Chapter 158: A HARMONIOUS FAMILY

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: A HARMONIOUS FAMILY

At that moment, Briar had eaten half of her plate and was dying inward. She wanted to have some of that rice, but because there was a policy in the house of not wasting food, she could only force herself to eat.

Hearing Cade, who didn’t like eating porridge most of the time, wanting it, Briar was stunned at first, but she got her bearings back.

"Sure darling, as long as you don’t dislike what I have eaten!" Briar generously said as she looked at Cade.

The pot was now empty, so the only porridge that she could share was the one she was eating.

Cade smiled at her and said, "It’s fine. I will eat it!" his eyes shone bright at the thought of eating it.

Perhaps it was the way these three were enjoying the porridge, which made him curious and greedy for a taste.

Briar, upon hearing that, looked at Cade like he was a savior and generously pushed the bowl to him.

’How could anyone eat anyone’s leftover food?’ Eugene wondered puzzlingly, seeing what was going on at the table.

However, in the children’s eyes, their family had always had table rules and no etiquette that they always followed.

When eating, a person must eat in a way that if he or she gets full before finishing the food, another person can eat. As a result, they always eat from one side going to the other. When serving, they serve just enough to eat and if they want more, they add in the plate.

So, the porridge on Briar’s plate wasn’t all touched. She only ate one side, and the other remained intact. And that made it easy for Cade to have a bite.

With the porridge off her plate, Briar happily served some rice and soup before digging in.

Eugene and the other girls watched all that with amazement in their eyes.

Seeing the way they interacted, it was enough for the girls to accept the fact that these people were living harmoniously and that Briar might not be that bad, to be honest.

Eugene and her other friends never expected to see such a harmonious family like that. If that’s how they were all the other days, then they indeed didn’t have much to worry about.

Those who saw them wouldn’t even know that their relationship was that of a stepmother and stepchildren.

Was it because they grew up together, and that’s why they were like that? But how could they all accept the change easily like that?

They all had questions but didn’t dare ask, thus the meal went perfectly well.

After the meal, Briar smiled apologetically at the children and said, "I am sorry that I can’t accompany you. I need to take my medication and sleep early," before looking at Lyra and instructing, "Take care of your friends and make sure Tiana goes to bed in time."

Just because it was the weekend didn’t mean that Tiana, of all people, could sleep late.

Lyra acknowledged the instruction and Tiana, who was forced to sleep early, didn’t dare refute but obediently nodded her head.

After doing so, Briar bade the kids goodnight and left them.

Ding.

After seeing the elevator going upward, the friends heaved a sigh of relief before pulling Lyra to the sofa for some chat.

This time, Cade and Tiana followed and sat with the girls.

"Girl, just .... What was happening?"

"Yeah, are you always like that every single night?"

The girls were quite curious and asked a barrage of questions, full of curiosity.

Lyra and the other two smiled upon hearing that.

Tiana, who had caused problems earlier, was the first to reply, standing on her second mother’s side. "We are always like this. Big sisters, mother is a very good person!"

"Pfttt~" Lyra chuckled helplessly upon hearing that. She ruffled the little girl’s head.

Even if their second mother turned out to be bad, she was certain that Tiana wouldn’t see that. In the little girl’s eyes, their second mother was the only mother that she knew.

After all, when she was born, their mother didn’t take care of her for long before she was hospitalized. Once she was hospitalized, the only time she came out was when she was dead.

So how could Tiana, who was raised personally by their second mother, find any fault with her?

Sometimes she envied the bond between the two. Although they sometimes clash, they always make sure to be on the same page the very night. When Lyra thought about that secret, the family thought that they didn’t know her envy for the little one even increased.

If it was her, would second mother also keep such a huge secret?

She couldn’t help but ponder.

"You heard the youngest!" Lyra said after brushing aside her messy thoughts. She faced her friends and elaborated. "Because we kind of grew up together, we don’t have to be constricted. Of course, when Dad is around, that is another matter. He is kind of possessive!" Lyra couldn’t help but chuckle, recalling how childish their father could be at times.

Once they started talking, the room was filled with chatter praising Briar. The butler eavesdropping felt relief hearing that.

It was quite scary knowing that the friends were coming. As someone who watched Briar growing up, from being a teenager lacking nutrition, just being bones and skin to seeing her being a woman and now his master’s second wife and the madam of the house. He knew what kind of person she was.

There was no way a person could hide herself like that for years.

If she was pretentious and the kind of fake person other people thought she was, then perhaps so many scary secrets he didn’t even know before wouldn’t have been revealed.

When he thought about how much the young madam loved the master, the butler would never agree to someone slandering Briar.

Of course, if he were to learn that she fooled all of them, his heart would surely shatter.
