Chapter 610: Chapter 399 I Don’t Understand!_1
Having decided to attend the seminar, Feng Yi was already making preparations on all fronts and, once the procedures were completed, he planned to head to the venue in advance according to his schedule.
He didn’t need to hurriedly organize a report, so he had ample time to become familiar with this type of conference activity.
The materials provided by the joint insurance bureau were only partial—it wasn’t that they were unwilling to give more, but rather, there were many changes before the conference, including those who prepared reports and lectures. The content could still change during this period, so the information provided wasn’t very detailed.
Beyond this, there were also a small number of people who submitted materials directly to the organizers without going through the joint insurance bureau, therefore the bureau definitely didn’t have comprehensive information.
Feng Yi simply went to the conference with the mindset of learning, as many researchers and scholars had very interesting projects.
Before departing, Feng Yi contacted a senior with extensive conference experience.
"Hey Steve, still bustling about over there?"
Feng Yi observed the background on the video call and could tell that Steve was still on the construction site.
The main structure there was almost complete, and Steve personally oversaw many of the construction details. It wasn’t that he couldn’t hire people, but Steve didn’t trust others, and he was involved in everything from design drawings to equipment purchases.
Steve placed great importance on this project, hoping that many aspects of the work could be completed in one go. If the construction went smoothly and the progress speeded up, he could move his "little darlings" over next year!
Recently, Steve was slightly overexcited, with a smile not yet faded from his face when he answered the video call.
"I’m staying longer on site today, been rushing certain parts of the project, so I need to keep a close eye on it," Steve said.
From his expression, the recent construction must have been going rather smoothly.
Struck by a thought, Steve added, "Oh, by the way, your museum gave me a lot of inspiration. I’ve been researching these past few days and came up with a design, let me show you!"
Feng Yi: ???
What inspiration? What design?
Recalling the conversation he had with Steve on the day the museum opened, Feng Yi finally remembered some not-so-pleasant content.
Like Steve’s alternative aesthetic taste.
Feng Yi instantly became unsettled.
Wait a minute! I don’t want to see it!
Before he could refuse, on the other end of the video, Steve, emotionally charged and quick in action, grabbed a tablet, swiftly pulled up an image, and shoved it in front of the camera.
"Look!"
This snake enthusiast was a man of his word, and in matters of his beloved field, he was extremely efficient—
In the picture, he had indeed placed his own head on a snake!
That is to say, the entire snake had Steve’s head in place of the snake’s, only it looked more natural after image processing.
But!
The proportions, the combination, it all looked odd no matter how you viewed it!
Feng Yi didn’t know how to comment.
Compared to Feng Yi’s own "artistic style," Steve’s creation seemed more fitting for netizens’ title of "weird species," didn’t it?!
This sort of imagery, setting aside everything else, was at least more impactful mentally!
Not averting one’s eyes was already the greatest form of respect!
Feng Yi could somewhat understand how guests felt when they saw his statue at the museum opening.
After a pause, Feng Yi managed a smile: "It’s very much in line with your tastes."
"Hahaha, I also think it’s super suitable for me!" Steve laughed heartily as he shared the creation process of the image with Feng Yi, along with the follow-up production process.
Feng Yi listened cooperatively, and after a while, he steered the conversation back to the seminar.
"Oh, that event? The joint insurance bureau asked me too, but I declined, busy here, don’t have time to go. Did they contact you?" asked Steve.
"Yeah, they said there was a change in the original roster of attendees and then they approached me," Feng Yi replied.
After thinking for a moment, Steve said, "They’re conducting strict internal audits, I know. It’s affected quite a few people; lots of events had sudden personnel changes.
"They offered you the slot because one, they want to give younger people more opportunities to attend these types of conferences, to see the research outcomes and views of experts and scholars from around the world in related fields. And two, you’re less likely to be bribed compared to others. After all, you’re wealthy and, of course, there might also be factors involving the Ancestral Factory. As far as I know, some new drugs developed by the Ancestral Factory have been quite helpful to the joint insurance bureau."
This was also what Feng Yi had thought.
Steve continued, "Actually, you don’t need to think too much about it. Now that you’ve been chosen, just go and see, gain some experience, think of it as a funded educational trip... Are you traveling with a group or on your own?"
"On my own," said Feng Yi.
"Alright then. I used to do the same," Steve remarked.
If traveling with a group, expenses for airfare and accommodation could be reimbursed, and a part of the food costs would be covered too.
Traveling independently essentially meant paying out of pocket. Steve had his own plans whenever he attended such events, so he generally didn’t travel with a group.
Steve didn’t know if Feng Yi had his own plans, but he was aware that Feng Yi had his own or could charter private planes, and certainly had other requirements for accommodation. Given Feng Yi’s financial condition, he truly didn’t need to squeeze into the publicly funded slots.
Knowing that Feng Yi had a lot of free time at his disposal, Steve enthusiastically suggested, "The location for this event is great. If you get bored, you might take some time to fly to the rainforests in the neighboring country for a beautiful encounter! They have lots of ’little cuties’ there! Of course, there are also ’big cuties’!"
There was no need to explain what creatures Steve’s "beautiful encounter," "little cuties," and "big cuties" referred to.
