Chapter 531: Chapter 351 Offer It Up_1
Ultimately, the wealthy buyer couldn’t suppress his curiosity and purchased the bottle of sand at a high price.
Although it didn’t contain the large meteorite pieces he sought, the bottle of sand was somewhat satisfactory.
After the delivering meteorite hunter left, the wealthy buyer said to his subordinate,
"Keep an eye on Feng Yi’s movements. If he takes the stone for testing, pay close attention to the test results!"
It wasn’t just these wealthy buyers who were interested in Feng Yi’s activities; many people were.
The major buyers were awaiting the authentication results from that end because they would never take such things for official institutional authentication themselves. If it were authenticated as real, they would have to leave their goods there.
And sellers were even less likely to make the first move; they now lived in fear of attracting the government’s attention and would definitely not send anything for institutional testing.
Thus, both buyers and sellers focused their attention on Feng Yi. They were happy to let someone else take the lead.
Feng Yi made no attempt to hide his whereabouts. Upon reaching Tuo Jia Town, Jia drove Pan Weining and Wen Zhiyu to the residence first. Afterward, Feng Yi took the newly found can of pebbles to the designated institution by the Joint Protection Agency for authentication.
Team Leader Yuan had already sent someone to wait at the institution.
After verifying his identity, Feng Yi only had to hand over the items. The rest of the procedures would be handled by the people from the Joint Protection Agency.
"When can I expect the results?" Feng Yi asked.
"We can’t be certain of that. If it’s common components, the results will come quickly. If there’s anything special about the composition or structure, then it’s uncertain how long it will take. However, we should quickly find out whether it’s real or fake, and we’ll text you when we do," the man said.
Whether it was a real meteorite would be known soon, but the meteorite’s composition, its scientific research value, and more detailed test data would take an undetermined amount of time.
Feng Yi nodded, "Alright, thanks for the trouble."
"You’re welcome. Team Leader Yuan says if it turns out to be real, you’ll be credited for another merit."
Merits weren’t of much significance to Feng Yi in this matter; he was more eager to find out whether these pebbles had any abnormal structural components.
Returning to the residence from the testing institution.
Pan Weining and Wen Zhiyu were setting up dinner on the table, a meal they had ordered from the hotel. Having been tired from a day’s work outside, none of them wanted to cook, but they desired a lavish meal to treat themselves, so takeout was the only option.
"Back so soon? When will the testing institution have the results?" Wen Zhiyu asked impatiently.
"The authenticity should be confirmed soon, but I’m not sure how long the component data will take," Feng Yi said, "What about the sand you guys shoveled?"
Pan Weining replied, "It’s in the room."
They hadn’t started picking out the stones from the sand as soon as they returned. They preferred to wait for Feng Yi’s authentication results before deciding how to deal with the sand.
Sunset in Tuo Jia Town came later, and while the town usually sank into slumber after the sun disappeared from the sky, it remained active today.
The airport was busy with planes taking off and landing, and hotels, guesthouses, and homestays saw a constant flurry of cars and pedestrians.
Stalls along the streets had switched on their lights, starting the night market business.
A tourist, appearing quite ordinary, surveyed his surroundings between several stalls after deplaning.
About half an hour later, he approached one of the stalls and said,
"I’ll take all these ’Star Wish Bottles’! How about a discount, boss?"
"Certainly!" The merchant was ecstatic, promptly beginning to package the items. He didn’t inquire what the customer wanted so many for; after all, there could only be so many reasons, and as a seller, his job was simply to sell his goods—asking too many questions wasn’t wise.
After receiving his goods, the tourist didn’t leave. Instead, he leaned in and whispered, "Do you have any that contain sand?"
The merchant understood immediately.
This was about the area where the fiery meteor had burst and fallen, the sand from there.
The merchant’s demeanor didn’t change, still attending enthusiastically to his customer, "Since you’ve bought so much, I’ll throw in a little something extra for you."
With that, he naturally handed over the free gift.
The tourist accepted the small complimentary item, hesitated for a moment, but then departed.
Not bothering to unpack the gift on the street, he proceeded to the hotel, checked in, and only after entering his room did he unwrap the gift.
Inside, besides a small toy, was a card.
It bore an address.
Without stopping to rest and setting aside his luggage, he took the card and followed the address to a warehouse.
He knocked on the door.
After a while, a scruffy-looking middle-aged man opened a crack in the warehouse door.
"Who are you?" the person inside asked.
"Just a tourist, curious whether you might have something... interesting," he said, handing over his card.
The person inside took a look at the card, opened the warehouse door further, and gestured for him to come in.
The warehouse was filled with many goods, and the dim lighting obscured what they were. But after walking down a narrow aisle and turning a corner, there was a brighter space, and the goods there caught the visitor’s eye.
"Is this the ’Stardust Sand’?" the visitor asked.
’Stardust Sand’ was the name given by local meteorite hunters to the outsiders.
After all, the meteorite that had plummeted from the fiery meteor couldn’t be sold outright. They couldn’t issue proof, and samples taken to testing institutions might be confiscated.
The rise of ’Stardust Sand’ was wholly inspired by Feng Yi.
If the samples Feng Yi submitted were authenticated as genuine, the price of Stardust Sand would skyrocket.
Even if it were to be verified as fake, they would mix some meteorite fragments into the sand. It would still be called Stardust Sand, just not sold at a high price.
