Chapter 409: Chapter 409 Call Her Aunt (9)
The atmosphere in the area was escalating sharply, with passersby feeling the tension and giving the group a wide berth. Wa’s mother had seized her son and future daughter-in-law, determined to clear things up today or be plagued by nightmares tonight.
However, both Wa Zicong and Lin Yishan were at a loss on how to explain the situation.
"Yishan, come here."
Upon hearing this voice, Wa’s mother turned around to find that it was the handsome man beside Gu Nuan who had called out. Her eyes narrowed once more. Just who was this man? How could he casually beckon her future daughter-in-law as if summoning her like a servant? Her future daughter-in-law was an actual wealthy heiress.
"Yishan, who is he?" Wa’s mother stared intently at Lin Yishan and demanded.
Clenching her teeth, Lin Yishan knew that if she ignored Xiao Yebai right now, considering the Xiao Family’s grandmother was notorious for spoiling her grandson, and she had just been reprimanded by the old lady, her image was far from good. Unless she wanted to be out of the Xiao Family.
Stepping forward, Lin Yishan muttered softly, "Little uncle."
Wa’s mother, standing beside her, heard everything clearly. She addressed him as little uncle, which could only mean this man came from wealth—a true gentleman of high status!
So, what was Gu Nuan’s relationship with this man?
All they heard next was the genuine gentleman saying, "Yishan, last time your sisters were at the Xiao’s, they already called me aunt. You’re the only one left. If you don’t call me that, don’t blame others for calling you impolite."
Lin Yishan’s face instantly turned ashen; her worst nightmare was coming true, something she utterly despised and wished she could die rather than face.
As Lin Yishan’s vicious and fierce gaze swept over Gu Nuan’s face, Wa’s mother beside her straightened up.
Wa Zicong quickly reached out to support his mother, asking, "Mom, are you okay?"
"What did they just say? Something about calling someone aunt? That title can’t just be thrown around, can it? What exactly is their relationship?" Wa’s mother probed, her gaze fixed on her son.
Wa Zicong felt like the hardest words he would ever have to speak were stuck in his throat, nearly choking him to death.
"I’m sorry—" Wa Zicong finally managed to get out just those three words.
"Sorry for what?" Wa’s mother, in disbelief, grabbed onto her son, "You tell me clearly! What’s so hard about that, are you stronger than him?!"
Wa’s mother’s last sentence came out in a roar, as loud as the roar of the mythical Hedong lion.
Perhaps she thought that by shouting this way, the nightmare she was witnessing would snap back to reality, and someone would tell her it was all just a dream.
"Auntie, are you deaf?"
Wa’s mother wheeled around abruptly to see it was that handsome man speaking again, and she glared, outraged that the man dared suggest she was deaf. If anyone was deaf, it was Gu Nuan.
"So auntie, you’re not deaf, are you?" Xiao Yebai drawled, his lips curling into what those who knew him recognized as the sinister smirk of a ’Poison Queen’ about to speak. "Auntie, this is my wife, we’re married. My apologies, but I’ve also heard that you once told my wife that if she found someone wealthier than your son, you’d be prepared to take your son and jump into a river. Well, I just happen to be wealthier than your son, having a few hundred billion more in assets isn’t a big deal for me."
Wa’s mother’s mind went blank.
Wa Zicong was too preoccupied to cater to his mother’s feelings, instead urgently trying to process the words he’d just heard: What? What had his mother said? Jump into a river?
If Gu Nuan married someone better than him, his mother would take him and jump into a river?
Lin Yishan was equally shocked and turned to look at her future mother-in-law. How could she say such a thing?
Such thoughts were meant to be kept in one’s heart, never to be spoken aloud.
As more and more onlookers stopped to watch, drawn by the theatrics unfolding before them, it became impossible not to watch.
Wa’s mother tugged at her son’s clothes and whispered, "We’ll talk when we get back."
Wa Zicong regained his senses, nodding in agreement.
Lin Yishan had been longing to flee and, standing by his side, she made to run. Suddenly, a chilling voice from behind from Xiao Yebai gripped her once again.
"Yishan, you haven’t called out aunt yet. Should I mention it to the others?"
Lin Yishan trembled uncontrollably, unable to stop shaking.
In front of them, a few individuals suddenly blocked their path.
The Wa family mother and son were surprised.
Gu Nuan, too, was seeing for the first time just how many hidden bodyguards were in her husband’s entourage.
He truly was the son of the wealthiest man. Always an extraordinary setup wherever he went.
"Yishan!" Wa’s mother suddenly called out to her future daughter-in-law.
Lin Yishan knew that with this cry, Wa’s mother both wanted and didn’t want her to say it. The problem was, at this moment, even if she didn’t want to, she had no choice. Because Xiao Yebai seemed to be getting serious.
She should’ve known better, after they finished dealing with Su Yixia, she would undoubtedly be next. She knew all too well that the blinding of Su Yixia was most likely her "little uncle’s" doing. Her father didn’t even understand Xiao Yebai’s terror as she did.
Turning around, Lin Yishan took a breath, her eyes not meeting Gu Nuan’s as she spoke in a low voice, "Aunt."
"What? I can’t hear you—wife, did you hear anything?" Xiao Yebai looked around, feigning carelessness as he spoke.
Gu Nuan suppressed a smile, "What did you say? I’m actually deaf."
Trap!
Lin Yishan’s mind thundered, clueless about how these two would torment her next.
