Chapter 266: Chapter 199: Early March_2
"Tornado!!!"
"It can’t form, just like yesterday’s in Yang City, it simply can’t touch the ground..."
Before they could say more, the cloud column like a dragon emerged from the cloud layer, reaching down and touching the water’s surface.
And it was not one of those weak spinning ones!
Even from a distance, they could feel the seawater being forcefully drawn upwards.
It was as if a straw stretched down from the sky, sucking water up from the sea into the heavens.
Suddenly, the room erupted with noise, everyone clutching their phones and rushing outside.
They weren’t feeling much wind from a distance, and since it wasn’t raining, everyone was holding up their phones, looking for the best shooting spot.
"Holy shit! A waterspout! A dragon sucking water!!!"
"The real deal dragon sucking water! Isn’t this way more hardcore than that one in Yang City yesterday?!"
"The sea’s evaporation can’t meet the cloud’s needs, so it’s using a ’straw’ to suck directly?"
"With that kind of vigor in drawing up water, it’s not a straw, it’s a pump!"
"That one, next to it, is it starting to spin up again...?"
In their view, not far from the first waterspout, another dragon rapidly formed, winding out of the clouds, straight to the sea surface.
"Twin... twin tornadoes?"
"A marvel! This is a true marvel!!"
"Last time I saw twin tornadoes online, wasn’t it a few years ago near the Equator? I never imagined I’d see it right outside my home!"
"Hey, don’t squeeze me out of my spot, I need to update my Moments first before continuing to shoot!"
If before they were pleasantly surprised, now they were ecstatic!
"Hahahaha! I told you I was lucky, that non-ground-touching tornado in Yang City yesterday was nothing!"
"Wait! It looks like... another one is spinning up..."
A third waterspout formed rapidly at a distance from the first two, from the cloud layer downward, touching the water.
The point of contact between the spout and the sea was ripped into rotating mist.
And then, farther out at sea, two more dragons descended in succession!
The noisy room suddenly went quiet.
If they had felt "pleasant surprise" before,
Now, it was "shock and awe!"
The vast sea and the sky, so overcast it seemed ready to collapse, with water spouts that lingered...
Further out, visibility was lost, the mist over the sea obscuring the view.
That was all within their range of sight; who knew if, beyond that, other spirals had begun churning unseen waters?
Despite the humid and hot environment, they now felt a chilling terror.
They could even hear their own teeth chattering.
This had to be a scene from a dream, right? Or rather a nightmare!
"Could it be the end... is the apocalypse coming again?"
"No, not the apocalypse, it’s another climate anomaly! The climate anomalies have returned!"
"The sixth mass extinction is upon us!"
"Pfft! Get lost! What nonsense are you spouting! This is just... just... a minor climate fluctuation!"
Someone brought out their drone, controlling it to fly towards the sea, trying to capture close-ups. It was sucked in.
Many people living in this coastal area saw what was happening out at sea; those who hadn’t seen it quickly learned about it through various channels. More and more people came out to photograph.
The news of at least five waterspouts appearing in this area spread rapidly online.
Too many sensational stories. To have waterspouts in March was surprising enough, let alone several at once!
The first reaction from the online masses: "Is this CGI?"
As more videos and photos appeared online, along with live streams, the reality of the situation was confirmed.
[Has the south heated up to this extent? Are convective weather patterns this strong? Tornadoes are too frequent!]
[Yesterday’s ground-touching-averse tornado in Yang City, and today a dragon sucking water at sea, I suspect someone in the south is transcending tribulation [dog head emoji]]
[One straw isn’t enough to gulp water? Has it already been unsatisfied with the absorbed water?]
[Only five? Wasn’t there an account of nine waterspouts happening somewhere in the past?]
[Where are these nine spouts? Video, please!]
[We only captured five because that’s how many were in sight! The distant ones couldn’t be captured, the whole sea was misty, nothing could be seen from afar! And no one dared to go closer!]
[Someone flew a drone over there, it got too close and was sucked in, but there’s close-up footage [link]]
[At this point, sending several drones over is just begging to lose them! Tens of thousands down the drain just like that!]
[Apocalyptic scene!]
[Calm down, calm down. The meteorological station says it’s just an ordinary meteorological phenomenon]
[Even ordinary weather phenomena shouldn’t be happening now! It would be understandable in July or August, but it’s only early March now! Yet here they are, swirling up!]
[I’ve got a question: where does all that sucked-up water go?]
[With such ferocious suction, could it rain fish?]
[Don’t just talk about fish—throw in a few hundred shrimp and crabs too]
And so, a serious discussion on meteorological issues diverged midway; some continued the serious debate, while others started focusing on how much seafood got sucked into the sky by these waterspouts.
While the internet focused on the five waterspouts that appeared on the southern sea, Yang City was already facing dark clouds looming overhead.
Inside a skyscraper in the city area.
The upper part of the building was a hotel, and a young businessman who was visiting Yang City entered his room and parted the window curtains to look outside.
Through the sealed floor-to-ceiling windows, one could see the humidity snaking around so thick that if you could reach out, you could almost touch the clouds.
Looking further up, there was virtually nothing to see, already so close to the cloud layer; the weather today was bad, with heavy obstructions—if you lived even higher, your view would be totally blocked by the clouds.
