Chapter 384: Chapter 384: In This World, I Only Fear You (3)
When Dean Gao made that teasing remark, most of the people present again laughed privately.
After completing the inspection, Dean Gao left. The gathered crowd subsequently dispersed.
Ou Yanan followed Tang Sili back to Tang Sili’s office.
There were usually no surgeries in the afternoon, so it wasn’t very busy. Tang Sili gestured for the students to close the office door before saying, "I heard you had an incident yesterday?"
Ou Yanan knew he couldn’t hide it from his teacher and nodded, "Yes."
"Weren’t you off work? Why did you suddenly come back?" Tang Sili folded his hands over his thighs, turned his office chair to scrutinize his eyes, and narrowed them slightly.
Just as Ou Yanan was about to answer, he suddenly realized something was amiss, paused, and questioned, "Didn’t you leave first, teacher? How did you know I left the hospital?"
"I just happened to be called to the dean’s office. Didn’t you hear what was just said? The dean mentioned I might be promoted to department head," Tang Sili said slowly.
At this, Ou Yanan suddenly understood and looked at him in surprise, "You mean, teacher, you saw everything?"
Here, Tang Sili couldn’t help but scold his somewhat foolish student, "Who do you think called the security office yesterday?"
Thinking back now, the situation was chaotic then. No one dared to make a call easily. When he rushed over to save Gu Nuan, she had already been in trouble, and probably others saw it too, but, strangely, no one called the police right away.
People nowadays, to put it bluntly, all fear getting into unnecessary trouble. If ordinary people are reluctant to call the police, it’s different for hospital staff; they have the responsibility to protect the hospital and are supposed to call the police immediately, but evidently, no one did.
"If it wasn’t for my call, how long do you think you two would keep tangling with them? They had knives; one stab and who would have been in trouble first, you or her?" Tang Sili spoke with a hint of sternness, "Let’s not talk about you getting into trouble, whether it was you or her, you need to think about the consequences before acting. In the future, shouldn’t you have a strategy in place instead of just using your bare hands? Do you think you’re a boxing champion?"
In his mind, Ou Yanan was still unable to fully digest all the information and felt that there was more to what Tang Sili was saying.
"Teacher—" he lowered his voice, "I know I didn’t think it through; I should have called the police right away—"
"Do you think your call would be useful? If you don’t reveal your identity as a young master of the Ou family and just a resident physician, do you think it would work?" Tang Sili pointed to his wristwatch, "From calling to police arriving, it takes three minutes if it’s fast and five or six minutes if it’s slow. In those extra three minutes, as a doctor, you know best, a life could have been lost by then."
"Do you mean I was completely wrong, teacher?" Ou Yanan asked quietly.
Seeing his sudden humility, Tang Sili couldn’t help but chuckle, "So you know you were wrong?"
"I admit I fell for her trap."
Hearing this, Tang Sili couldn’t help but think that his student was actually not stupid at all; however, the fact that he was easily tricked despite that made the problem all the more evident.
Seeing Tang Sili not speaking, Ou Yanan sighed to himself: he had realized later on his way back that he had indeed made a mistake.
"Doctor Ou, she is a married woman, and her husband is my boss."
"Teacher, I—"
"What, were you so easily beguiled by her charms? You believed everything she said, didn’t you? Tell me, isn’t that simply being bewitched by her?"
