Chapter 412: Chapter 390 Mujin Blossoms
Seeing the door shut, Prince Nineriel slightly furrowed his brow. He bent down and charged towards that direction, his intuition telling him he needed to move quickly or those people might escape his sight.
His enormous body pushed through the air, giving him a sense of muddiness and congestion. Friction generated intense heat, causing his own skin to warm up... Of course, this wouldn’t affect much. If he were not worried that the resulting blast of air might destroy the door, he could move even faster.
The wind, flames, and sound all seemed to slow down as the Prince passed by the Guardian, glancing at her subconsciously with the corner of his eye...
Then, somewhat bewildered, he discovered that this woman seemed to be looking at him too. Their eyes met and immediately--
Boom!
Prince Nineriel abruptly stopped, like a motorcycle at full speed suddenly yanked by a steel cable. The sudden change exploded all the air currents around him. Confused, the giant stood there, turned back, and saw a slender hand holding onto his sleeve, which was nearly torn from the grip.
This scene resembled a woman trying to hold back a departing lover, but set against the backdrop of dripping lava and blazing columns of fire, it seemed quite eerie.
"How did you... manage that?" the giant turned back and asked indifferently.
"I wanted it to happen!" Qiu Mujin let go of his sleeve and turned as well, facing him defiantly.
A few seconds passed, and seeing that the woman didn’t speak further, Prince Nineriel confirmed that those four words were indeed the answer.
It was just somewhat absurd.
Qiu Mujin looked at the emotionless expression of the giant in front of her and couldn’t help but smile wryly, "Let’s put it this way, I won’t let you go."
"You’re going to keep me here?"
"Yes."
"For how long?"
"Until I die..."
This was another exchange that would often appear in romance novels, enough to evoke emotions and sighs even if the specified time wasn’t thousands of years. The response ’until I die’ had its share of emotional weight, but this dialogue harbored no love, only crisscrossing intentions of murder.
As soon as the words left her mouth, the giant’s hand had already grabbed the woman’s neck. His palm was so large he nearly enveloped her shoulders and lifted her high off the ground. Prince Nineriel was evidently not one for much talk. If it was until you die, then it seemed the matter was not difficult at all. His hand began to tighten, muscles bulging and pulling taut, accompanied by the sounds of bones and muscles rubbing together.
However, this bone-grinding sound did not come from the woman but from him. He soon realized that after his hand had grasped the surface of her body, he could no longer tighten his grip at all.
"Heh, maybe you haven’t understood yet." The woman in the giant hand spoke calmly, seemingly feeling no pressure at all: "When I say until I die, I don’t mean till you kill me because... you can’t kill me."
The giant’s grip tightened further, his muscles erupting with all their strength. No swinging, no striking, just "holding," and even this simple action without speed sent a buzzing through the air. Such a level of power could crush anything normal on this planet to dust; however, it clearly did not include the woman before him.
At this moment, Qiu Mujin seemed to feel uncomfortable being held up so high, so she nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders a few times and pushed away the other’s hands from the inside... Her push effortlessly displaced those hands, which were stronger than hydraulic presses.
"I know you’re surprised, but as I said, it’s impossible for me to be killed. The consciousness of the universe has already set the timing of my demise, and if I were to die before that due to some cause, my body would still remain, it might even decay or oxidize into the air. To some extent, I would still exist, and it doesn’t like that."
As she spoke, she had already landed on the ground, smiling at the giant before her, "So, do you understand what I mean now?"
She spoke slowly enough for Prince Ninitiel to integrate her words into his vast store of information. Quickly, his pupils seemed to quiver a few times as he grasped the meaning behind her words.
Panic? Or fear?
Neither seemed to fit. He remained expressionless, but a strange fluctuation began to creak and twist deep within his consciousness, making him feel extremely awkward.
This feeling... was not a good one.
Thus, Prince Ninitiel stepped back slightly. It wasn’t a retreat; he didn’t possess any emotions that could cause him to withdraw. Yet, inexplicably, he did just that. It was an instinct, like a wince or a cough, which despite having shed human confines, was still ingrained deep in his bones through eons of evolution, impossible to escape.
He glanced at the fissure in the ceiling above him, still oozing lava, and leaped towards it with the intention of exiting through there.
This wasn’t him trying to escape, yet he still wanted to get away from this woman.
As he exerted force with his legs, the entire base trembled, and at the same time, the giant launched himself towards the ceiling with a speed that broke the sound barrier.
The next moment, an even greater force gripped him mid-air, and with a harsh yank, slammed him back to the ground! The impact caused a crack in the material of the Splitters’ base.
Prince Ninitiel’s breath hitched, and he clenched his teeth...
It was an instinctive action, like contorting one’s face when in pain, bracing for an impact from a fall, or when tumbling down. It seemed as though twisting the facial features could display greater resistance, but he... he seemed to have never made such an expression before.
Qiu Mujin, smiling, stepped over the chest of the giant. More precisely, she sat on top of his breastbone, legs straddling either side of his neck, carrying a sultry and lewd air.
"Hehe... I’m not dead yet," she said, squinting her eyes in a charming manner.
Then, with a "boom," her slender fist struck the giant’s face, exhibiting no visible strength or speed, yet producing a deafening sound.
And then, another.
Giant echoes reverberated nonstop throughout the space, the ground shook, flames churned, like the bell of hell tolling, one sound following another. Qiu Mujin simply swung her fists, but Prince Ninitiel’s face began to redden, to turn purplish, and a hint of blood seeped out.
At the same time, lines of cracks spread from under Qiu Mujin’s clothes, covering her neck, cheeks, and hands, growing wildly like ivy... And suddenly, with a crisp "snap," something beside a crack burst open, like a shard from a piece of porcelain, flying into the air and vanishing without a trace...
