Qiu Wenduo left.
Tang Qingzhong looked down at the coffee in his hand, not that he didn’t want to drink it, but because just moments ago, the entire Investment Department watched him converse with Qiu Wenduo.
If he really got angry with Qiu Wenduo at this moment, he feared some around here might seize the opportunity to challenge him, accusing him of not fostering unity. Then, the previous conflicts would ignite at once.
Fang Yongxing was still in the hospital; he couldn’t let him worry about the company.
Tang Qingzhong raised his coffee and took a sip, and the unexpectedly bitter liquid made him furrow his brows in an instant.
My God, did they forget to put sugar in this coffee?
He had known all along that this person did not bear good intentions by sending him this so-called friendly coffee.
Setting the coffee cup aside, Tang Qingzhong sat down and started to work.
Gu Nuan had been watching him from the corner of her eye, her gaze then swept over the coffee cup Qiu Wenduo had brought.
Time trickled by, second by second.
The office area was busy yet had an undertone of quietness. Everyone was engrossed in their own tasks; the work volume distributed each day by the large company varied for each employee, depending on one’s effort level. The busier and more committed you were, the more money you made, which was indisputable.
Almost no one noticed that Tang Qingzhong’s complexion was gradually changing as time passed.
After finishing a phase of her work, Gu Nuan, holding a document in her hand, approached Tang Qingzhong to ask him something, and discovered that his complexion was off.
"Commissioner?"
"I need to go to the restroom. If you need anything, find me later." After saying this, Tang Qingzhong, like a rocket, suddenly left his seat and rushed outside.
The company’s restrooms were located at the end of the hallway outside the office area.
Gu Nuan seemed stunned for a moment, then noticed that no one else in the vicinity, including Qiu Wenduo who had brought the coffee, seemed to notice anything unusual; all were busy with their tasks.
Without hesitation, she opened her drawer, took something and slipped it into her pocket, then quickly left the office area.
At the men’s restroom, Gu Nuan peeked inside and, finding no one else present except for Tang Qingzhong in one of the stalls, gathered her courage and walked in, asking, "Commissioner, are you alright?"
"Ouch." It was clear that Tang Qingzhong was in severe stomach pain.
"Is it really bad?" Gu Nuan asked.
"Yes," Tang Qingzhong replied, now beyond caring whether she could hear him or not, feeling like he was about to die from the pain.
Gu Nuan slid a bottle of medicine through the gap under the restroom door, "This is a drinkable medication, it can stop diarrhea. Why don’t you try it, Commissioner?"
"Damn it!" Tang Qingzhong cursed, his fingers trembling as he took the anti-diarrhea medicine from her, popped open the cap, and drank it down, gasping, "Did he put something in my coffee?"
No question about that.
"Do you need me to keep the coffee?"
"No need," Tang Qingzhong said, "It’s just making me have a severe diarrhea attack. With his cunning, he surely wasn’t trying to make it lethal."
Gu Nuan leaned against the door, nodding softly.
"You go back, you never know what they might be up to."
Gu Nuan asked Tang Qingzhong to stay in touch, then turned and headed back to the office area.
Meanwhile, Xu Zhilin, taking advantage of everyone else being busy, had been watching Gu Nuan leave.
Seeing both Gu Nuan and Tang Qingzhong leaving their desks one after the other, Xu Zhilin pretended to pick up some documents and quietly headed to Section Three.
When he arrived there, Xu Zhilin instantly fixed his eyes on Gu Nuan’s computer on her desk.
Possibly in a rush to check on Tang Qingzhong, Gu Nuan hadn’t locked her screen. Xu Zhilin came quickly enough that it hadn’t reached the time to auto-lock.
