Chapter 243: Chapter 243: The Arrival of Da Bai (2)
Tang Sili asked the nurse who was changing her clothes, "How is it?"
The nurse stepped aside and said, "She has a wound on her hand. It seems quite deep from what I saw."
Thereupon, Tang Sili took a seat in the doctor’s swivel chair beside his own office desk and asked the nurse to turn on an auxiliary lamp that helped examine wounds. He leaned forward slightly and examined Gu Nuan’s left hand with a professional gaze.
In fact, Gu Nuan did not even remember where she had gotten the injury. By the time she noticed it, there was a large crack running through the palm of her hand, and the flesh inside seemed to have been turned inside out.
Tang Sili looked up as if scanning her face, then turned to Ou Yanan, who was following him, and said, "Please take care of Miss Gu’s wound. It’s not very serious. Disinfect it, and then we’ll see."
Gu Nuan had not expected him to suddenly say this. No, she should have expected it. Under these circumstances, he would not have let the nurse treat her wound, and if he really wanted a nurse to do it, he would not have instructed the nurse before entering the operating room that he would come back to check personally.
As long as she considered her influential role as his boss’s wife, Tang Sili had no reason to have someone else treat her wound on his behalf. Yet, Tang Sili suddenly asked the young doctor behind him to help treat her wound.
Was it because this terrifying surgeon had noticed something?
Gu Nuan was unsure.
Ou Yanan accepted Tang Sili’s instructions, of course, would not refuse, and with the nurse’s help, opened a surgical wound disinfection kit. After donning gloves, Ou Yanan prepared to check Gu Nuan’s wound.
The face that closely resembled Gu Sheng’s suddenly got very close to her own—so close that Gu Nuan could smell the scent on Yanan. Initially, she thought it would be the cold, sterile smell of disinfectant like Tang Sili’s, but surprisingly, it was not entirely that. There was a hint of a fresh, warm scent, much like lemons.
This scent was somewhat like her own and identical to that of the boy, her younger brother Gu Sheng, considering their sibling relationship.
Gu Nuan’s heartbeat involuntarily quickened.
Therefore, when the young man in front of her raised his head with disinfection tweezers ready to inspect her wound, he was startled to see her pallor and asked, "Miss Gu, would you like to lie down on the bed for a while?"
Gu Nuan shook her head. The only thing she wanted to do right then was to look away from that face, knowing all too well that his worried frown and suspicious gaze were identical to Gu Sheng’s—cast from the same mold, giving her no chinks to detect.
If there really were two almost identical people in the world, Gu Nuan did not know what else to say.
"I need to go to the bathroom," Gu Nuan abruptly turned her face away.
"Huh?" Clearly, Yanan was taken aback by her again.
She abruptly rose from her seat and rushed straight to the private bathroom in Tang Sili’s office.
The nurse was equally startled by Gu Nuan’s sudden dash, wondering to herself.
After all, if Gu Nuan was afraid of pain, Ou Yanan had not yet started any treatment, so what was the matter with this woman?
Tang Sili turned his office chair leisurely, as though he had just realized what had happened, and after scanning the closed bathroom door, he said to the nurse, "You can leave for now. Dr. Ou and I can handle things here."
Compelled by Tang Sili’s authority, the nurse nodded and left. As she walked out, her reluctant gaze lingered on Yanan.
Ou Yanan stood there, stunned, trying to figure out what he had done wrong.
