Chapter 327: Chapter 245 Call Me Uncle_1

The rocky islet had risen with the arrival of Feng Yi, but as he left, it sank back into the deep sea.

The thunderclouds in the sky gradually dispersed, and the mist over the sea quickly vanished as well.

The dazzling sunlight once again shone over the sea, and the marine animals that had fled returned.

All was calm once more, with no sign of the recent disturbance.

During the rise and fall of the rocky islet, a foreign nation’s underwater listening device had picked up strange low-frequency sound signals from the ocean again.

More than a year had passed since the signal had last been detected.

Last time, people were sent to investigate after detecting the signal, but nothing was found, as deep-sea exploration is extremely limited.

Some speculated that it might be some unknown deep-sea behemoth surfacing to breathe before diving back into the depths.

On the satellite images, that area had shown signs of violent but brief storm activity. It was unclear whether this was related to the signal’s emergence.

The world now had one more mystery.

And Feng Yi, the one responsible for all this, was already on his way back to the islet.

The butler had sent Jia and Ding out to sea early in the morning on a yacht to wait at the exact spot where Feng Yi had departed.

Sensing their exact location, Feng Yi easily summoned them. His sensory abilities had enhanced, allowing him to pinpoint Jia and the others accurately.

By the time he surfaced, Feng Yi had already reverted to his human guise.

He was still a bit unaccustomed to the sudden change.

In the yacht’s bathroom, he quickly showered and changed into clean clothes prepared by the butler.

The yacht had food available, but it was all snacks like biscuits and dried meat.

"Boss, take a rest first. The butler said you might be hungry, and Bing has already prepared a lavish meal on the island; we can eat as soon as we return," said Ding.

While speaking, Ding also observed Feng Yi closely.

Having not seen him for just a day, Feng Yi’s demeanor seemed to have changed.

He appeared more composed and carried an extra hint of... melancholy?

What had he experienced?

Of course, as a competent subordinate, one must not ask questions that should not be asked.

Feng Yi ate something casually and closed his eyes to rest.

He returned to his grandmother’s little island, to the butler’s mansion.

As expected, meals were ready, with a large table filled with dishes, predominantly meat – indeed a bountiful feast with generous portions.

Being hungry with plenty of food at hand was genuinely a blessing.

However, Feng Yi ate this meal more silently than usual, looking heavily preoccupied.

The butler watched him with concern but remained silent.

Jia and the others picked up on the subtle atmosphere but didn’t say much, watching as Feng Yi ate an amount of food that was five times his usual intake.

Doctor Wu pushed up his glasses on the bridge of his nose, his gaze sweeping over Feng Yi’s stomach, which showed no sign of how much food he had stuffed in.

After Feng Yi finished eating, Doctor Wu conducted an examination on him.

The necessary equipment was here, not as complete as the home’s underground laboratory, but sufficient for basic checks.

"Very healthy."

Robust enough that a single finger could press down a bull.

"Looking at the data, you’re stronger than before. To determine how much stronger, we’ll need to test again back home," Doctor Wu said.

After the check-up, the butler called Feng Yi aside, saying there was something he wanted to give him.

He followed the butler to the basement.

The place looked like storage, but further in, there was a hidden compartment.

Opening the compartment, Feng Yi saw an irregularly shaped metal lump around the size of a watermelon inside.

"What is this?" Feng Yi looked at the butler.

"She left it for you, saying to give it to you when you returned from the sea. There’s something inside," the butler explained, then retreated a distance and turned aside, not looking.

Since it was purposely left behind, it was a privacy matter. A qualified butler should respect privacy at times like this.

Feng Yi approached and picked up the metal lump.

It was heavy for ordinary people, but to Feng Yi, it was as light as picking up an orange.

There were no lock holes on the surface of the metal lump, though there were signs of welding.

How to open it?

Since there were no lock holes or seams, the only way was...

Feng Yi covered his hands with scales, claws popped out, and he easily grasped the metal lump.

Then, he simply twisted it open!

It wasn’t difficult.

Like peeling an orange.

An orange with thick but hollow skin... No, inside the metal lump was a rolled-up metal sheet with words etched onto it.

You could tell they were carved by claws.

Not knowing who would come here and whether Feng Yi had become the inheritor, therefore, his grandmother’s secret letter did not bear Feng Yi’s name.

The letter was brief, informing Feng Yi that during the twenty years of abnormal climate, "those things had decreased."

It didn’t specify what "those things" were, so even if someone opened the metal lump and saw the letter inside, they still wouldn’t understand what it referred to.

