Chapter 529: Chapter 350: Go find Feng Yi!_2
The man continued, "Don’t be so serious, just talk about our own thoughts. Who do you think will find the meteorite first? Who are you more optimistic about? Meteorite hunters? Tourists? Or some official department?"
Team Leader Yuan, looking across the endless desert, said casually, "The first to discover, I bet on Feng..."
At that moment, Team Leader Yuan’s satellite phone rang.
He answered and listened to the report from the other side.
A moment later, the call was over.
Team Leader Yuan’s lips curled up slightly, "Feng Yi. He found particles suspected to be fragments of a fireball meteorite and will send them for testing when he returns to Tuo Jia Town."
When they were out investigating and without network coverage, they couldn’t check messages on chat apps or emails in time, but their assistants would keep an eye out for them, and if there was any important information, they would contact and report immediately using the satellite phone.
And the call just now was from an assistant informing him that Feng Yi had sent a message saying he had found particles and microparticles thought to be from a fireball meteorite burst.
Although Feng Yi’s specialty wasn’t in this area, Team Leader Yuan believed that what Feng Yi found was more likely to be real.
Feng Yi was like his great-grandmother, always able to do things that were inexplicable.
"Microparticles..." Team Leader Yuan looked at the desert in front of him, "Collect more dust samples."
Over there, Feng Yi and his company were already on their way back.
Moving along the highway, the return trip was faster, less bumpy, and they had network reception.
Wen Zhiyu was showing off his haul from the trip to his friends.
Feng Yi looked outside. On the way back, he saw even more people than when they set out.
Some were creating short videos, clearly a team collecting material outdoors.
There were also live streamers, though they could only operate in areas with good network connections, which meant near the highways, limiting their range.
Pan Weining saw this too and said with a smile, "Social media reacts quickly. Actually, even if we don’t find a meteorite in the end, this trip is worth it. It can help with business, increase knowledge, and provide physical training."
This was how Pan Weining differed from Wen Zhiyu. For Pan Weining, every outing was valuable, even without a tangible find, as it was an opportunity to train his body.
As they were nearly back to Tuo Jia Town, Feng Yi spotted a slightly larger and more professional filming crew.
Besides filming and gathering material in the desert, another key purpose was—the vehicles they used there.
The brand sponsored advertisements, and the team was required to use a specific model of car during the video shoot.
It was hard to tell whether they were filming a documentary or a short film, but looking at the crew and their equipment, the investment was definitely substantial. They might even have the support of the local publicity department—after all, such a development opportunity for the local area had to be seized.
The vehicles entered the town.
Stalls lined both sides of the road, bustling with activity.
It was hard to imagine that just a day earlier, the place looked nothing like this.
Countless tourists, evidently from out of town, lingered among these small stalls, haggling and buying things they liked.
As the flow of people increased, the cars’ speed slowed down on the road.
Feng Yi’s gaze swept over one of the stalls, then he suddenly spoke up, "Wait a minute, I want to buy something."
The car parked to the side, and Feng Yi, wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a face mask, got out.
Many people here were dressed similarly; he didn’t stand out.
Feng Yi walked up to the stall and picked up a delicate glass bottle that was on display in one corner.
The vendor, thinking Feng Yi didn’t know what it was for, introduced it enthusiastically, "This is a ’Star Wish Bottle.’ It’s filled with stars! Real stars!"
Fragments of planets that fall down are also stars!
When they are ground into dust or powder and put into bottles, they’re called ’Star Wish Bottles.’
It doesn’t matter if you can’t see a meteor; we’ve got meteors right here in the bottles, making them ’Star Wish Bottles’!
Isn’t that more substantial than making wishes on a screen?
Listening to the vendor’s pitch, Feng Yi saw that there was also a certification of meteorite identification next to them, looking very formal.
The vendor said proudly, "What we use here are real meteorites! We disdain to sell fakes!"
Feng Yi looked around again, noting there were also boxed gift editions available. Inside each was a copy of the certification that could be checked online, with a number marking the meteorite dust in the bottle, supporting verification.
The vendor enthusiastically recommended the gift box to Feng Yi, "If you don’t trust the authenticity of what you’ve bought, you can send the dust from the bottle to a reputable institution for testing, to see if it matches the information of the meteorite connected to the number."
Of course, the price of such gift boxes was much higher.
"If you’re not fond of it yourself, you could also buy it as a souvenir to give away. It makes for a presentable gift! These are selling really well today!" The vendor wasn’t lying; the ’Star Wish Bottles’ were indeed selling well that day, and he was happy about it.
The vendor had finally found a use for the low-priced meteorites that had been languishing in warehouses for years, as well as the leftovers from making handicrafts—and all at a good price!
The vendor didn’t consider himself to be dishonest.
We still have some conscience! Unlike those with black hearts who outright use fake meteorites, and yet charge higher than me!
After so much introduction, he thought Feng Yi was interested and might buy a few, only to hear Feng Yi ask, "Do you have empty bottles? I want an empty one."
Pan Weining and Wen Zhiyu also came over, following suit, indicating they wanted to buy as well.
Wen Zhiyu even said, "Great idea, I’ll buy a few to give away when I get back!"
He had dug up plenty of sand today, sand from the desert and stardust, all by his own hand! Wasn’t this more meaningful than any other?
