Closer to Revealing My True Self

Chapter 538: Chapter 353: Homecoming_2

The evening breeze brought various scents of the desert from afar, some restless, yet full of vitality, unlike the desolation people commonly perceive.

In fact, if he had ample time and no one to disturb him, Feng Yi would prefer to venture into the desert alone to seek the fragments that his ancestors had blasted from the meteorite, perhaps to uncover even more hidden secrets.

The desert buried many secrets, and also preserved many.

Feng Yi decided that once the fervor here subsided and no one paid attention to this place anymore, after the house he bought on the land was built, he would return to dig out those buried secrets.

He exhaled deeply and felt a bit worried.

There were still many questions about harnessing energy from the "visitor from outer space."

Besides this method, was there another way to make the energy substance more abundant?

Another restless night of sleep ensued.

The next day.

Pan Weining drove them to the airport and picked up a few friends along the way.

These last two days had seen many official jets coming and going; every day groups arrived on chartered flights.

As a result, the plane waiting for Feng Yi didn’t stand out too much.

Those who recognized the model could discern whether it belonged to a charter company or a private owner and might take an extra glance, speculating whose plane it was.

Feng Yi, wearing a hat, mask, and sunglasses, only took them off after boarding the plane.

His expression was tense, filled with unease that others couldn’t understand.

Not until he saw the cabin decor and murals unchanged did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The steward did not alter the decorations this time.

This time, however, it was just Feng Yi himself, without any friends accompanying him.

Bing came with the crew; there was no one else in the cabin and the crew was separated. Feng Yi didn’t go to the bedroom and instead sat in the cabin, talking planes with Jia.

Although he had spent quite a sum on meteorites in Tuo Jia Town, the Ancestral Factory earned more, and a large influx of funds was coming, with Geng announcing a project yielding results.

The money for the plane was almost saved up; it was time to start considering which model to buy and what configurations to choose.

Feng Yi wouldn’t consider stock airplanes; those already built weren’t suitable for him.

If he were to order a custom design according to his specifications, the production cycle varied from one to three years.

Regardless, in the short term, Feng Yi could only borrow the steward’s plane for now.

Besides the plane, Feng Yi also wanted to buy an island.

This was something he had long coveted.

An island especially luxurious, superb in all aspects, and large in size was beyond his reach financially at the moment.

But buying an island that was about right was already enough.

He planned to first acquire a small island; it didn’t need to be very good, just sufficient for his needs.

This trip to explode the meteor taught him some new skills and advanced his control over the energy substance, feeling that his developmental progress had pushed forward, and today he vaguely experienced pre-molt syndrome.

Yet he also felt that the actual day of molting was still some time away.

He wondered if he could buy a small island before molting.

If he could, he would stay on the island during those few days of molting.

If so, he wouldn’t need to worry about affecting others, nor fear others affecting him.

After over four hours, the plane arrived at Yang City Airport.

The car they had left in Jing City had already been driven back by someone appointed, and today Yi came to pick them up, driving another car from the garage.

When they drove back to the residential complex, just like the last time Feng Yi returned from the Dragon Boat Festival activities, the steward stood in the same spot to greet him.

The difference was, last time Feng Yi moved the meteorite to his bedroom without giving it to the steward right away. This time, Feng Yi handed over the prepared gift before entering the door.

In a palm-sized, star-shaped glass bottle, sand from the desert was contained, topped with a thumb-sized small glass bottle.

It was a bottle within a bottle.

The black pebbles contained inside the smaller bottle were the certified fragments of the meteorite.

The steward’s stretch of poker-faced days finally broke into a fold of smiles.

After a brief rest, Feng Yi went to find Wu and gave him a small glass bottle too, but it contained only one pebble.

Wu was overjoyed, "Is this a fragment of that fiery meteor?"

Feng Yi nodded, "Can we use the instruments here to look at its structure and see if it contains any special components or something?"

"Of course, we can!" Wu couldn’t wait to take it to the apparatus.

All four major microscopy devices are available here, including spectrometers for studying molecular structures.

Sample preparation and other preliminary work would still take some time. Feng Yi left the item with Wu and went upstairs.

It was not until after dinner that Wu called Feng Yi over.

During the mealtime, Feng Yi had his meals delivered by Bing.

Once Wu was interested in something, he would immerse himself in it to the exclusion of everything else.

Feng Yi entered the underground laboratory and saw Wu still wearing an excited expression on his face.

"This is a very interesting object! I had only heard about it before but never really had the chance to study it firsthand!" Wu exclaimed excitedly.

Wu brought up some images on the screen.

"It has some unique crystal structures inside that others have also found in meteorites! While studying this crystal structure, I also discovered a kind of very, very beautiful nanocluster core," Wu said with enthusiasm.

Feng Yi looked at the images on the screen, unable to see what was so beautiful about them.

But listening to Wu, it seemed quite formidable.

Could it be related to energy materials?

Thinking this, Feng Yi asked, "Is this type of crystal stable?"

"It’s not stable," said Wu. "It can only maintain its form for a while and is likely to change over time."

Feng Yi had a guess in his mind.

This was probably why the United Insurance Bureau and Security Department did not completely prohibit the selling of star sands.

They needed to collect as many samples as possible in the shortest amount of time so that the recorded data would be the most complete.

The longer the timeline, the greater the data deviation.

When the recent meteor shower exploded, it didn’t fall in large chunks but disintegrated into tiny particles and dust that settled over the vast desert.

The United Insurance Bureau and Security Department’s manpower was limited, and they couldn’t possibly maintain a long-term presence there.

It was best to continue the current approach, allowing them to constantly receive meteorite samples.

Unaware of Feng Yi’s thoughts, Wu continued, "This structure is very peculiar, and there are major companies studying this as new materials and new energy sources. Oh, one of your grandmother’s companies, the one researching materials, has an important lab working on new energy sources. Perhaps they have studied these."

The company founded by his grandmother for material research had now become a major player. After her death, it was taken over by his elder cousin.

"Isn’t that company focused on materials? Are they also expending effort on energy research?" Feng Yi asked.

Thinking, Wu offered an example, "Have you seen those energy stones in sci-fi movies? They’re probably exploring in the direction of energy materials. The unique crystal structure found in meteorites makes such an idea feasible. I remember at an energy-related conference two years ago, a representative of that company mentioned this idea, but it hasn’t yet been realized."

Feng Yi was energized.

"Is that company lacking in investment?" he asked.

"They shouldn’t be," said Wu.

"Oh."

Feng Yi was actually thinking, if it’s not possible to obtain enough energy material from "visitors from outer space" and "nature," then what about synthesizing it artificially?

Humans always manage to create miracles they themselves never imagined.

If only an energy stone could be made! That might be what Feng Yi needed.

Even if it wasn’t pure, had a low conversion rate, contained impurities, and had additives, I would accept it! Feng Yi thought to himself.

I’ll ask my elder cousin about it when I see her.

Since they had never met, they could hardly be considered close. So, Feng Yi thought he might be able to learn about the progress of the energy research there as an investor.

He would put it on his agenda and set it aside for now. Feng Yi returned to mulling over his recent molting syndrome and had Wu run some checks for him.

Looking at the results, Wu said, "No need to worry. It’s just as you thought, there’s certainly a tendency, and it’s a very normal physiological change for you. When you reach a certain stage and the body is no longer satisfied with its original configuration and urgently needs a change, do you know what this is called?"

Feng Yi, "Atavism?"

Wu, "...Or you could call it evolutionary mutation!"
