Meanwhile, at Mammy Adonai’s house, after everyone had left, Briar found herself soaking in a familiar tub. This time, bathing using different kinds of medicine.

Mammy Adonai was sitting just across from her, her expression a bit grave.

Briar looked at her and suddenly smiled, her smile not reaching the eyes and said, "Mammy, must you really worry over this matter?"

Mammy Adonai looked at Briar, who seemed to be so lax despite knowing what was at stake and furrowed her brows. "Child, you know that it’s dangerous right?" she asked, her question full of mystery but a mystery that Briar could understand at one go.

Briar’s eyes flashed coldly as she lifted her hand from the water and responded, "Mammy, we have always known since I was thirteen that it would never be the same again. If it was possible to save all this, do you think that I would want to do it?"

Mammy Adonai shook her head helplessly as a trace of loss flashed across her eyes.

"Fate is indeed .... Child, you will have to suffer for a while."

Briar smiled wryly, as determination flickered in her eyes and responded, "Aren’t you there, Mammy? You will still come in the end to save me. Isn’t that what you promised me?" her tone very coy, making the old lady give Briar a side eye roll.

Briar burst into a hearty chuckle upon seeing Mammy Adonai’s reaction.

"Don’t worry, I never do anything that harms me. I will be fine. We all will be fine." Briar said determinately as she looked at Mammy Adonai.

The old lady sighed as she rose to her feet.

"That better be the case!"

"It will be!"

With the two bantering, the bathe came to an end. And after so many days, Briar finally wore something that wasn’t pure cloth.

That night, she slept in a normal room, and on a normal bed. She had a beautiful sleep. It was wondrous.

The next day, Briar rose early and helped Mammy Adonai with some chores and one of those was dying some of the beef that was left for her.

They couldn’t eat two cows in one go. Mammy Adonai set some beef aside for her to bring back to the city. However, bringing fresh beef wouldn’t do, so they decided to smoke it that way it could be brought back without issues.

After leaving the beef in the smoking oven, Briar followed Mammy Adonai to the treatment room, where they both chanted and praised their ancestors before setting a large calabash with water in between them.

Briar peeped into the calabash and her brows furrowed as a murderous glint flashed across her eyes.

"Damn, that b**** never let go!" she cussed with gritted teeth, her eyes blazing red as she saw a familiar person through the medium, which was the calabash.

Mammy Adonai was calmer than Briar, but the iciness in her eyes was enough to speak volumes.

"Child, what do you want to do with her?" Mammy Adonai asked as she raised her head to look at Briar.

Briar smiled coldly as she looked at the woman whom she knew had spilt what shouldn’t be spilt already and gave an answer which made Mammy Adonai nodded her head with satisfaction.

"It shall be done, my child!" Mammy Adonai said excitedly, filled with anticipation of the drama, which was about to ensue.

Briar was also looking forward to it.

Stardale City

"We are here, Logan!" Raine’s voice sounded in his ears and Logan raised his head to look at the woman he dearly wished to deal with at the moment, but couldn’t since he still had this issue to deal with first.

"Um!" he grunted a response as he looked away, to the side, checking where they were.

Raine puffed up her cheeks. Something that someone her age wasn’t supposed to do but, in that moment, she found herself doing it consciously.

The car came to a halt, and both Logan and Raine alighted from the car.

They were here to meet with Moses, who had set up the meeting place to be at a park. Very open and in a place where nobody could play games with anybody.

He was quite cautious, and Logan applauded the man for that. But didn’t he know that if he wanted to do something, regardless of place, he could still achieve it?

When the two were out of the car, Raine, being too excited at the thought of bringing Briar down, began to talk excitedly as they both made way to the park which was across from where the car parked.

"Logan, I know that you might still be doubting me, but after meeting this guy, you will see my concerns. Although he is a bit of a gambler and a user, his words are all trustworthy!"

Logan just wanted to push the annoying woman into the incoming traffic and be done with her, but he was a lawful person and wouldn’t do anything rash that would put his family at risk.

He didn’t respond to her, but merely ignored her as they both crossed the road.

Raine didn’t mind or care that she was being ignored. Once Logan meets Moses, then all problems will be solved. So why be furious just because of being ignored a bit?

Instead of focusing on Logan, she decided to find her lucky goose and see where he was at. The sooner they met, the sooner she would have Logan’s complete trust. Wasn’t she clever?

"Let me call him and ask where he _" However, before she could finish her words, a sudden chaos in the park cut her midway.

"What’s going on?" Logan asked curiously as he looked at the group of people in the park running in circles, screaming.

He couldn’t see clearly what was truly happening, but whatever it was, it didn’t seem to be good.

"OMG! Someone is stripping in public!"

"Damn! Is that person crazy?"

The people who were much closer to the chaos started yelling and, in the process, revealed what was happening.

Raine’s brows rose in shock when she heard that.

There were still people in this world who stripped naked in public? Weren’t they afraid of being arrested for public indecency?
