Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Husband and Wife One Night (4)

That kid could sometimes be easily fooled. A rather unscrupulous thought suddenly flashed through Gu Nuan’s mind.

Xiao Yebai clattered through the dishes and finished washing them.

Gu Nuan, the chef, went over to inspect and supervised his revision.

The kid obediently washed them again because Xiao Yebai loved cleanliness and was kind of obsessive about it.

Finally, after getting the dishes washed, Gu Nuan helped to put them in the sterilizer while telling him, "There’s fruit salad in the living room, go and eat."

Where could you find a wife like that, cooking and even making a post-dinner salad? Xiao Yebai could never even have imagined this before.

More importantly, this woman wasn’t cozying up to his wealth to please him into doing these things.

"Nuannuan."

"Hmm?"

"You’re really great."

Gu Nuan didn’t have time to dodge as his lips gently brushed her forehead as he bent down.

The kid was direct and outspoken. His occasional sincerity made it hard not to be moved.

Gu Nuan stiffened for a moment.

After he kissed her forehead, he scampered off to the living room to eat the salad she had made.

Gu Nuan sighed, "Oh——"

The kid, while eating the salad, continued to flip through his comic book.

Considering that he was likely going to stay over tonight, Gu Nuan found an extra pillow and blanket in the closet and placed them on the queen-size bed in the room.

It’s a small apartment, the room’s just big enough for a queen-size bed.

Gu Nuan thought the bed was too big when she slept in it alone, but now she couldn’t imagine how much space he would take up when he lay on it.

He was tall, she recalled, at least a head and a half taller than her—she was 5’4", so he must be over 5’11" at least.

A real hunk.

With that thought, she began to adjust the middle wall on the bed, kindly making some space for him.

After finishing the bed, Gu Nuan went to take a shower, put her clothes in the washing machine on the balcony, and then shouted to the person engrossed in his book in the living room, "Aren’t you going to take a shower?"

"I will—"

He responded in a tone just like her dad at home.

Gu Nuan didn’t know if all men were like this, but Wa Zicong certainly wasn’t. Wa Zicong was always conscientious, clearer about what to do and when than even she was.

Or perhaps it was because she and Wa Zicong had never truly lived together, so Wa Zicong’s bad habits hadn’t been exposed to her.

Gu Nuan realized she was getting her thoughts all tangled up again. She walked into the living room, and, acting like her mom scolding her dad, she picked up a hanger and knocked the book right out of his hands.

He looked up, surprised, as if no one had ever dared to do that to him.

"Are you going to shower or not? Don’t you know people need to sleep? That I have to work tomorrow?" she said painstakingly, mimicking her mom’s tone, "If you keep this up, don’t stay here anymore. You have no spirit of cooperation, thinking you’re the only one living here or what?"

Xiao Yebai was dumbstruck. No one at the Xiao Family’s place had ever spoken to him like that.

Of course, the Xiao Family’s house was huge, a sprawling villa that housed only a few people, each with ample space, so they rarely got in each other’s way.

So this was what it felt like to be reprimanded by family.

Seeing him get reprimanded yet intriguingly rubbing his chin, Gu Nuan almost rolled her eyes.

Good heavens, had she encountered an alien?

Even Martians weren’t as bizarre as he was.

Xiao Yebai rose from the couch and said, "I’ll go wash, I’ll go wash."
