Chapter 329: Chapter 329: The Appearance of the Arch-Enemy (6)
No matter how you looked at it, this was surely the room of the true master of the house.
Yebai said, "After my dad and mom got married, their wedding room wasn’t even here."
With that said, after his wife passed away, Xiao Jianming wouldn’t stay in this room anymore.
The moment he gently pushed open the two doors, the sunshine that greeted him was like something out of a fairyland, tinged with strands of dreamy light.
The window sill, facing south and catching the light, was partly obscured by hazy curtains gently fluttering in the wind. The bay window was filled with bunches of beautiful white lilies. The crystal-clear water droplets rolling on the petals of each lily, plump and glistening, indicated someone had just tenderly cared for them.
It was clear that every moment the master was away, someone was specially maintaining this place.
There was a somewhat empty space in the center of the room; Gu Nuan thought of the large bed that he had moved to their small apartment and was once again speechless.
This room, being the finest one, had lights, furniture, even the flooring and the things laid upon it—all of the highest grandeur, showing off the power and prestige of the mansion’s owner.
He led her over to sit on the sofa in front of the European-style fireplace. The classically designed fireplace now had modern technology installed within—electric heaters for winter and air conditioning for summer.
Wisps of cold air emanated from it, dispelling the heat.
Gu Nuan felt that this entire room, even without air conditioning or heating, would likely be warm in winter and cool in summer, almost like it was always spring.
"Do you like it?" Watching as she looked around with undiverted attention, Yebai reached out and gently brushed her forehead with his finger, thinking how rare it was for something here to catch her fancy.
Heaven knows how difficult it was for him to find something to please her, like the ostentatious bag he prepared last time, which she treated as trash when she returned.
All of a sudden, Gu Nuan felt like this kid was still just a kid.
What could possibly please her?
She observed this place keenly, merely wanting to learn more about his family, including his deceased mother.
"It’s quite nice," Gu Nuan pondered for a moment, not wanting to crush the kid’s confidence too much.
He still caught on right away and pouted, nestling into her neck, "What do you actually want?"
Was this man silly?
What did she need things for?
Objects couldn’t be taken into the coffin.
Clearing her throat and seizing the moment when they were alone, Gu Nuan took the opportunity to lecture the kid who had appeared too ready to throw money around in front of Mrs. Gu: "In the future, you shouldn’t just demolish someone’s house to rebuild it. My mom’s heart isn’t very strong. My dad has high blood pressure."
Yebai pouted: Then how should he please his mother-in-law? His greatest strength was having too much money to spend!
This kid was naturally predisposed to irritate the idealists.
"If you want to please my mom, it’s actually quite simple," she said.
"How?"
"Just call her ’mom’ a few more times, that’s enough," Gu Nuan’s voice dropped slightly.
Having lost her son, Mrs. Gu could only take her son-in-law as a consolation.
Her answer undoubtedly surprised him.
Feeling her mood dip, her brows slightly furrowed, and seemingly hiding a trace of sorrow and melancholy, he felt a pang in his heart. Wrapping his arms around her, he whispered in her ear in a voice so soft, he wasn’t sure she could even hear, "Alright, for now, I won’t be jealous of his spirit."
Gu Nuan’s heart skipped a beat.
His hand slid slowly over her face, lifting her chin, and with it, he gently pressed a kiss onto her reddening lips, filled with tender affection.
