Chapter 291: Chapter 278: The End of the Dark Realm (Part 2)
Branislav Dosnovich.
This was a cumbersome name. However, in that part of Eastern Europe, such names were extremely common, thanks to their language and tongues, which allowed them to spit out these names within a second.
But if you disregarded the name, Dos was still quite an uncommon man.
His uncommonness was evident in his eccentric personality, fierce appearance, his direct and uncompromising way of doing things, as well as in his munitions dealer father, and his extraordinary love for fiddling with guns and ammunition and his astonishing shooting skills at a young age.
Well... although, in fact, these traits could be omitted, since many people in his country were like this. They loved swimming shirtless in the snow during winter, fighting brown bears with sticks found by the roadside, using a towel to filter gasoline for drinking, and flipping the shovel of an excavator over to build a fire with wood underneath, boiling themselves... of course, they called this "taking a bath"! In this country, there was no such thing as a threat; if you cursed at me, I would hit you, and it was rare for people to go through legal procedures even after being hit by a car. Instead, they would first get up to check for serious injuries, and if they found they could still move, they would rush to the car window, shatter the glass with their bare hands, and pull out the driver to give them a beating.
All these behaviors were completely normal in their country, so being a munitions dealer didn’t have much deterrent power in his own country.
So, what made Dos truly exceptional, was that between the ages of 9 and 15, when boys typically hit their growth spurt, he hadn’t developed at all... Yet at 16, in just three short months, he shot up, appearing to be in his twenties.
At first, everyone thought it was a kind of disease, similar to a growth disorder or something. However, Dos gradually realized that it wasn’t as simple as having a terminal disease because he discovered he could control his strange body...
For instance, he could lower his metabolic rate, go without breathing for 10 minutes, or suddenly burst into action, doing in 1 second what would normally take 10 minutes. He could go without a bowel movement for a week while just eating, and he could also quickly heal his wounds and scar over.
Moreover, it wasn’t just about speed, but a change in time itself; he could stretch a second for himself or compress a lengthy period into an instant. Thus, during the last Dark Realm mission, he dared to enter the anomaly without any protective gear, because he could survive in the Dark Realm for an incredibly long time.
His unsurpassed long-range shooting ability, rapid movement, and the capacity to endure for an extended time even with compromised protective gear made him the ideal candidate for missions in the Dark Realm.
However, at this moment, Dos seemed to have fallen into a strange kind of thought trap.
He yelled at Abraham, hurled insults at the field operatives, and then rushed toward the giant aberration in the distance!
He didn’t look for another entry point but instead recklessly sought to prove himself, with the method being an attempt to take down the giant monster before him.
"Dos! Come back!" Abraham shouted!
But at this moment, the other man couldn’t hear anything. A cloud of dust exploded from the ground, and Dos shot out like a missile, flying straight toward the aberration above. At the edge of sight, a beam of light pierced through the top of the aberration, followed by an explosion. The flesh that had gathered on top of the monster’s head was blown to pieces, and Dos crashed into its interior. The next second, the aberration’s body started to violently undulate and burst open with countless bloody wounds from the inside!
No one knew how much ammunition Dos had discharged in that instant. He had compressed dozens of minutes into that time, exhausting all his carried ammo in a second, and the aberration before him indeed seemed on the verge of collapse.
Abraham’s eyes bulged with anger, unable to understand Dos’s actions, but it was too late to turn back now. He quickly activated the bio-radar within his body, locking onto Dos’s position. Two small rockets carrying a defensive stance shot out from his back—one stuck into the ground beneath his feet to protect the comrades by his side, and the other rocketed into the aberration, heading straight for Dos.
Immediately after, Abraham, dragging his heavy body, made a small hop forward and then a huge jet of air burst from beneath his feet, propelling him forward! At the same time, he activated the energy reactor in his chest, and a surge of tremendous energy filled his body in an instant, radiating from his steel-synthetic surface, making him appear like a blue, spherical bolt of lightning striking towards the target. Then came the expected loud bang. Under the energy release mode, Abraham became a constant source of burning, exploding, destructive energy. The soil on the ground turned scorching hot in an instant. Though there were no organics to burn, it didn’t stop the ground from turning soft and red under the intense heat, as if melting into a sticky magma. And the moment he collided with the aberration, all flesh withered and carbonized instantaneously. The outward-bursting energy, as though tangible, coursed uncontrollably over the slowly dispersing body, expanding in a circle along the ground while converging upwards, forming an inverted bolt of thunder that shot towards the sky!
That was Abraham’s method of combat... Within the range of the energy effect, friend and foe alike were disregarded, nothing left alive! This mode of energy release placed a particularly heavy burden on his body, and each time he used it, he had to first protect his teammates with a powerful defensive stance. Coupled with his sluggish speed, he absolutely wouldn’t resort to this method unless it was absolutely necessary.
...
Meanwhile, several streets away amidst the scarlet fog, Bai Xiong stood side by side with Song Xuan.
This was Bai Xiong’s first time witnessing the Omega team at battle. Although his face remained calm, he knew he should be immersed in shock at this moment.
Whether it was Dos’s long-range support or the earth-shattering bang that had just happened, their abilities had reached a nearly divine level.
However, these were just the capabilities of the Omega Squad!
So, what would the man he ultimately had to face, the one standing at the pinnacle of the Foundation’s combat power... look like?
"What, scared?" Song Xuan’s voice came from beside him, casual and seemingly unastonished.
With an expressionless face, Bai Xiong shook his head: "No!"
Song Xuan walked in front of Bai Xiong, looked at his calm face and said, "Ah, you really are a strange person. I distinctly feel that you’re hiding some big secret, but having been teammates for so long, I can’t see through anything..."
"I thought you wouldn’t mind that," Bai Xiong said indifferently.
Song Xuan smiled a charming smile which, if one ignored her withered body, could be considered quite beautiful: "Sometimes I wonder. If one day, my execution target is you, what method would I choose to kill you?"
... Bai Xiong fell silent, looking at the gradually calming storm clouds in the distance, and murmured something incomprehensible, "I hope that day comes soon... at least that would mean I’m getting closer to him..."
Suddenly, a listless, half-dead mutter came through the communicators of Song Xuan and Bai Xiong, probably because the speaker had just come within the range of information reception.
"Hey hey~ Anybody out there~? Where did everyone go?"
