Chapter 482: Chapter 327: The Importance of Participation_1

After confirming the plans for the afternoon, the three shifted their attention to the dishes on the table.

As the host, Pan Weining looked at the soon-to-be-empty plates and asked Feng Yi, "Should we order some more?"

Although the range of dishes one could add on the spot was limited, the sight of the plates being cleaned out gave the impression that the guests hadn’t eaten their fill, which seemed a bit impolite.

Were it family or close friends who were very familiar with each other, it would be no big deal. However, Feng Yi was their distant cousin’s lifesaver and had done them a great favor, so how could they let an honored guest go unsatisfied?

Even though he felt that a normal person’s stomach couldn’t handle any more food.

"There’s no need, what we have is enough! I’m eating just right!" Feng Yi said.

This was already the most he was willing to show in public.

He could indeed eat a lot more, but he couldn’t show that in front of strangers!

"There’s not much food left, let’s put in some effort and avoid waste," Feng Yi said.

Hearing this, Pan Weining’s smile grew wider, and he reflected on himself, realizing his understanding of Feng Yi was too one-sided. People who could venture into remote mountains and forests for missions, who had endured hunger and experienced food shortages, took food more seriously.

Just like his elders who had lived through periods of food scarcity due to abnormal weather, they had gone hungry and, even now with better circumstances at home, tried not to waste food.

When Pan Weining and his friends went on adventures, they had also experienced hunger, and anything tasted good when hungry. So whenever he dined with close friends and family, they made sure to finish their meals.

Of course, everyone has different attitudes and approaches to life, and he couldn’t impose his standards on others. Even if Feng Yi only nibbled a little from each dish, he wouldn’t chastise him, at most feeling that they weren’t quite on the same wavelength.

Feng Yi’s hearty appetite did surprise Pan Weining, but he kept his composure, treating Feng Yi as usual, and took a moment to send a message to a friend who was supposed to come over and help with leftovers:

[No need to come, we’ve cleaned the plates.]

Pan Weining’s friend: [??? I was just about to head out, are you sure I don’t need to come over?]

Pan Weining: [Positive.]

The other side: [Alright, then I’ll head out for some fun!]

After the meal, the Pan brothers took Feng Yi to the paintball shooting range.

To be more precise, it should be called a paintball shooting club, a kind of combat shooting game.

The place Pan Weining recommended wasn’t just limited to an indoor venue; they also had the option of a vast outdoor area.

It took over an hour’s drive away from the city to get there.

"My friends and I, if we don’t have other activities planned, come here almost every week to play for half a day," said Pan Weining, parking the car and leading Feng Yi inside.

Pan Youning was also familiar with the place and said to Feng Yi, "I think it’s good to come here once in a while too. In paintball, hits are obvious and can’t be denied. We don’t bring those who like to cheat!"

Pan Weining glanced at his cousin, who had a big appetite for the game, but said nothing.

His cousin didn’t cheat, but the problem was he wasn’t skilled at it!

If it weren’t for him being Pan Weining’s cousin, who would bring him along to play?

Ignoring Pan Youning, Pan Weining continued, "There are many places to play paintball, but my friends and I often come here because, first, this place is large and well-designed with a variety of battlefield scenarios, and the owner is very responsible. Second, I like the equipment here best; it’s satisfying to play with!"

They went to the window to collect their equipment.

"It can’t compare to the real thing, of course, but for a game, this place has some of the better experiences since they’ve improved some of the processes," said Pan Weining, handing a paintball gun (to avoid censorship) to Feng Yi.

"Give it a try."

Feng Yi took it and felt its heft.

Next to him, Pan Youning, holding the equipment he was used to, said to Feng Yi, "The guns here have a good feel to them, and they look cool to use, but they’re a bit heavy."

That’s why Pan Youning always chose the lighter weapons whenever he was brought here to play. After all, he was more likely to hunker down on the "battlefield."

If he rushed out, he’d only be a drag.

Whenever his brother brought him here, it was just to let him get a feel for the atmosphere and to move around a bit, not to spend all day indoors. That’s all! He never expected him to achieve any combat feats.

"Brother Yi, let’s head over there to practice first, do some free shooting, get familiar with the operations and the feel," said Pan Youning. Every time he came here, he spent most of his time in the practice area. His brother and his friends would only bring him for one match, not keeping him in tow the whole time. So when he couldn’t join in, he practiced there.

The practice area for beginners had both fixed and moving targets for practice.

Feng Yi bounced the gun in his hand lightly; its weight had no effect on him.

Then he started shooting at fixed and moving targets for practice.

Meanwhile, Pan Weining bought a few bottles of water to bring over when he ran into a group of friends just arriving at the venue.

"Big Pan, brought your little bro again, huh? Didn’t you say you couldn’t hang out because you had something else on?" the hulking figure Wen Zhiyu bellowed from the front.

"We decided to play a bit after lunch. What about you guys, didn’t you say you were going mountain climbing?" asked Pan Weining.

"There was an issue over there, they wouldn’t allow us to climb, so we decided to come here to get some exercise. How about it, shall we start with a game?"

"You guys go ahead, I’ve got an important guest to entertain today."

"How important?"

Wen Zhiyu and the others looked over curiously.

At the practice field, all the people were decked out in gear and helmets, which hid their faces, but they could recognize Pan Youning by his chattering.
