Chapter 416: Chapter 295 What Water Python?_1
Two patrol officers finished reporting the situation to their team and took another look at Liu Xiang.
Liu Xiang now seemed much calmer. Consequently, one of the patrol officers continued to ask him some questions.
They asked Liu Xiang for his name and contacted his family.
Liu Xiang cooperated with these questions, but his attention was not fully focused, as if he were carefully remembering something, and he answered absentmindedly:
"My name is Liu Xiang, my parents are... phone... "
"I was tricked into coming here tonight..."
Liu Xiang reported his name and his parents’ names and phone numbers, asking the patrol officers to help him get in touch.
During the conversation, he coughed several times. Liu Xiang had choked on water and was somewhat weak; his throat was uncomfortable, making it difficult to speak smoothly.
The nights in the mountains were cold, and even though he was wrapped in a blanket, having just come out of the water, the evening breeze could still give Liu Xiang a chill.
But no matter how much the patrol officers persuaded him, Liu Xiang refused to rest in the vehicle, insisting on staying by the lakeside. If they pressed the issue, his emotions, which had just calmed down, began to stir again.
"Alright, alright, no getting in the vehicle! Why don’t you move to a spot that blocks the wind... Don’t move, don’t move! Calm down!"
The patrol officers didn’t insist further; for now, their only task was to stabilize the situation until specialized personnel arrived to take over.
Liu Xiang’s cellphone had fallen into the lake, and even if he had it with him, it might not work.
After recording the information, one of the patrol officers directly dialed the number with his own cellphone.
During the questioning, they had already learned Liu Xiang’s identity.
He was somewhat well-known in Rong City, having visited Yue Mountain many times with their friends, a group known for driving luxury cars, leaving a memorable impression on them.
For this reason, both patrol officers felt a twinge of concern.
They were new to this area, just reassigned this year as part of a regional planning initiative; they had only been transferred over a few months ago and weren’t particularly familiar with the territory, not equipped to deal with anything significant.
Facing such an accident that seemed to involve complications, they were bound to be more cautious with their words, not committing to anything beyond their capacity.
Contemplating how to speak with Liu Xiang’s family, the patrol officer pressed the call button.
At a mansion somewhere in Rong City.
The Liu family had just returned home from an evening business negotiation.
Relaxing on the living room sofa, learning that Liu Xiang was not yet home, his dad casually remarked:
"Out gallivanting again!"
Liu Xiang often stayed out late; sometimes he would come home, other times he would simply spend the night outside or cause some trouble and run off to his grandparents to hide out.
Thinking about young family members mentioned during tonight’s negotiation, and comparing them to Feng Yi, who had made a scene at the auction, the father looked to his own home...
Exhausted!
"I could hear him bragging to people all the way across the auction hall today!"
"A drink of realgar wine and he thinks he’s immune to all poisons, I’ve even heard people say the kid wants to catch venomous snakes, is he in such a hurry to meet his maker?!"
"It all comes down to him needing discipline!"
"He won’t learn his lesson until he goes through something!"
The Liu couple were considering how to give Liu Xiang something to toughen him up.
Liu Xiang’s dad’s cellphone rang.
Seeing an unfamiliar number, Liu Xiang’s dad still answered.
"Hello... This is...
Hearing that Liu Xiang’s car had tumbled into a lake in the wilderness of Yue Mountain, Mr. Liu’s vision darkened, and he nearly collapsed off the sofa.
After hearing from the other end of the call that the person was okay, just in a seemingly abnormal mental state, possibly due to shock,
Liu Xiang’s dad caught his breath and asked the patrol officer to hand his son the phone; he needed to be sure.
By the shore of Yue Mountain Lake.
Liu Xiang was absorbed in his thoughts when he saw the phone being passed to him and came back to reality.
"Hey, Dad... I’m alive! Just a minor injury, nothing serious... I won’t leave!!"
Upon hearing his father insist on having someone take him to the hospital for an examination, Liu Xiang’s emotions surged again:
"Dad, I’m telling you, there’s a giant serpent here! It saved me when I fell into the lake tonight! Cough cough..."
After a few uncomfortable coughs, Liu Xiang began to tell his father about how the giant python had flung him onto the shore, then asked him to bring more people over; he wanted to find the serpent that had saved his life!
The two patrol officers on the scene exchanged a glance, and one of them made a gesture.
When Liu Xiang’s call was finished, the other officer took the phone, stepped aside, and explained softly to Liu Xiang’s dad, keeping some distance from Liu Xiang:
"Yes, when we arrived, he was already on the shore, it seemed he wasn’t injured... We’ve reported to the police, and medical personnel have been contacted, oh, I see their vehicle now, they’re almost here..."
The normally quiet Yue Mountain night gradually became lively.
On the other side of Yue Mountain, it remained as peaceful and beautiful as ever.
The nearby residential area was as tranquil as the night.
Occasionally a car returning late would slowly pass by, then the silence would return.
Feng Yi had already returned to the residential area.
After expending a lot of energy that evening, he had a late-night snack and prepared for bed.
Before sleeping, Feng Yi browsed through his phone for a while.
Regarding local Rong City news, the hot topics were predominantly about the Dragon Boat Festival activities, with official promotions and various businesses and interest groups’ marketing efforts.
