Chapter 595: Chapter 388 Technical Support_1

Feng Yi looked at the empty display space and imagined in his mind the scene of his prototype model being placed there.

He always felt a bit ashamed.

However, compared to that slight discomfort, he was more eager to use this model to test the world’s reaction.

While still young, why not do something crazy?

Feng Yi guessed that once the model was made, if it was ever exposed, others might just think he was engaging in cosplay.

In the times of his elders within the clan, when information wasn’t so widespread, one could claim a territory and freely roam in one’s original form or play in the deep mountains and forests without worrying about being discovered.

But now, and in the future, with satellites, drones, surveillance, and the high-powered zoom cameras nearly everyone had on their smartphones, the risks were too high.

Feng Yi sighed as he looked at the empty space.

Let’s give it a try.

The model was crafted by the butler with his own hands, but so far, Feng Yi hadn’t seen it.

He suspected the butler might incorporate some personal touches, but even if he did, Feng Yi would tolerate it. After all, placing the model was just an experiment; as long as it roughly resembled the intended form and achieved its purpose, that would be enough.

Regardless of how much it was altered or how many small details were added, surely his original form’s imposing aura would be conveyed, right?

Let the butler have his little hobbies.

Returning from the collection hall, Feng Yi had to pack, as he had joined a wetland research team and was set to depart in a couple of days.

While he was packing, he received a call from Yue Gongyang, who wanted Feng Yi to make a trip to the Ancestor Factory Headquarters before leaving.

"A critical project in the core laboratory has encountered a bottleneck and needs some... well, technical support."

Yue Gongyang simplified the many steps involved, which could be understood as:

Transforming A into B to ultimately obtain the target substance C.

But now, the transformation from A to B, while theoretically feasible, had yet to be successful.

In one of the critical steps, the experimental substance had to maintain activity for a certain duration to support the completion of the entire procedure.

The details were too complex to explain over the phone, so they wanted Feng Yi to come to the laboratory and lend a hand.

Concerned about his own private coffers, Feng Yi certainly wouldn’t refuse.

He immediately had Jia drive him to the Ancestor Factory Headquarters Building, where he used a dedicated passage and a private elevator to ascend to Yue Gongyang’s office.

This floor had already been cleared of people; no outsiders were present.

There was a hidden door in Yue Gongyang’s office. After entering a password, they encountered a second secret door, which scanned Yue Gongyang from head to toe with a beam of light, confirming his identity before opening.

Inside was a passageway.

"This leads directly to the core laboratory," Yue Gongyang explained.

They walked through the passageway and changed elevators, undergoing multiple identity verifications in the process.

Indeed, the core laboratory was the "heart" of the Ancestral Factory. Whether one was coming from another passageway or from the office of the manager Yue Gongyang, identity verification was mandatory.

"Would an alarm go off if unrelated personnel entered here?" Feng Yi asked.

"There would indeed be an alarm, but more often than not, they’d be sent directly to the underworld," replied Yue Gongyang.

Measures surely couldn’t be mild in a place that contained core secrets.

"Just ahead is Ji’s independent laboratory, separated from the rest of the core team," Yue Gongyang said as he led Feng Yi over and pressed the doorbell.

The room was soundproofed, with a thick explosion-proof door barring the way.

The door opened, and the two of them donned the work clothes laid out there, passing through a decontamination room.

Moving further inside, dressed in a lab coat and waiting for them, was Ji Fan, the head of the core part of the Ancestral Factory, whom Feng Yi referred to as "Ji."

Without wasting words, Ji briefly explained the experimental intent and the basic operational steps to Feng Yi. After all, Feng Yi wasn’t a professional experimenter and didn’t need to grasp those overly meticulous details.

Ji opened a precision instrument that housed ten tiny tubes.

"I’m going to start the operation now. When I have an intermediate product, can you preserve its activity for thirty seconds?" Ji asked.

"I’ll try," Feng Yi said.

He had never done it before, so he couldn’t make any absolute statements.

To maintain the activity of such a substance likely meant enveloping it with an active factor. Yes or no, he would only know after attempting.

"Don’t feel pressured. I’ve prepared ten samples for you to try one by one. It’s okay if it doesn’t work; we’ll find another way to break through," Ji said.

Yue Gongyang, standing behind, showed a look of pain as if cutting into his own flesh.

Those ten tubes had a lot of money invested in them!

Though it pained him, he didn’t speak up to explain.

Such expenses were necessary!

Feng Yi didn’t turn around, nor did he see the change in expression on Yue Gongyang’s face, but he could sense it through the emotional information.

The degree of Yue Gongyang’s distress indicated a significant investment inside!

Feng Yi’s expression became even more solemn and earnest. This concerned important research results from the core laboratory, as well as a major profit for the Ancestral Factory, and was directly related to the money Feng Yi himself could pocket!

A moment later, cautiously taking over one of the tiny tubes handed to him by Ji, Feng Yi allowed the active factor to seep from his fingertips, enveloping the liquid inside the tube.

Half a minute later, Ji, who had been performing a series of experimental operations, took the tube and proceeded with subsequent steps.

