Chapter 294: Chapter 218: The Advantage is Mine_1
"What’s going on here... What happened?"
Several homeowners walked in, looking puzzled. Their eyes swept over the girl standing by; the initial scream must have come from her.
But it seemed like nothing was amiss?
Could it really be a misunderstanding?
One of the homeowners was holding a smartphone, filming since he had entered the gate.
They had suspected that some wicked activity was taking place here. Filming with their phones was meant to document what they would witness upon entering, to prevent unnecessary disputes later and to prove their own point while capturing evidence.
If it turned out to be nothing serious, a true misunderstanding, they would delete the footage and apologize.
But if not, they would hand over the evidence to the police!
Feeling embarrassed with outsiders present, Haor felt ashamed and no longer spoke, loosening his grip on Feng Chi’s neck.
Feng Chi bared his teeth in a grimace and rubbed his throat, his eyes turning to the homeowners who had come in: "What’s up?"
He saw one of the homeowners filming with his phone and didn’t intervene. He had nothing to hide here.
"Ahem, we heard a scream coming from here and came to check it out. What are you guys doing?" one of the homeowners asked.
Feng Chi and his friends all pointed upwards simultaneously.
The homeowners looked up.
They were met with the sinister, terrifying face of the snake.
And it was hissing, too.
"I... shit!"
The one who was filming was so startled that he almost threw his phone.
Fortunately, he still had his wits about him, and along with the reactions of the several young people here, he knew it was fake, but it was still frightening at first glance.
Those who feared snakes just lifted their heads and then lowered their eyes, moving their gaze away, unwilling to take another look.
Way too scary!
"What is this thing?"
The homeowner speaking was braver and approached to see it up close; he even reached out to touch the "beast" to identify the material by feel.
Another slightly younger homeowner felt it was novel and exciting, "Cool! Whose idea was this?"
Upon hearing the question, Feng Chi was proud: "Me! What do you think? Is my model realistic? Isn’t it impressive? Intimidating?"
"It’s impactful at first glance, but isn’t it a bit much to have something like this in your own garden? Aren’t you afraid of scaring yourself? Haven’t you seen those TV shows where, in the dead of night, all the toys and specimens at home come to life?"
"Not scared!" Feng Chi was confident. Anyway, I don’t live around here!
The homeowner exclaimed in admiration, "This looks more powerful than the one at the museum a while back, and it has mechanical parts! It moves! You must have spent a fortune, huh? Mind if I take a video?"
Feng Chi waved his hand, "Not at all, not at all! Feel free to shoot!"
He also believed that his own creation was more vivid and lifelike than the one at the museum. He had spent a lot of money on the model, which was not just a stiff display piece but had been made with a certain level of mobility, and the lighting and atmosphere were directed by professionals.
As the homeowners shot their videos, Feng Chi briefly explained the recent events. He didn’t mention Haor being frightened into silence, just gave an overview of the incident. In front of outsiders, Feng Chi still cared about saving face for his brothers.
After listening, the homeowners were able to understand the general situation.
Anyone who suddenly encountered such a "beast" at night wouldn’t be calm. It was already good that they hadn’t fainted from shock.
After clarifying the cause and progression of events, the homeowners amiably finished their interaction with Feng Chi, with the younger one adding Feng Chi as a friend and stating he would bring more friends to visit tomorrow.
Feng Chi happily agreed.
Letting more people see his masterpiece was exactly what he aimed for.
Feng Chi then gave them another demonstration:
"This has an automatic sensor; it triggers whenever someone passes by here. Listen, it even has 360-degree immersive surround sound... Tomorrow, I’ll leave the gate open, anyone who wants to see can come! But minors must be accompanied by a guardian, I’m not dealing with any crying kids."
After the homeowners left, the video was shared in the homeowners’ chat group, immediately sparking a round of heated discussion.
People with a strong sense of curiosity couldn’t wait to come and have a look.
Inside the house, after the homeowners left,
Feng Chi faced his friends’ glaring eyes as if they were about to hit someone, raised his hands, and openly declared:
"Just... surprise! A little surprise~"
Then he was given a beating.
The emotionally traumatized Haozi pointed at Feng Chi, "That’s not cool of you! You can’t do this to a brother!"
