Chapter 237: Chapter 237 - I Handle It? No, You Handle It

"How about it, is what he claims the truth?"

Her thick curly hair bobbed quickly as I addressed her. Nervous, but not half as much as the one who had actually met me up close once before. Though I grinned at him when he was embarrassed, so that is my fault.

"My sister works... in fashion. She mentioned about the interview you’d be in. We were just... looking."

"Looking suspicious, more like. Hanging around for an hour, taking pictures of the building..."

The younger looking of the two adult males spoke. If this was my old world, that definitely would not have ’flown’. But the other one doesn’t look like they intend to berate him for interrupting the talk of his better.

Not that I need anyone to back me up.

"They’re teenagers. In case you don’t remember what that was like either, you tend to be naturally curious and impulsive. Should they really have known better? Was your snout never popped by your mother for being an unruly little wolf at their age?"

Allowing a surge of exasperation into my voice, I turn away from the one who had to get his words in and toward little Paul. My hand reaches out and lands on his head, drawing him toward me while glaring down at him.

"That being said, you should have brought an adult if you were going to linger somewhere like this and I have a feeling the two of you snuck out of the house. Or at least lied about where you were going."

A sudden coughing sound comes from the girl, though whether that is because I was on target with my guess or because his chin is now laying on my turtleneck’s bust while his hands don’t know what to do with themselves...

"What if it was not these two who found you? Could you not have been kidnapped quite easily by people of their size? Even if you don’t think much of your own safety, think of your pretty companion and do not do dangerous things."

"I... yeah, I didn’t think about that part."

Paul’s little face could probably not get any redder, so I pat him once and released him. He stumbled back and looked frantically between me and his annoyed girlfriend - who won’t actually look at him right now.

> Ah, she’s so cute I want to do her next! Look, the more you push me towards finding and playing with the Alpha, the more I’m going to want to play with others. Have you not learned me by now? <

The older guard was studying me with obvious uncertainty as my steps slid closer to the other teenager. I saw it because I was trying to be coy and not look directly at her either. Though I was prepared to go so far as to chase her down if-

"Ma’am, with... respect, we were told to clear the area of all potential problems. We can’t just let them go because you..."

He trailed off, clearly not sure how to finish that sentence without admitting he didn’t entirely understand who I was - or why his orders likely even mentioned listening to me. At least, that’s the impression that I get.

> No, she would not have explained my importance, just told them I was important. You don’t understand Kyrie Voss all that much either, hm? <

Loosening my gait while I pulled out my phone, I siddled over to the wary girl and activated the camera while leaning to her eye level. Which honestly was not that far... she is probably as tall as me already at her age, if it were not for the heels I wear.

"By the way, it is an absolute pleasure to meet you. My name is Citra Lomdi. While I wish it were under less stressful circumstances, I would love to take a photo together so that it sets things with us even. Can I have your name first?"

"...Zoé Morin. I’m not sure-"

"If you’re worried I’ll use it to get Simone in trouble, don’t. I just like having my picture taken. Another pretty girl being in the photo is a bonus. Just one is fine, isn’t it?"

Before she can really answer, I quickly make the silent fox gesture with a hand that snakes across her shoulder. While I raise my phone out, I poke a small ’kiss’ with it on her cheek.

All three of the quickly taken images turn out well, but one of them has the perfect expression of surprise. If I can get her number, then it will definitely be her contact image!

"Now, let me make a call. The three of us should not be the only people so troubled, should we?"

The phone rang only twice before a voice answered. Calm and slightly detached, which means she must be somewhere that being herself is less possible.

"Citra? How did the interview go?"

"Very well, thank you. Your links were helpful and I appreciate whatever effort you went into with that. But as you know we have a small situation here that you have dumped on me. I’d rather we collaborate."

There was a brief pause. I imagine Claire was either doing something techy or finding a quiet spot.

"Put me on speaker."

Glancing down at the screen, I sweat the fact that I don’t know how to do that for only a few moments. But even though I was just teasing her, the werewolf next to me points up at where I need to tap.

"This is Claire Thomsson of Lunarizon Industries. Is Webb in earshot?"

The older guard straightened up as much as when I had first addressed them. Oh, that’s fun. It’s a shame she doesn’t get out to feel that in person. It can’t be the same watching them hop-to from a screen.

"Present, ma’am. Security detail assigned to monitor around the VIP’s location per the Alpha’s instructions."

"Yes. I know. I cleared the bonus pay. I also know the situation from your report already. Now, is she requesting their release?"

"...Yes, but the young female is not Rimecoat pack. I figured-"

"Ms. Lomdi’s judgment in this matter is to be considered authoritative. Release the juveniles to her, note that they were warned, and then go back to the patrol you are being paid for. Understood?"

It looked like he didn’t really want to agree, but knew the consequences well enough. Probably why she made a mention of having a direct line to affecting his pay.

"Understood, ma’am."

"Excellent. Citra, anything else you need from me right now?"

"No, that should handle it. Thank you, Claire. You can call me later."

"Of course. We’ll talk later."

I ended the call and looked at the two men for just a moment, before going back to taking a few more photos. While she strikes me as a very kind girl, I am very sure she is going to be a tough egg to crack.

"Oh, this one is nice. Should I send it to you?"

"Uhm... no thanks."

Perhaps something to do with how she is a full werewolf. And unless Simone was somehow not letting | Mother’s Intuition | tell me that she was a hidden Omega like it did immediately for Paul... then it’s possible either her or her sister are not blood related.

> Well, complicated family connections indeed, right Vrika? <