Unable to contain himself, Yue Gongyang stepped forward to ask, "How’s it going? Will it work?"

Ji’s words were laced with laughter, "Success is assured!"

Yue Gengyang let out a long sigh of relief.

The money that had floated away was coming back!

After that, the remaining nine tubes were processed one by one.

Yue Gengyang looked towards Feng Yi, his face showing gratitude and emotion,

"Before this, we had never succeeded, but today, with your help, we were finally able to obtain this substance smoothly! This is of great significance to the entire Ancestral Factory! There are still some cumbersome steps to go through in the laboratory, but the final product we will be able to obtain is that special anti-aging drug I told you about, probably no more than ten doses!"

Feng Yi asked, "Just these ten tubes?"

Ji replied, "Ten tubes are enough. Going forward, we will attempt to break through this technological barrier. Technology must not be dependent."

Yue Gengyang started to speak, then stopped himself. But knowing Ji’s temperament, he didn’t try to persuade him and instead thought about how to use those few top-tier anti-aging drugs.

Feng Yi was curious, "How much do you plan to sell this for?"

Yue Gengyang’s mouth curved slightly, his tone a bit solemn,

"This? Before resolving the technical barriers within, not for sale! Priceless! We will only give it away!"

Feng Yi’s eyebrows lifted slightly.

From what he knew of Yue Gengyang, a gift that was ’priceless’ was the most expensive one!

What sort of favor would it take to receive such a gift from Yue Gengyang?!

Yue Gengyang was a formidable manager. Feng Yi wouldn’t overly meddle in these affairs.

Over the years, the Ancestral Factory had grown into a behemoth with global influence. While many coveted it, it had been able to stand firm over the decades through countless unseen battles, thanks in no small part to the managers.

Ji went off to busy himself with the experiments.

With Feng Yi there, Yue Gengyang took the opportunity to discuss with him the current research achievements of the Ancestral Factory based on the "Y" series.

He turned on the electronic screen and flipped to a certain page for Feng Yi to see.

There was a chart with lines radiating downward from a point marked [Y], branching out and connecting, forming a rough umbrella shape, like a sprinkling showerhead.

Each line connected to an icon, with the icons labeled only with codes made of numbers and letters. Only by clicking on them could one see more detailed introductions.

Feng Yi casually clicked on one and looked at its detailed introduction.

Seeing this, Yue Gengyang commented, "This is a very great painkiller, safe, fast-acting and non-addictive."

"Pain can rob a person of their self, control their thinking and feelings. Painkillers still have a big market. The Core Laboratory discovered this substance while researching ’Y’, but now this project has been handed over to other teams to carry forward."

Feng Yi navigated back from the page and looked at the dense chart on the screen, reminiscent of the water streams from a showerhead.

"Are these all research achievements of the Ancestral Factory itself?" Feng Yi asked.

"Not all. The highlighted ones are our independent developments, and the marked ones are Core Laboratory research. The rest are joint ventures with other research institutions or teams. After all, there’s only so much we can do on our own," Yue Gengyang explained.

The Ancestral Factory’s own research projects accounted for less than a tenth of the chart!

Still, this was enough to surprise Feng Yi.

Even though he had heard a lot from Yue Gengyang before,

it was nothing compared to the visual impact of the chart before him.

Yue Gengyang smiled and added, "These are only the ones we are involved in, but according to our data, global research achievements based on [Y] far exceed this!"

Yue Gengyang typed a line of command on the keyboard and clicked confirm.

On the screen, the chart that had looked like a sprinkling showerhead suddenly expanded like a blooming dandelion!

Yue Gengyang took Feng Yi’s hand and shook it earnestly, "Thank you for the gift you’ve brought to this world!"

Inwardly he added, And for the benefits it brought us!

After finishing up here, Yue Gengyang, the busy manager, had a lot more tasks to attend to. Feng Yi accompanied him back, and then they took the private elevator from the top floor down to the lower levels.

Feng Yi didn’t head back immediately. As he thought back to the dense charts he had seen in the laboratory while walking towards the parking lot, he took a detour to the Ancestral Factory exhibition hall, donned a mask and clear glasses, and walked in.

Every day, many people from all over the world would make a special trip here for a "pilgrimage."

If there were any new products or achievements, this place could be swamped, making it necessary to control the number of reservations.

Feng Yi looked at the company’s culture wall.

He didn’t feel that he had made a significant contribution; he had just provided some venom. It was these researchers who had truly transformed the deadly substance into countless beneficial drugs and materials.

Gazing at the timeline of the company’s development, his eyes stopped at the phrase "Riding on the wind, even pigs can fly," pausing for thought.

That sentence was loaded with meaning, and he felt it implied something deeper—though most people wouldn’t think in that direction.

As Feng Yi was looking, he sensed someone trying to take a sneaky photo. His gaze swept over them.

Two young people put down their phones, their eyes darting away, pretending to be ordinary visitors.

Feng Yi didn’t pursue it; he withdrew his gaze and stepped away.

After he left, the two young people whispered to each other,

"Was that Feng Yi?"

"Definitely him! I wouldn’t mistake him!"

"What’s he doing here?"
