, I have to find him and have another great meal."
