Chapter 178: Chapter 178: SPIRITUALIST CEREMONY PREPARATIONS 2
After the meal, Briar was brought to this hut with white sheets used as wallpaper. In the middle of the hut, there was a large tub with greenish water which, at a glance, she could tell, had several herbs in it.
Briar removed all of her clothes and didn’t seem shy about being stared at by three people.
Briar removed all the jewelry from her body; earrings, waist beads and the anklet she loved the most. She put them on top of the clothes she had just removed.
Once she was done with that, she firmly walked towards the tub, naked, like the day she was brought into the world.
Briar looked at the water in the tub with anticipation in her eyes. This was her way to freedom and everlasting peace.
Instead of relying on other people, as long as she held the powers of the spiritualist, she had nothing to fear. Whichever enemy would come for her, she would deal with them before they even raised their heads.
Of course, she didn’t bother to think that her thoughts didn’t align exactly with what the ancestors wanted from her. But since they made a deal, they could only swallow their grievances and accept whatever she chooses.
For the ritual bathing and cleansing, she was to soak in the tub for two hours, which would be the longest time she had ever soaked herself in any kind of water. But since it was a necessary requirement, she had to go through it.
So, in the next two hours, Briar found herself being scrubbed by those two girls while Mammy Adonai chanted an unfamiliar hymn, with the candles burning brightly in the hut and a flavorful incense hovering all over her face.
It was quite dramatic, but she kind of understood what was happening. The more the ceremony continued, the lighter she felt.
It was as if she was going through a detoxification process and it was miraculous.
After two hours, Briar left the tub and was wrapped in a white cloth. She didn’t get the water wiped off her body.
Walking on barefoot, she was taken out of that hut and taken to another hut where she would be having her isolation and seclusion in for the days to come.
Inside that hut, Briar nearly ran away upon seeing a reed mat which was supposedly her bed for the nights to come. There were red, white and black fabrics, which she learnt were her covers. She would be using those as well.
There wasn’t much in the room to be honest and it bothered her a lot, but what could she do?
She could only learn earnestly and pray that days move faster this time.

The next day, everyone in the village knew that the siblings had returned and Briar especially was staying at Mammy Adonai where she was preparing for the spiritualist ceremony. Her brother, Benjamin, was there to accompany her though he would be staying at home.
"I never thought that one day she would still become a spiritualist."
"It’s good that she became one. Now we don’t have to fear our children being picked and forced to become ones!"
"That’s true, but does that mean that she would be living here again?"
"I doubt so. Who said that spiritualist must live in their place of origin?"
"You have a point there."
"I just fear for that couple. If they knew that the daughter, they didn’t like was becoming a spiritualist. Will they sleep at night?"
"Haha, they deserve to have insomnia. Those people."
"When I think of her past, alas, it’s truly pitiful."
"Thankfully, she grew up well."
The villagers were busy entertaining themselves with gossip as they recalled the past of Briar and how hard it was for her to be where she was right now.
"Since she is preparing to become one, does that mean that we will be having a feast?" suddenly another woman asked, her eyes bright like a bulb.
Upon hearing that, everyone became interested as they recalled this particular tradition. To welcome the new spiritualist, during her graduation ceremony, a feast would be hosted.
A fat cow would be slaughtered and every single part of the cow would be eaten, except for the excrement. The animal hide would be treated and given to the spiritualist to be used.
The family of the spiritualist incurred the costs of the feast, though the villagers had to contribute some gifts on that day.
Thinking about feasting, and recalling how Briar was rich. They usually saw how she brought gifts for Mammy Adonai. Anyone who could do so was rich and loaded. After seeing that large vehicle, they were even more certain.
"I guess that we might need to call some relatives when the time comes!"
"Hahaha, you are truly funny!"
The villagers started to look forward to the incoming feast with open arms.
As for the person involved, she was in the hut, sitting in a lotus position with her eyes closed.
She was currently in the dreamscape being taught about dream interpretation by the several ancestors who loved her too much to leave her alone.
For once, Briar was very serious and didn’t joke around. After all, she couldn’t always rely on them. What if one day they leave her dreamscape and never return again?
Filled with a sense of responsibility and seriousness, she was in a serious mode, and studied as best as she could without any complaints.
"When we talk about dream interpretation, we mean assigning meaning to dreams that people have. It is our duty as spiritualists, who can see beyond what normal people can’t see to help those who dream with the meanings.
Their ancestors can give dreams to people and since they can’t interpret them; it becomes our duty.
Dreams come to individual in different ways. Sometimes they are meaningful and sometimes they aren’t. It’s not all dreams that require interpretation but that are determined after learning more about it.
You aren’t allowed to brush a dream casually without looking into it. That would be very disastrous."