Great-grandmother wrote the information here, telling Feng Yi that the energy substances in the sky do indeed change with the planet’s variations.

In case Feng Yi failed to read any valuable memories from the ancestral DNA, this could serve as a reminder.

At the end of the letter was a sentence, "I hope you live longer."

Ah, I also hope to live a long life, Feng Yi thought to himself.

Looking at the metal letter, and the "Destroy After Reading" at the bottom, Feng Yi used his claws to scratch out the writing.

After a hissing sound, he withdrew his claws, brought his palms together and, like crumbling a piece of paper, he crumpled the metal letter into a ball, flattened it, twisted, folded, then crumpled it again.

He picked up the metal case, as well, and rubbed it vigorously, obliterating any claw marks and turning it into a solid lump.

Feng Yi looked at the butler, "Is there a furnace? Or a soldering iron would work, too."

The butler thought for a moment and said, "There’s a small furnace that hasn’t been used in a long time."

Feng Yi picked up the two metal lumps, large and small, "Let’s try."

The butler’s gaze fell on the deformed metal lumps.

Feng Yi felt the butler’s eyes bling for a moment.

The furnace the butler mentioned was bought in the past when security wasn’t very good. On a whim, he had learned to use scrap to make small tools.

Feng Yi’s goal was only to make the rubbed traces on the two metal lumps disappear, not necessarily to melt them completely. The furnace was not great, but it served its purpose.

After completing these tasks, Feng Yi headed back to his room for a shower and lay down on the bed to rest.

He didn’t sleep for long; although he had swum in the sea for such a long time, he didn’t feel very tired.

He rested for two hours, adjusting his physical condition

Fully revived!

Feng Yi planned to stroll outside, as he hadn’t paid much attention to the scenery when he arrived.

As he passed by the kitchen, he saw Bing busy at work and greeted him.

Bing was startled before responding, and once Feng Yi was out of sight, he turned to Ding and Jia:

"Is he, recovered?"

Ding nodded as well, "Seems like it."

The coldness and melancholy were gone; he seemed to have returned to his former self.

When the butler learned that Feng Yi wanted to wander outside, he offered to accompany him and planned to introduce him to the small island.

The butler had also contributed a part in the construction of this small island.

But their leisurely island stroll was halted as soon as they stepped out the door.

Feng Yi looked at the person approaching.

The visitor was dressed in a baggy shirt and beach shorts, his head adorned with a carefully woven straw hat,

He lifted his hand to remove the jeweled sunglasses, and as he came closer, he froze for a moment as he clearly saw Feng Yi’s face, and his smile widened:

"You must be Feng Yi, right? I felt a sense of closeness as soon as I saw you, seeing you is like seeing my mom!"

Feng Yi: ???

Feng Yi: "..."

He had completely forgotten what he meant to say.

The newcomer laughed heartily, clapped Feng Yi on the shoulder warmly, "Not bad at all!"

Then he turned towards the butler beside him, opened his arms and walked over, "Butler! Long time no see!"

Feng Yi watched the man hug the butler airily, a faint smile on the butler’s face.

Of course, judging by the real emotions they were letting slip, both were wearing forced smiles.

Wow! Their interaction is somewhat awkward.

"Feng Zhenzhen has arrived," the butler said.

The man’s smile turned strained in an instant, but he quickly regained his composure.

"You might want to change the way you address it," he said.

Every time he heard the butler call him that, he felt as if there was a mocking tone, but he could never decipher it from the butler’s expressionless face.

Tsk.

Ignoring the butler, the man turned back to Feng Yi, his smile growing more genuine:

"You can call me Uncle Zhen," he said, pausing, "or you could just say ’cousin’."

Feng Yi said, "Uncle Zhen?"

"Haha! That works!"

Feng Zhenzhen, the youngest child of the great-grandmother, took his mother’s surname.

However, outside the family, few people actually referred to him by his full name; it was mostly honorifics, nicknames, or a foreign name.

In his forties, but with a youthful mindset.

Feng Zhenzhen looked at Feng Yi, "The more I look at you, the more you resemble my mom."

Feng Yi: "..."

Feng Yi said, "Maybe it’s the shape of the face, some have said I resemble great-grandmother that way."

Uncle Zhen shook his finger, his eyes firmly on Feng Yi, "No, it’s a feeling."

He had seen Feng Yi’s photo before, but seeing it didn’t give him this feeling; only when he was up close and personal did this sudden sense of closeness well up.
