Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Arriving at Changda (2)
Gu Nuan didn’t know if Su Yixia would faint upon hearing her say this, continuing: "If I had known earlier, I would have become a campus beauty anchor in school as well. That way, I wouldn’t even need to guess the questions, I’d directly know someone’s phone number."
Joining school organizations definitely has its benefits in terms of social connections.
Unfortunately, like Gu Nuan, Su Yixia preferred to focus solely on her studies and academics rather than engaging in social activities. Otherwise, with her natural talents, Su Yixia could easily outstrip Qin Sinan in mere seconds.
"He is—" Gu Nuan looked up and saw the man beside Su Yixia.
This man was genuinely handsome and radiant; many women in the car turned to look at him. He was likely a prominent figure at school as well. However, Gu Nuan truly had no recollection of this person.
"He’s my BF, we’ve been together since before I started university. But he got into B University, Changda sent invites to top students from their school, and he asked me if I wanted to come along," she explained.
This reminded Gu Nuan of someone from her own past, a rather unpleasant memory.
Qin Sinan seemed to recall something as well and asked, "Are you here alone? Oh, right, I remember that your boyfriend is working, isn’t he?"
"We broke up," Gu Nuan said, not wanting to revisit connections that were clearly severed.
Qin Sinan was taken aback: "You did?"
She looked just as surprised, raising her head and exchanging a look of mutual understanding with the man beside her.
Gu Nuan heard her say to the man:
"Zhilin, she and her boyfriend were reportedly in a relationship for ten years. Don’t you find it strange that they broke up?"
Xu Zhilin just shrugged, offering no comment. It seemed inappropriate to say anything in such circumstances.
Other people’s business is their business, and one’s own issues are their own. However, Gu Nuan thought that perhaps her own situation had unsettled Qin Sinan.
After all, women tend to feel insecure quite easily, perhaps due to the unreliability of many men in society.
Compared to Qin Sinan, who began to focus on why Gu Nuan broke up with her boyfriend, Xu Zhilin was more focused on potential competitors he might encounter today.
Gu Nuan knew that she posed no threat to him. Like his girlfriend, she merely came from E University. E University was an average second-tier school, while B University was one of the top-tier institutions.
Naturally, students from B University wouldn’t regard those from E University highly.
Being such a large corporation, Changda, wealthy and famous with a billionaire boss, could be considered the dream company for any college graduate.
Changda’s name was also among the Fortune 500.
And since it was a private company, it offered greater personal development opportunities and potential compared to public enterprises like banks.
In such a context, those attending the interviews were undoubtedly top students from prestigious schools.
Upon reaching the HR department of Changda, where a long line of candidates was seated on benches along the corridor waiting their turn, Su Yixia sat beside Gu Nuan, sweating nervously.
She had driven here without feeling much earlier. But upon arriving, she suddenly sensed that the atmosphere was different from anything she’d experienced before.
What was different?
After thinking it over, Su Yixia finally realized: "In the past, when we went to job fairs to submit our resumes, there were students from lower-tier schools as well. Now, it seems our school is the lowest-ranked one here."
Nowadays, with streets full of PhDs and and master’s graduates, qualifications alone don’t mean much. Recruiting firms value the prestigious background of a student’s university more.
For instance, the 211 and 985 universities, and the national top 100 are all significant credentials esteemed by companies.
Students from top universities could list these prestigious marks on their resumes. In contrast, Su Yixia just wanted to hide her resume, bearing her alma mater’s name, beneath her seat, as it was simply too embarrassing.
Across the way, it seemed some people had discerned their school’s identity, discussing it with a hint of surprise.
"Am I seeing this correctly? Are students from E University invited as well?"
