Briar, seeing Raine’s reactions, smiled satisfactorily and nodded at her. "That’s good!" she said before starting to walk away without saying a single word.

Raine looked at Briar, who was leaving and showed an indignant expression. She didn’t want to accept such defeat, but she knew pretty well that there was no way to turn the tables, especially when her opponent was Briar.

However, watching her leaving, a sinister smile appeared on her face as she thought to herself, ’Hehe, Logan, you thought you married an angel but you simply got a devil tied by your side! I really look forward to seeing her sucking your blood dry and crushing your bones until there is nothing left!’ hatred flickering in her eyes.

Raine watched that back with so much hate, but then suddenly froze when Briar turned around without warning, catching her off guard.

’What does she want again?’ Raine shuddered at the thought of Briar coming for another round.

However, Briar simply smiled at her before waving her hand towards her, which made Raine dumbfounded for a moment before she felt slightly dizzy and a throb in her temples.

When the pain finally vanished, she looked towards the door and found Briar gone.

’What did she talk about earlier again? Why can’t I seem to remember?’

Raine was puzzled at the thought of not recalling the conversation she just had with Briar.

And that unsettling feeling followed her all the way to her room, where she got locked up.

Meanwhile, Briar smiled slyly inwardly, thinking about what she did before she left. Although she trusted Raine that she wouldn’t expose her, she didn’t trust Logan and the doctors who were dealing with Raine.

If Logan had more people who had Wellington’s abilities to hypnotize people to spill their secrets, then wouldn’t her secrets be spilt? How would she be able to whitewash herself?

Although it was a pity that Raine wouldn’t remember the good deeds she committed in her life and how Raine lost to her. Briar felt that it was better than giving Logan a reason to deal with her after everything that she had done so that she could be with him.

No man loved being calculated, and with how Logan perceives Selena, he would surely bury her alive if he knew what she did.

So, she decided to remain the pure and innocent young wife and second mother she had always been.

As for the other things, leave them up to fate.

When she got outside, she found Logan waiting for her and the couple hooked arms and slowly made their way to the parking lot.

"How was it? Did you get your closure?" he asked softly, his tone not hurried.

Briar looked at Logan with pursed lips and nodded. "You can see it like that. She is a pitiful person!" she said, thinking about how unfortunate Raine was meeting with someone like her.

Logan, who didn’t know what Briar and Raine chatted during their meeting, felt a pang in his heart, thinking to himself how soft-hearted Briar was. Even after what Raine did to her, she was feeling pity for the other.

He might as well not talk about Raine right now, lest Briar intercede on her behalf. There was no way he was going to forgive Raine for what she did. So, he might as well change the topic and talk about other things.

"That’s good then. Now, what do you feel like eating?"

Briar smiled amusedly as she listened to how fast he was at changing the topic. She didn’t try to bring up the topic either, but answered softly to his question, "I want to have pizza. Can we eat that?" acting a bit coy.

Logan looked at his young wife and upon seeing the sparkle in her eyes, he unconsciously acquiesced and Briar beamed even more at getting what she wanted.

Who said a spiritualist didn’t like eating nice food?

With his agreement, the two continued to talk about food and other related topics.

They got into the car, and it started driving away.

"Have I told you today that I love you, Logan?" from nowhere, Briar said, looking at Logan with a smile. Her eyes shone bright, the love in her eyes visible for him to see.

Logan turned his head briefly to look at Briar, who had confessed her love, just like she always does every single day, and smiled at her, doting in his eyes, and shook his head. "Nope, you didn’t!" his tone was very playful.

Briar grinned at him and said playfully, "Then now you know!"

Logan’s eyes squinted when he heard that and responded while looking back to the road, "And I love you as well, Briar. I will always do!" his tone was full of endless promises which Briar believed he would keep.

Unlike other men who couldn’t control their lower bodies, Logan, when he had someone, was faithful. Another reason why she fell for him in the first love.

"Let’s hold the wedding! I want to wear that gown and let the whole world see that I am yours and you are mine. Things haven’t been great for us in the past few months, but I do believe that they will get better. It’s a new year, and in 2081, all I want is to create happy memories. And let’s do that by getting the wedding we failed to have because of the unexpected!" Briar’s voice sounded in the car, very soft but filled with determination.

Logan, who had been scared to bring up the matter of the wedding ever since Briar woke up, was startled by that honestly. However, as he digested what Briar was suggesting, he found himself smiling from ear to ear.

He couldn’t help but look at her, and their gazes locked. The two of them grinned and cheekbones lifted high in mutual happiness.

"You are really serious?" his eyes sparkled, maintaining eye contact as he asked.

"Um, I am!" she said in agreement, her chest sticking out in pride.

Logan, seeing that prideful smile on her face, couldn’t help but smile big and wide, thinking to himself how fate really knows how to trick people.

Who would have expected or even thought that the bride he picked on a whim for convenience reasons? An unlikely bride who wasn’t expected even by his children or family would make him putty like that?

If anyone had told him that things would turn into this today, he would have blacklisted that person without care, but here they were.

However, looking at her, who was looking at him with eyes that oozed with love and only filled with him, Logan was grateful for this fate.

Although the road wasn’t that smooth and filled with stumbling blocks and many others, he loved where it was going.

The road might not be smooth in the present or the future, but just like how they managed to maneuver through in the past months, Logan was confident that he would be able to do even better.

Whatever problems come in the future; he wouldn’t let her be hurt like she had been hurt in the past.

That was the vow he silently made as he looked away to concentrate on the road.

Briar smiled lovingly, sensing his emotions, and felt her eyes stinging.

Some words didn’t have to be said. Actions were better, of course, and she preferred actions. So, she was grateful that he didn’t say anything.

She just hoped that in the future, they would live smoothly, without too many obstacles coming their way.

Nonetheless, whatever comes her way, she will fight and continue defending what she loves the most.

’The future is pretty long and I look forward to spending it with you! Thank you for loving me, for giving me a chance, and for fulfilling my dreams. My love might be dark, but I swear as long as you are by my side, I shall bring no harm to you! It might have started on the wrong foot, but let it end on a good note. I look forward to the future of us. Whatever shall come, may it pass peacefully. To us!’ she swore solemnly inwardly as she looked at him again.

She reached her right hand towards Logan and the man, without looking at her, grabbed her hand and the two held hands; one small and one big. A loving contrast.

With their hands clasped together, the two briefly looked at each other before looking away, smiles blossoming on their faces as they looked forward to their promising future.
