Chapter 209: Chapter 209: SHE WAS PREGNANT!

Crash.

Bang.

"How ..... how could this ..." Madam Meyer’s voice trembled, as she tried to say something and yet the words continued to fail her the more, she wanted to speak.

It still felt surreal. Just like a dream, it didn’t feel real at all.

How was it possible?

Looking at the green light on the theatre door, and then at her son who was going crazy, veins popping out while pacing up and down, she was at a loss for words.

She regretted it. Why did she take Briar today, of all days?

If she hadn’t taken the other out and perhaps let the shop come to them, perhaps Briar wouldn’t be fighting for her life in the theatre right now. Perhaps her grandchild, whom they didn’t even know existed, would have survived.

The more she thought about it, the more guilty she felt. Recalling how happy Briar was when she talked about the topic of children and how they picked the names with Logan. And now thinking about how that dream had been completely shattered, her eyes reddened, suffocation drowning her.

Looking at her son, Madam Meyer didn’t know what to think or say anymore. For now, she just prayed that Briar would come out of that theatre alive.

And that wait lasted several hours. The detective who came to the scene even appeared and brought disturbing news.

Raine refused to cooperate and confess. She wanted to see Logan and since she had the right to do something like that, the authorities couldn’t do anything. But only hoped for Logan to help that way, Raine would be put to justice as soon as possible.

However, Logan refuses to go anywhere before he sees Briar. Fortunately, Briar was finally wheeled out of the theatre and as soon last they saw her, they all looked nervously at the doctor who was operating on Briar. A familiar person, a friend of Briar to be exact, Bertha. What a coincidence.

Paaa.

However, the answers that they expected didn’t come first as the slap sounded in the corridor, startling everyone.

Madam Meyer covered her mouth, stifling her cry upon seeing her son being slapped that hard. She could see the fingers on his cheek and it shocked her so much.

She had never hit her children ever and yet someone else hit her son and in public.

She looked at Bertha, who looked furious that her eyes were literally blazing red and upon seeing that fury, Madam Meyer withheld any grievances she had.

She could tell that Bertha was angry on behalf of Briar. As her friend, she had the right to feel that way, although she just didn’t get why she had to slap her son in public.

Madam Meyer looked at her son but simply saw him lowering his head without getting angry.

Shortly after that, Bertha exploded and started scolding Logan without any care in the world.

"Logan, Briar was five weeks pregnant! She was carrying your child and yet now she is unconscious. I don’t even know when she would fucking wake up. And for what?

What have you done for her as the husband? Do you just want to receive her love and yet continue to see her suffer every single time? If only you had dealt with that lunatic and sent her off to her home country or something, then this wouldn’t have happened.

Do you know how happy Briar was when she talked about how you said you wanted to have a child with her? Don’t you know how much she loves children?

Ha, if this love is a sin and a crime, then I hope that you can fucking set her free! Because of your indecisiveness and mercy, Raine destroyed the life of that young twenty-five-year-old girl who loved you so much.

She can’t get pregnant anymore! Do you know how much my heart ached when I removed her womb? Do you know what that means for a woman?

I sincerely hope that after this ....." Bertha closed her eyes, huffing and puffing, steam coming out of her ears recalling how bloody and lifeless Briar was.

Even when she attempted that silly suicide attempt. It wasn’t as serious as this. If she was a bit too late, she might have lost Briar forever.

She couldn’t blame Briar no matter how badly she wanted to strangle that naughty girl. When they came out with the plan, it didn’t mention something that scary. It seemed that Briar kept a lot from them. This anger could only be vented to the person who was causing Briar to do so much self-harm like that.

So, she vented it out. Thankfully, Logan didn’t put on airs. He lowered his head and listened. After doing so, Bertha took a deep breath and looked at the man, who seemed to be repenting and coldly said, "She will be put into the ICU for now. We will continue to monitor her, but from what I have seen, she might fall into a comma. She was severely hurt. We can only leave it to the deities for now."

No matter what, she was going to drive this family crazy until Briar woke up.

After dropping such a bomb, she left bristly, in a hurry to check on Briar and see how her vitals were going.

Madam Meyer and Logan, who were left behind, were full of sorrow. Madam Meyer hugged her son, whom she knew was grieving right now.

He wasn’t one to talk much when grieving and in pain. He might look cold and as if he didn’t care, but he had a soft heart and was easily bruised.

Mother and son hugged each other, and Madam Meyer felt her heart ache as she felt the tears of her son dripping on her clothes.

She patted his back in comfort without saying a word, but inwardly she was relieved.

At least she came out of that theatre alive. As for how the future goes, it shall go well. Briar was a blessed child and there was no way that her son was going to lose another wife.

She wouldn’t allow it.
