Chapter 274: Chapter 204 My Expert Group’s _1
Feng Yi left Yang City before contacting the Publicity Department of the Joint Protection Bureau, which had officially confirmed the details of their collaboration on promotions.
Like Wei Hongxun, they also suggested that Feng Yi should post more photos, preferably showing his face. Not every photo needed to show his face, but occasional exposure was necessary.
Looking at the detailed list of remuneration they offered, Feng Yi agreed.
Just showing his face? Easy enough!
After settling matters in Yang City, Feng Yi got up and headed for Mo City. The work group leader had already discussed things with the local contacts.
For this trip, Feng Yi only brought Jia with him, driving to their destination.
Yi and Ding went to Rong City to handle the renovation of the house there.
Bing, Doctor Wu, and the housekeeper stayed behind.
Driving from Yang City to Mo City, they stopped a few times to rest, finally arriving at their destination on the second day.
The further north they went, the more they could feel the lingering chill of winter, reluctant to leave.
In early March, the south was hot enough for short sleeves, while the north still warranted down jackets.
After Early March, Yang City warmed up quickly. When Feng Yi left home, a long-sleeved T-shirt sufficed. In Mo City, he not only needed a jacket but a thick one at that.
However, it was manageable. After all, it was March now, and there wasn’t a severe cold wave. It wasn’t cold enough here to warrant wearing thick cotton coats or down jackets.
Having been used to the warmth of Yang City, Feng Yi felt somewhat sleepy confronting this sudden cold. He slept in the back seat while Jia drove.
Yawning, Feng Yi looked out the window at the bustling streets, the advertising billboards on both sides, and the various businesses’ ads.
Especially those of the food industry, which placed billboards full of enticing seafood wonders.
And now, with the sea star outbreak, this theme had become the main element highlighted in the new billboards.
Travelers from other places or foodies drawn by reputation were always attracted by these novel elements.
Stopped at a red light at the intersection, Feng Yi could smell the tempting aromas drifting in through the half-open car window and swallowed his saliva.
No, not now!
He had to resist!
There were more important things to attend to first!
Feng Yi instructed Jia to drive straight to their destination, where they would check in and settle before anything else.
Following the address given by the work group leader, the car continued towards the direction of the coast.
Feng Yi watched the location on his phone and suddenly felt the car stop.
There was a barrier ahead.
The electronic screen displayed [Unknown Incoming Vehicle].
In the adjacent guard booth, the on-duty officer opened the window, glanced at the car’s emblem, then at the face visible through the rear window, which seemed familiar but unplaceable, and then, with an indifferent lift of his hand, said, "If you’re here for filming, take a left at the front intersection, go about two hundred meters, and you’ll see the reception. Variety show crews should head that way, going around a small square."
Feng Yi pulled out his phone, presenting the electronic pass, "I’m from the expert team."
The officer stared at the pass, suddenly apologetic, "Sorry, we’ve had several film crew members coming here asking for directions recently."
He then looked back at Feng Yi, and seeing the Yang City license plate beside him on the screen, a photo he had seen online days ago flashed in his mind, and his face immediately brightened with an enthusiastic smile, "Ah, you must be Expert Feng! Welcome, welcome! I heard this morning that another expert would be arriving today!"
"Do I need to register?" asked Feng Yi.
"Just let me scan the code on your pass, the system will automatically register you, and next time this vehicle comes in or out it can pass directly... Alright! Please, go ahead!"
The electronic gate opened.
The adjacent indicator light also showed the sign to proceed.
Feng Yi nodded his thanks and had Jia drive through.
Inside were several different areas, each with a parking lot. Feng Yi had a map, and there were guide signs on both sides of the road, so getting lost was not a concern.
He first went to check in. The dormitory they were assigned was a small two-bedroom unit. It wasn’t as luxurious and spacious as a hotel but was sufficient for ordinary living needs.
For Feng Yi, staying anywhere was the same when away from home, as he couldn’t use his original shape.
Since experts and investigative teams often came here, the security and privacy were no less than that of a luxury five-star hotel. Staying here also provided more opportunities for interaction with other experts.
While Jia went to the cafeteria to get food, Feng Yi unpacked his luggage.
The wardrobe contained two sets of new work clothes in his size, one with a reflective vest and the other without.
In a box nearby, there were sunglasses and a hat, not a special treatment; these were bulk items, commonly used by many here.
After Jia returned with the food, Feng Yi ate something, told Jia to rest in the room, and then changed into the work clothes from the wardrobe, put on the hat, and left the sunglasses hanging on his clothes.
The sun was nice today, warming his body.
There were two entrances to the dormitory area, a main entrance in the south and a smaller northern entrance, with the latter closer to the cafeteria.
Feng Yi had come in through the south gate and now planned to leave through the north gate to find the cafeteria.
The first thing to figure out in a new place was where to get food.
The guard at the north gate, Old Liu, scrutinized each person entering and leaving with a keen eye; no unauthorized person could pass through the north gate on his watch!
His gaze lingered on Feng Yi for a moment.
Information had been updated here as well when Feng Yi checked in, and Old Liu had just searched online, aware of Feng Yi’s identity. His expression softened, and with a smile, he greeted, "Teacher Feng!"
"Just call me Feng Yi," Feng Yi said.
"That won’t do," Old Liu replied with a disapproving face. If it were some other expert with lesser credentials, he might have agreed to the request, but this one was accredited by the Joint Protection Bureau and had joined the expert committee, no matter if he looked the part or not, this was a bona fide expert!
