Chapter 706: Chapter 453 The Fisherman_2
He was born during a period of unusual climate conditions, and he had developed his skills in that very climate. Back then, those skills were vital for survival.
As he closed his eyes to think about the final scene for tomorrow, his agent opened the car door and got in.
"Just received news, Jing City TV plans to launch an adventure reality show called ’Survivor,’ worth considering."
"You know I don’t do these kinds of variety shows..."
Before Tong Da could finish his sentence, he looked toward his agent, with whom he had worked for many years:
"Jing City TV... When did they start focusing on variety shows? Is there something special about this project?"
"This is the information I’ve collected; it’s not much, but take a look."
Tong Da took the document his agent handed him and began to analyze it:
"It is indeed strange for Jing City TV to suddenly launch this kind of program out of the blue, with no prior news."
"A filming location provided by the Joint Insurance Bureau? But that doesn’t explain much..."
"Feng Yi? You’re not joking? The same Feng Yi that’s been all over the internet? What’s he doing joining a show like this?"
Tong Da flipped through the few pages of documents, his frown deepening.
His agent said, "Feng Yi isn’t a guest; he’s just an investor, and he has also promised to provide some important medicines from Ancestral Factory. I’ve asked around, and according to an insider, both people from the Joint Insurance Bureau and the show’s team hope that Feng Yi will participate.
"The publicity department of the Joint Insurance Bureau wants to use Feng Yi’s high popularity to bolster their mass base, while the show’s team is coveting Feng Yi’s fame. Feng Yi himself is also interested in participating but can’t spare the time. Though as an investor, he might make an appearance and will be involved in the promotional activities. Feng Yi seems to like doing exciting things and might truly see potential in this show; the information should be reliable."
Tong Da had never met Feng Yi, and thinking about the mix of true and false news exposed online, he chuckled and didn’t give his opinion.
But he really took these pieces of information seriously.
He always felt that something else lay concealed behind it all.
To reach the heights he had today, Tong Da had a very keen intuition in certain respects, able to sniff out that hint of something unusual from the little information available.
Participating in such shows would indeed be quite difficult. The question was, was it worth it.
"No rush, let’s watch and see. I’ll make a call," Tong Da said.
"Alright. I’ll step outside for a smoke."
His agent walked out and closed the car door, sealing off any noise. He stayed by the car to prevent anyone else from disturbing them.
In another city.
A practice room, arranged with utmost care.
A female artist with a fishtail braid looked solemnly at several invitations laid out in front of her, together with a document that had just been delivered.
Her cautious gaze swept over them, eventually resting on the thinnest document.
The entertainment circle changes too quickly, with tides rising and falling, some swept away to unknown corners, others stranded on the beach, struggling feebly.
How many can truly grasp the trend?
And this time, is another trend about to rise?
If it really is an upcoming trend, the benefits of the initial wave would indeed be worth going for!
But if not... the losses wouldn’t be small, after all, it would mean giving up other opportunities during the same period.
No need to rush the decision, further consideration is needed.
In other places, similar events were taking place.
There were actors and singers who had been famous for years, as well as popular artists just breaking free from the idol label.
Those who had received the news all had resources and connections; they were not doing poorly in the circle.
However, upon hearing that they might have to face harsh weather, many backed out.
With so many options for making money and gaining popularity, why join a dangerous show?
Saying that you’re embracing the government’s policy, wouldn’t it be more pleasant to join some cultural and tourism variety show, using your brain, enjoying scenery, having fun, and dining out?
Why trouble yourself?
Not everyone can sense the undercurrents beneath the surface.
At a film and television studio.
After attending a wrap party for a film crew, rushing through a promotional event and a dinner party, Feng Chi lay down on the hotel sofa, looking at his upcoming work plan.
After glancing at it for a while, he tossed it aside, feeling dizzy and short of breath, longing for a vacation!
While lying there, his highly paid agent walked in mysteriously.
"A’chi, I just got a tip about an incredibly promising variety show that’s in the works, ’Survivor,’ a motivational survival reality show with big production! Didn’t you say you don’t want to shoot movies next and prefer to do variety shows? This one’s good! I heard it’s backed by top leaders, and the location for the first season is even provided by the Joint Insurance Bureau!"
Feng Chi lazily took the smartphone his agent offered and looked at the electronic document on the screen.
Then he decisively handed back the phone and silently stared at his agent.
Under the encouraging gaze of his agent, Feng Chi sighed and stood up.
"We need to look at this pragmatically. Take this first season that you just mentioned. The filming location, which you’ve heard about, is very likely to be in a small county town in the north, right in the path of the winter cold wave, facing the fierce cold front, and there might not even be adequate heating."
Feng Chi raised his hand and pointed at himself from top to bottom.
"Let’s be real, from what angle do you see me as a ’Survivor’?"
His agent opened his mouth, then closed it again. He really couldn’t say.
Ah, indeed, this kind of program wasn’t quite suitable.
Feng Chi lay back down: "So you see, the first season could eliminate me immediately. I’m a born and bred southerner; apart from going north to ski, I’ve never spent a long time outdoors in the northern regions in winter. We need a clear self-awareness, know what we’re capable of; I might have the will but not the power, and participating would only result in criticism!"
