Chapter 352: Chapter 339 Interrogation

Jimmy was slowly explaining the construction of the Pacific Division to Bai Xiong, while also intermittently addressing the various minor questions Bai Xiong posed. Just like that... after a lengthy journey, the group of four finally arrived at their destination, following a corridor of considerable length.

However, to Chen Xiao’s surprise... upon opening the door at the end of the corridor, what he saw wasn’t an office or archive room or anything of the sort...

Instead, it was a comparatively narrow passageway with several doors embedded in the wall in a row.

"Sir, please hand over all your weapons and equipment..." a guard dressed in a security uniform approached and thumped his chest with a fist.

Chen Xiao frowned and looked ahead, noticing that Bai Xiong and Song Xuan were standing in front of separate compartment doors just like he was, each with a guard holding a gun beside them. As for the man who called himself "Jimmy," he had turned a corner and disappeared at the other end of the corridor.

"Uh... What is this about...?" Chen Xiao asked tentatively.

"Sir, please hand over all your weapons and equipment!" The guard repeated like a broken record.

Chen Xiao sighed, realizing that it was essentially impossible to get any information out of this bit player.

"Alright then!" Chen Xiao responded reluctantly and proceeded to take out all of his belongings. The guard then diligently stripped Chen Xiao of his bulletproof suit before opening the door to the small compartment and gesturing for Chen Xiao to enter.

Yes... the door was pushed open, not slid to one side by electronic sensors like the others he had seen.

This detail naturally did not escape Chen Xiao’s notice. He then entered the room, wearing just his shirt.

The compartment was tiny, with a table in the center and two chairs. One of the walls was adorned with a mirror, which Chen Xiao immediately recognized as a one-way mirror, the kind that appears as glass on one side and a mirror on the other. The remaining three walls were bare except for the door, with no other objects to be seen. Compared to the various high-tech equipment of the Foundation, this place felt as hospitable as an interrogation room in a municipal police jail.

Chen Xiao shrugged and nonchalantly chose a chair to sit down. Then he noticed that the set of table and chairs was completely embedded in the floor. He nodded thoughtfully: "Heh, I see..."

...

As soon as he finished speaking,

there was a loud "clang" from behind him. Clearly, the door that he had just entered was locked. Simultaneously, the entire wall opposite him lit up like a giant screen, with a silhouette of a person appearing on it.

"Hello, resident of the Order Foundation’s Asia Division, field agent Class B, Chen Xiao?"

This was an electronically disguised voice, but it was still clear that it was a question.

Without showing any surprise, Chen Xiao leaned back casually, "Ah, yes, that’s me. No need to verify it again." He spoke with an air of confidence: "And Jimmy, there’s no need for voice modulation or hiding your appearance. If you want me to say something, you should at least show me a real face. That’s common courtesy, right?"

The "shadow" did not respond, and after a moment, the screen flickered, and Jimmy’s face appeared on the wall.

"How did you know it was me?" he asked, his voice no longer electronically altered.

"That? Just a guess," Chen Xiao said slowly, "I’ve seen your kind, always too busy in the office to even find time for a love life. No way you’d personally come out to greet us." He continued leisurely: "Of course, the more important thing is that here I only know the name ’Jimmy,’ so I thought I’d give it a shot. I didn’t actually think it would be you."

"...Alright then, I hope your cleverness can help you answer the following questions..." Jimmy said expressionlessly: "Yesterday morning at 9 o’clock... due to the time zone difference, that would be about 7 hours ago, where were you?"

"Hmm...?" Chen Xiao hummed softly: "Getting right to the point, I see." His mind was already racing. "...which means, this isn’t document compilation at all, it’s an interrogation!"

Jimmy nodded, appearing not to be in a rush to pressure Chen Xiao, and still relaxed, he spread his hands: "Yes, since you’ve figured it out, that saves me the trouble of explaining. So, you should understand that from now on you need to carefully consider every word you say. Oh, and by the way, all the facilities here are reinforced, so don’t try to break anything. And the walls are equipped with pressure sensors everywhere. If you do anything out of line, we can instantly release the support gas from within the walls, and the consequence, of course, is that you and the room you’re in will be crushed to bits by the sea water in a second. Although looking at your enhancement data, you probably couldn’t even dislodge the leg of the chair you’re sitting on, but I thought I’d warn you kindly."

While the other spoke, Chen Xiao had been using his peripheral vision to scan the surroundings: "Thank you for the heads-up. So it turns out this place is specifically for interrogations, huh? Even the door is designed with an ancient bolt style. Wow... and there’s even a keyhole."

"Yes, to prevent individuals with extremely high clearance from opening the doors via some external authorization, each interrogation room door is designed this way. It’s impervious unless you have the key," Jimmy explained: "Now, you should understand your situation, so please answer the question."

Chen Xiao stroked his chin: "Ah, I see. What was your question again? Oh, right... if I remember correctly, at that time I should have been in the coffee shop downstairs from my home." He stood up, pretending to ponder seriously while pacing back and forth, continuing to speak.

Jimmy didn’t ask him to sit still and be quiet. He had great confidence in these interrogation rooms. It wasn’t just Chen Xiao—it would be nearly impossible even for a member of the Omega Squad to escape from here. So the lad could walk back and forth as he pleased.

"With whom?" he asked succinctly.

"Alone!" Chen Xiao answered immediately, as he certainly couldn’t say he was sitting with two Splitters discussing how to rob the Pacific Division, could he?

Of course, his answer was also a probe, as his visit here had been arranged well in advance, implying that this "Jimmy" had likely received some information en route and had orchestrated this interrogation on the fly.

Could it be... the jig was up?
