Closer to Revealing My True Self -
Chapter 541 - 355 Buy Down_1
Chapter 541: Chapter 355 Buy Down_1
On the expansive sea, there lies a tropical island.
Due to its distance from the continental shelf and the absence of nearby islands, it usually lacks popularity.
However, today, there’s some activity on the island.
The Island Master arrived with his team and some hired personnel.
At this moment, the Island Master wasn’t inside the carefully constructed houses but sitting on a wooden stump by the seaside.
Leaning against the seawater, he gazed at the island.
When he had purchased the island, it hadn’t had so many facilities; it had even been damaged on purpose, making it look very unattractive, and the price was not high. It was he who had invested a substantial sum to refurbish this place.
The money spent on the renovations was much more than the cost of the island itself!
Having put in effort, time, and money, to say there were no feelings involved would be impossible.
But when weighed against interests, those feelings faded.
Today was the day he had agreed to meet face to face with the buyer, who wanted to take a look around.
He didn’t really need to come in person, but in order to show sincerity and increase the likelihood of succeeding in the transaction, and to sell the island as soon as possible, he still made the trip.
At the same time, he was curious—who would be so bold as to take over a remote island during these times of climate flux?
He also wondered what the buyer looked like.
As he pondered this, he heard the sound of an airplane in the sky.
"Oh, they’ve arrived."
A private plane landed on the island’s runway.
The cabin door opened, and Feng Yi emerged.
He had intended to help the butler out, to prevent him from stumbling.
But the butler declined.
The butler was in especially high spirits today; even after nearly ten hours of flight, he showed no signs of fatigue.
Wearing sunglasses, he strode energetically out of the plane.
Behind the sunglasses, his gaze critically took in everything on the island.
But perhaps the filter added a touch of satisfaction to the island’s natural beauty.
As for the man-made facilities, they did not meet the same standard; the butler’s gaze merely swept over them without much attention.
The Island Master had already come over to greet them.
When Feng Yi removed his sunglasses and the Island Master got a clear look at his face, he was slightly taken aback.
The Island Master’s businesses were all overseas; however, a junior in his family had invested in China’s entertainment market. He had heard of Feng Yi and could recognize him.
He just hadn’t expected that Feng Yi would be the one bold enough to take over the island.
That day, when he joked with a friend that "some animals dare to touch what others are afraid to," he had assumed that it would be some venture capitalist who would show up. Now, it seemed his expectations had been defied.
No matter what he thought internally, the Island Master still wore a very friendly smile on his face, and he did not adopt a superior elder’s stance in his speech. It seemed he treated Feng Yi as an equal.
Many young people dream of owning their own private island, and even if it’s a remote, poorly equipped place, it wouldn’t matter.
Or perhaps it was to join certain circles?
The Island Master didn’t ask about Feng Yi’s true purpose for buying the island, nor was he overly curious. He was more concerned that saying too much might deter Feng Yi from taking over.
Jia, with a drone at hand, asked one of the Island Master’s assistants:
"Can I use this to have a look around?"
"Of course, please feel free," the assistant replied.
Jia sent the drone up to observe from different angles.
It wasn’t just to check for any issues with the island. Jia also needed to understand the terrain and layout, to see how to arrange security measures if Feng Yi decided to buy this place.
Danger comes not just from nature, but one must also guard against humans.
Besides, collecting more footage would be useful for future renovations and remodeling.
Bing and the butler stayed in the villa on the island.
The Island Master took Feng Yi to appreciate the scenery of the island.
Walking down the laid paths, the Island Master was eager to share the advantages of the place with Feng Yi:
"Away from the cities of concrete and steel, away from the noisy crowds, it’s a very peaceful place here, perfect for enjoying the blue sea and sky all to oneself."
"Indeed, it’s a very quiet place," Feng Yi said.
Before coming here, Feng Yi had collected some more information about the island.
Overall, the island really wasn’t that great—
It was too far from the mainland, inconvenient for the average person.
Barely able to withstand the rising sea level, it would be uncertain in the event of a tsunami, though that was true for other islands as well.
The island’s terrain wasn’t exactly flat, and the vegetation coverage was mediocre. From an investor’s perspective, it wasn’t the best choice.
However, Feng Yi was neither an average person nor an investor.
The many disadvantages here, for Feng Yi, were actually advantages.
Moreover, there was fresh water here, and a large beach. That was enough.
The Island Master had no idea about Feng Yi’s personal standards; he just assumed that it would be easier to persuade a younger person like Feng Yi.
Island Master, "I have put quite a lot of money into developing this place. The island has all the necessary living facilities in place. But I’m not sure if they meet the preferences of your generation. If you’re not going to stay immediately, you could rent it out."
The Island Master said this, but there was a hint of pride in his heart.
When he developed the place, he had hired an internationally renowned island development team. The various buildings and entertainment facilities on the island catered to all age groups, and the island was maintained and refurbished every year—it was something to be proud of!
Yet he was unaware that Feng Yi had different standards!
The entertainment facilities and buildings were indeed good—take the island’s villas, for example. It was clear that the owner had meticulously curated them, and even now, they didn’t seem outdated.
But, they weren’t tall enough, nor sturdy!
Feng Yi thought about how he would remodel them.
Island Master, "There’s also a very large indoor swimming pool here, with an adjustable canopy. If you’re worried about swimming in the sea being unsafe, you can swim here. The outside sun is intense, so if you’re concerned about getting tanned or burned, swimming here is also nice."
Feng Yi nodded in satisfaction.
