Chapter 637: Chapter 415: Go Dig Diamonds_1

A city near the rainforest, not vast in area, but vibrant in development.

Unlike the remote countryside villages, this place had long been transformed into a tourist area, fully equipped with all sorts of facilities. Here, you could see tourists of different skin colors and features, and the chatter of various languages rose and fell in waves.

In this city, which amalgamated several tourist attractions, mid to high-end hotels were an indispensable part.

Jia and the others were waiting in one such upscale hotel.

That day, upon departing from Sulayem’s village by plane, they didn’t return the way they came but flew directly to this place.

This was also the meeting point prearranged by Feng Yi. When Feng Yi emerged from the rainforest, they would stay here for a few more days, treating it as a regular vacation.

Jia, Ding, along with Cai Bing and Feng Shou, all arrived together, but Feng Shou went home first. Having obtained the tree species, he was eager to return to his orchard to tend to the research.

Cai Bing continued to stay with Jia and Ding, waiting for Feng Yi. His task as an interpreter was not yet finished, but compared to the village in Sulayem, the work here in this tourist city was more relaxing; there was no need to be constantly on guard against the unpredictable villagers. Here with electricity and internet access, the living standards in terms of clothing, food, accommodation, and transport were on a whole different level.

Actually, Cai Bing also had many questions, but he couldn’t get answers from Jia and Ding. Waiting in the hotel for Feng Yi, he had no idea how many days it would take.

It didn’t matter though, he was paid daily, and he didn’t even have to cover his room expenses.

During the wait, he wasn’t idle; he went out to gather some up-to-date information and to scope out fun places. Once the boss emerged from the rainforest, they would still have a few days to enjoy themselves here.

Cai Bing returned to his hotel room from outside and spread out the materials he received today to analyze and record his findings.

While he was noting things down, his phone rang, displaying a call from a colleague.

"Hello? You finished your gig that quick... I’m not up for drinks, got no time, still on a job!"

The person on the other end asked, "I see you’ve been pretty active in the chat group, isn’t your job giving you too much downtime?"

Cai Bing replied, "I’m waiting for the boss to come out."

Their colleague, surprised and slightly thrilled with gossip, exclaimed, "Oh, your boss got locked up?! What happened? How many days are they in for?"

Cai Bing retorted strongly, "Piss off! Your boss is the one who got locked up! It’s not what you think! He’s in the rainforest conducting research."

Losing interest, the other side said, "Oh, oddball."

From their perspective, those so-called experts who made trips into the depths of the rainforest were considered an odd bunch.

"You’ve got guts! Who’s your boss?" the person continued, "Venturing into the rainforest is a highly challenging endeavor. Seriously speaking, what if he doesn’t make it out?"

Cai Bing too had thought about it: what should he do if the boss didn’t show at the designated spot?

Yet, he dared not ask.

Neither did he want to hear such demoralizing talk from others.

Just as he was ready to snap back, Cai Bing received a message from Jia.

Glancing over and finishing the content, Cai Bing perked up, "Not in the mood to chat, my boss is out! Got work to do! Bye~"

The person quickly said, "Wait a second! Does your boss have any other jobs that need people over there? I’m free right now and can take on a job anytime!"

Cai Bing said noncommittally, "Sure, I’ll ask for you."

Ask my ass!

Why would he share his meal ticket with a competitor?

He was Cai Bing the indispensable!

After a hasty pack-up, he brought the local travel guide he researched over the past few days and scurried off to meet the boss.

Feng Yi had emerged from the rainforest at the agreed time and arrived at the hotel.

When Cai Bing arrived, Feng Yi was dining in the hotel suite.

He had actually already eaten once before; this was his second round, taken at a more leisurely pace.

Upon reaching the hotel, Feng Yi had taken a shower and changed from head to toe, so when Cai Bing saw Feng Yi’s clean and neat clothes and shoes, he didn’t find it odd.

In fact, even if someone saw Feng Yi’s shoes in good condition as he walked out of the rainforest, it wouldn’t be an issue.

Nobody knew what exactly was packed inside the large backpack he carried into the rainforest. Maybe he had a pair of shoes they didn’t know about and switched halfway?

At that moment, Cai Bing was more concerned about Feng Yi’s health condition.

He had even suggested to Jia to schedule a doctor’s examination for Feng Yi a couple of days ago, but his proposal was declined.

Jia simply told him that Feng Yi had his own personal doctor, and upon returning home, he would have a comprehensive checkup by them.

Now, it seemed that Feng Yi’s health was quite good; there were no apparent injuries on his body, his complexion looked even more robust than before he went into the rainforest, as if he had taken some sort of miracle drug!

Cai Bing took out the travel information he had compiled and asked about the next itinerary, "Brother Yi, how do you want to play?"

Feng Yi said, "Rest for two days first."

In the rainforest, he was too busy enjoying himself to get much sleep, and the food situation was somewhat meager.

Now that the conditions were right, it was time to eat well and rest up, replenishing his strength.

Cai Bing could understand Feng Yi’s choice.

In his view, the boss certainly needed to recuperate. After all, surviving that many days in the rainforest must have been exhausting.

"After resting for two days, we can go out and have some fun," Feng Yi said, looking at the travel information Cai Bing had prepared. "They all seem alright; I’ll think about it over the next couple of days. Oh, and do you know anyone who is well-versed in the local history and culture?"

Cai Bing retorted, "I’m well-informed about this place!"

Feng Yi shook his head, "I mean someone who has a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural aspects of this area."
