Chapter 158 - 158 151 Numbers Five
Chapter 158: Chapter 151 Numbers Five Chapter 158: Chapter 151 Numbers Five The toilets in a building are definitely all of the same style, so Dr. Zhang was certain this was the toilet of the mental hospital he was in!
As mentioned earlier, as soon as they climbed out of the hole, they saw a row of urinals, and next to the urinals was the door to the men’s toilet. On the opposite wall was a row of partitioned cubicles… Yes, those were the kind of stalls made of wooden planks, with open space above the head, and doors that could be kicked open, used for defecating.
To the left of the defecation cubicles were a row of sinks, with a large mirror mounted on the wall that nearly covered the entire wall… The last wall had two windows, and naturally, both were obscured by frosted glass, so please refrain from any dirty thoughts…
At this moment, Dr. Zhang had finished surveying his surroundings, standing thoughtfully at the edge of the large hole, though it was unclear what was on his mind. Liu Yi, on the other hand, stood in front of the mirror, grimacing and making all sorts of meaningless expressions…
A few minutes later, Dr. Zhang realized he couldn’t make heads or tails of the situation and could only shrug his shoulders…
“Let’s go,”
he said, walking straight to the toilet door and giving it a tug.
Then… it wouldn’t budge…
“Huh?” Dr. Zhang was taken aback.
The doors to these toilets don’t have locks! Usually, while cleaning, one would only need to place a “Cleaning in Progress” sign at the entrance… It was simply impossible for the door to not open!
Dr. Zhang yanked on the door again with more force, but still… the door didn’t move an inch, not even a shake, as if someone had drawn a door on the wall and just attached a handle.
Liu Yi continued to marvel at his “handsome” reflection in the mirror when he heard grunting noises beside him. He turned his head just in time to witness Dr. Zhang’s struggle with the door.
“Eh! What are you doing?” he couldn’t help but ask.
Dr. Zhang, out of breath and sweating, wiped his forehead…
“Can’t you see? This door won’t open!” he shouted irritably.
Liu Yi made another “are you stupid” face… “Can’t open? Well, why don’t you just push it!” he bellowed, exasperated.
Dr. Zhang smacked his forehead in frustration, facing this mental patient, he didn’t know what to say.
…
…
Five minutes later, Liu Yi was now in a position where he was “sticking his butt out, feet against the wall, hands on the doorknob, hanging in the air.” His teeth were clenched, veins on his forehead popped, and his face was red with exertion…
“Aaaahh————”
A roar burst from his throat!
Finally… after relentless effort, he… fell on his butt to the floor.
“Hmm! This door indeed won’t open!” Liu Yi dusted off his buttocks, stood up as if nothing happened, and declared.
Dr. Zhang dropped his head and muttered something silently…
There was no helping it, the other guy was a mental patient, he couldn’t possibly stoop to arguing with a mental patient, could he?
…
“What do we do now?” asked Liu Yi.
Dr. Zhang furrowed his brow. Today’s events were just too bizarre. First, they inexplicably found themselves in a room with two strange chairs, above which was a connection to the hospital’s toilet, and now the door of the toilet defied all logic and wouldn’t open.
As he pondered, Liu Yi started ramming the door with his shoulder, making “clang clang” noises…
Ah, right, there was also this mental patient who seemed to have popped out of nowhere, claiming to be Liu Yi, but he himself had no recollection of this patient at all.
…
Well, forgetting about that for now, he needed to figure a way out as soon as possible. Dr. Zhang walked over to the window and turned the handle.
“Click,”
The window swung open in response.
But, on the outside of the window was an iron grille that covered the entire pane. The spaces were very narrow, barely wide enough to extend an arm through. There was no chance of getting out that way!
Dr. Zhang didn’t appear too disappointed, as he had anticipated this; the windows of a mental hospital, especially on the first floor, would obviously be barred.
“So we can’t get out the window either?” Liu Yi appeared to have finally given up on opening the door and came over to ask.
“Nonsense…” Dr. Zhang stared out at the eerie pitch-black outside, speaking in an annoyed huff.
Suddenly, right in his line of sight, a piece of paper quietly appeared.
White paper
The paper slowly drifted down from above the window, in the mixed light and shadow, it looked as if it was reflecting the room’s light, strikingly glaring…
Dr. Zhang stared at the paper, caught off guard for a second, but quickly regained his composure, took a swift step forward, and reached through the gap between the two railings to catch the paper.
However, the gap was indeed too narrow to move his arm freely, and what’s more, he had just wasted a second, so the paper slowly, leisurely slipped away between his fingers.
…
“Hey! Who are you?”
Just then, Liu Yi standing behind yelled out loud, startling Dr. Zhang.
But he wasn’t foolish; he instantly realized that this piece of paper couldn’t have simply floated down because each floor of the hospital was structured the same, and there would definitely be a bathroom above this one.
That is to say… someone deliberately threw down the paper.
There was someone above!
…
…
Dr. Zhang lunged toward the railing and also shouted, “Who are you? What do you want to do?”
However… there was no response.
In the dark and murky night, only the bathroom he was in gave off a bit of light, as if the whole hospital was dark except for where he stood—it seemed to be in another world.
That included the room above.
For a moment, Dr. Zhang felt an unjustified chill run down his spine…
…
Suddenly, he seemed to have remembered something.
The “Daily Schedule” in his ward
The “Control Console Password” that Liu Yi had cracked in the intensive care corridor
The two of them had found two sets of numbers… and after finding these two numbers, both of them had suddenly woken up from a dream and opened their eyes, then came here.
He didn’t know what exactly had happened.
But a voice within told him that the paper just now… seemed to signify something.
So he leaned down. Extending his arm through the lowest gap in the railing, following the trajectory on which the paper had fallen, it should be just below the window.
He wanted to get that paper…
But the window was too high, and he couldn’t reach it.
Just when his arm was stretched painfully.
With a “snap”.
Then a “rustle rustle” sound burst into a chorus!
Dr. Zhang retracted his arm in fright… On turning around, he discovered that the mirror above the washbasin behind him had shattered into pieces!
Liu Yi, not knowing where he got it from, held an old and tattered mop handle. Still in the motion of “smashing forward,” he stood amidst the scattered mirror fragments.
Dr. Zhang was a bit dazed; he watched Liu Yi bend down to pick up a piece of glass, wiped it off with his hospital gown sleeve, and walked towards him. Liu Yi handed it to him.
…
“Take a look…”
He said flatly.