This time, Feng Chi’s tone was stern, "That’s not what you said the last time you used a fake spider to scare me! A spider bigger than a dog, no less! You even said it was our way of ’adjusting’ our friendship!"
Remembering his own actions, Haozi’s tone suddenly softened, "That... that still doesn’t mean you can use snakes."
Feng Chi stood up straighter, "So, what I’m saying is, when you’re out in the world, you’ve got to face the consequences! This was just my retaliation!"
"Anyway, you could have chosen any other animal, and no matter what, I would have reacted, but not to a snake! Absolutely not to a snake!!"
"Alright, alright, I get it now. How could I have known you’d react like this? Acting so brave all the time!"
If he had known Haozi was this scared of snakes, Feng Chi wouldn’t have given zero hints and let Haozi charge in blindly.
His aim was to shock people and then show off his brilliant idea and artistic aesthetic, not necessarily to scare anyone out of their wits.
The rest of them played plenty of pranking and extreme games regularly. If it had been anyone else, their reaction wouldn’t have been as exaggerated as Haozi’s.
Even the strongest person can’t withstand their "allergen". Haozi was like that; dinosaurs or any other monsters wouldn’t leave him numb and speechless, only snakes could trigger such an "allergic" reaction.
For those who are afraid of snakes, the fear is truly etched into their genes.
This guy usually acts too cool for school; Feng Chi actually believed him when he boasted about not being afraid of snakes.
Feng Chi with a grave face said, "This incident proves a point."
The others looked towards him.
Feng Chi stated, "The more you brag ordinarily, the more painful the slap in the face when it comes."
Haozi: "..."
Thinking about the earlier incident, Feng Chi added, "Your girlfriend is pretty tough, reacting so quickly."
"She’s not especially afraid of snakes, and she even volunteered at Xiao Feng Mountain before, feeding rats to cauliflower snakes, right?" Haozi glanced at her.
The girlfriend, checking the scratches on her phone, thankfully not too severe since it fell on the grass, nodded upon hearing Haozi’s words, "Out of curiosity, I joined a group there for a week during college. Once you see enough, it doesn’t bother you as much."
"Where is Xiao Feng Mountain?" asked someone who was out of the loop.
"It’s a remote place, also known as Snake Mountain. It’s full of cauliflower snakes," Feng Chi replied.
Everyone immediately looked up to her with respect.
Totally badass!
Another person asked Haozi’s girlfriend, "Then why were you screaming so horrifically just now?"
Haozi’s girlfriend couldn’t help rolling her eyes, "The snake that eats tigers versus the snake that eats mice, are they the same thing?"
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Indeed.
Given the size of the "beast" in front of them, it was certainly capable of swallowing a tiger whole.
If it had just been one of those smaller snakes that eat mice, perhaps they wouldn’t have been so fearful...
Nope, still scary!
Why do such terrifying creatures like snakes even exist in this world!?
The gathering ended with Feng Chi showing off his "ingenious design."
After the friends left, without resting, Feng Chi contacted several bloggers he knew well.
The "big snake" in the yard was no longer a secret, and instead of keeping it under wraps, he shot a short video and sent it to them, quickly receiving replies about them coming over to visit.
This was an opportunity for Feng Chi to exhibit his "craft embodying brilliant ideas," as well as a chance for the bloggers to draw traffic.
One local blogger, upon learning that Feng Chi wouldn’t rest immediately, drove over in the middle of the night, capturing material for "Amazing Night in the Backyard" from various angles, and went home to edit it overnight.
The rest planned to visit the next day.
In the meantime, some neighbors who were still awake at midnight saw the message in the residents’ group chat and couldn’t resist coming over to check out the "python."
Without making the trip, their curiosity wouldn’t be satisfied, and they wouldn’t be able to sleep.
Only after taking photos and videos to post on their social circles did they go back contentedly.
As dawn was breaking, a person Feng Chi had hired temporarily to look after the backyard arrived, so Feng Chi delegated the responsibility to them and went upstairs to sleep.
But before sleeping, Feng Chi checked the social media platform’s trending topics once more.
Not a single challenger in sight!
The advantage is mine!