Even though he considered the indoor pool more like "a big bathtub for soaking," it was better than nothing.
The Island Master led him out.
"Oh, look at those cute little waves on the beach!
"If you’re ever feeling down, you can try walking barefoot on the beach, enjoying their wash over your feet—you’ll feel the warmth and peace that belong to this place~"
As for when storms arise, creating waves tens of meters high—that need not be mentioned at this time.
Feng Yi followed his gaze and looked over, with a bit more satisfaction in his eyes.
He did like the big beach; how nice it would be—once there was no one else around, he could go walk on the sand!
Moving on.
The Island Master asked him another question.
"Fishing?"
"Yes."
"Then I definitely have to recommend my favorite spot to you!"
There was an area on the island perfect for fishing, the Island Master enthusiastically shared with him. To prove he wasn’t bragging, the Island Master even showed Feng Yi some old fishing videos.
What the Island Master didn’t mention was that these videos were at least two years old.
As for the fish that had become increasingly scarce over the past two years, and the gradual disappearance of nearby marine life—that also didn’t need to be mentioned at this time.
But what the Island Master didn’t know was that even without being told, Feng Yi could sense a slight pollution in the waters near the island; the vitality of life was not high.
The Island Master might not visit the island often, but that didn’t mean no one lived there. He left people to look after the island, but those left behind may not care much for it.
But this wasn’t a big problem for Feng Yi. Once he bought the place, those people would have to leave. Right, he thought, he could mention the pollution issue to Yi; it might come in handy when negotiating the price.
Seeing the smile on Feng Yi’s face, the Island Master thought he agreed with his words and felt even prouder.
Indeed, young people lack experience; they believe whatever you tell them.
The Island Master’s smile deepened.
"There are coconuts here, but most have fallen off already, and there aren’t many left on the trees.
"Oh, a reminder—the coconuts on this island may be different due to the variety or soil quality, so I suggest those with a weak stomach shouldn’t drink the juice. This natural laxative is particularly potent; you wouldn’t want to try it."
Feng Yi: "...Mhm." Can’t wait to try!
The Island Master raised his eyebrows, not sure if he really trusted Feng Yi’s "Mhm."
But based on his experience, no amount of warning can stop curious young people from reaching out and exploring the world with their own feet.
The Island Master only mentioned it out of a sense of duty; whether or not Feng Yi would try or what the result would be was none of his concern.
The Island Master led Feng Yi toward the woods.
Branches and leaves shielded them from the blazing sun above, sparing them from the burning sensation on their skin.
Island Master: "Someone comes by to clean up now and then, but most of the time, they just clean up the dead branches and leaves. I can’t bear to cut down these trees, I prefer to keep them as they are and let nature take its course."
The trees broken by storms and those that were replanted weren’t mentioned either.
Island Master: "If you’re gonna climb trees, make sure to clear the ground first. If you fall and get impaled by the leaves, you won’t want to know what that feels like. I also wouldn’t recommend walking here barefoot."
As Feng Yi walked through the woods, the soles of his shoes prevented him from feeling the sand and leaves on the ground. He thought to himself: once there’s no one else, I could walk barefoot from one end of the island to the other!
With the Island Master guiding him, he had a quick look at the rooms on the island. They walked some of the way and for other parts, they used a small electric vehicle meant for island use.
The island had solar power equipment and small electric vehicles for transit; it was all here.
After seeing the island, Feng Yi called a brief meeting with Jia, Yi, and the others and decided to go ahead and buy the island.
The butler didn’t express much opinion on the purchase; he was more focused on the island’s facilities and future renovations.
Once Feng Yi made his decision, the Island Master was particularly happy.
"Good! Decisive!"
The Island Master liked people like Feng Yi—wealthy, impulsive, easily persuaded!
It’s always more reassuring to settle such matters as quickly as possible.
For that reason, the Island Master made concessions during the price negotiations.
The process was quite pleasant.
Feng Yi was already informed about property rights and tax issues; a few procedures were a bit bothersome, but he didn’t need to handle them personally.
The deal had been made.
The Island Master became the former Island Master.
The successful seller of the island popped open a bottle of champagne on the spot and had a delicious meal prepared to celebrate.
Before leaving, the former Island Master shook Feng Yi’s hand warmly:
"You can now freely enjoy the beauty of this island. I hope you have a wonderful vacation!"
The remaining formalities, unless his presence was required, were mostly handled by a proxy service.
Soon, all personnel belonging to the former Island Master left the island.
Before they left, the former Island Master had taken with him everything he needed from the island. Whatever was left on the island now belonged to Feng Yi. Whether to keep or remove the facilities was up to him.
The former Island Master’s plane took off.
The roar in the sky completely disappeared, leaving only Feng Yi and his group on the island.
Feng Yi didn’t hurry to check out the other details of the island; he threw off his shoes and ran to the beach to splash in the water.
The butler stood in front of the large ground-to-ceiling window and watched the figure running on the beach, smiling affectionately.
"Still such a child at heart!"
The others in the room, around Feng Yi’s age: "..."
On the beach, after stepping on the sand for a while and not feeling satisfied, Feng Yi ran towards the deeper water, dived in, and swam around leisurely.
Then, as the new master of the island, Feng Yi joyfully sent out a message to his surroundings.
This was the first message he sent out as the master:
[Hello everyone in the sea! I’m your new friend!]
The few small fish frolicking amongst the rocks darted away in a flash.
Suddenly, all around was extraordinarily peaceful.
Even the playful waves seemed to shrink back.
