After hanging up the phone, she approached the three of them, and her tone became somewhat polite and softer, "Group Leader Fang, our Director Wang is indeed not here. However, our HR Director Ms. Yang is. Director Yang has invited Group Leader Fang to sit in her office."

Fang Yongxing immediately stood up and replied, "No trouble at all."

The receptionist led them to the innermost office, and pushed the door open.

A woman wearing reading glasses was sitting alone in the office.

This woman was Director Yang.

Director Yang looked to be about fifty, dressed in a white shirt and a blazer skirt, still attractive. She stood up to greet them as they arrived.

Gu Nuan and the others knew that this woman was giving face to Changda, not to the three of them. Perhaps after careful consideration, a company at the start of their journey like theirs really didn’t want to provoke the wrath of the Changda conglomerate. After all, they still hoped for the opportunity to collaborate in the future.

Director Yang walked over to the coffee table, bent down to prepare tea for the three of them.

Fang Yongxing said to her, "We brought our own water and have already had some, so we’re not thirsty at the moment."

Director Yang, however, seemed amused by his words, smiled and said, "Ah, that’s the trouble with overthinking. But it’s natural for Group Leader Fang to think this way after being turned away everywhere. In fact, Director Wang had just received a phone call and stepped out. What a coincidence. She left half an hour before you all arrived."

The three of them, including Gu Nuan, were certainly taken aback internally.

Such incredible timing, could it be believable?

After filling their teacups with water, Director Yang stayed silent. After all, she had said her piece, and being in HR, it was not within her power to discuss any business matters with them. It could only be said that Director Yang was afraid her employee’s negligence had caused them issues and so within her capabilities, she gave them a hint.

Seeing the situation for what it was, Fang Yongxing took his leave, standing and saying, "Please convey to Director Wang that we came to visit."

"Sure," Director Yang responded with refreshing directness.

No need for her to convey anything; it was clear they had known about the visit in advance and had deliberately left to avoid it.

Gu Nuan got up just as Fang Yongxing was already the first to dash out of the office door.

Tang Qingzhong scurried after him in a hurry.

Fang Yongxing was quick-tempered and was surely infuriated by the hint that Director Yang had let slip.

Gu Nuan watched as Director Yang seemed to see nothing and returned to her desk. After thinking for a moment, Gu Nuan picked up the document bag that Donald Duck had forgotten, slinging it over both shoulders, before leaving the office.

Exiting the other company’s building, Gu Nuan looked for Donald Duck and his companions and found them at the stairwell.
